  1. Near the pool is good to people watch for some people.

I get up early and get a chair to relax in. I like to read and get some sun. I would not leave it for hours but if I need to get something to eat or use the bathroom I do not see it as hogging. I have gotten up and seen chairs left empty from 7:30 and noontime came and they still had belongings on them with no owner. That is not ok. Having said that I do not have to be next to the pool just a place to relax.

  2. So it's 280 for the week. while that is OBSCENE it is a price to pay for convenience. Guess it's something to factor in to the overall price of the cruise. We are leaving on the Gem on July 14th and staying overnight at the Watson Hotel. Next time I think I will stay at the park in stay hotels.

  3. Leaving on July 14th so still a ways off. I’m so looking forward to this cruise I don’t think a shower will ruin it. [emoji4]

  4. First time in Bahamas on NCL Gem and planned a dolphin encounter. Weather is showing thunder daily. How predictable is it? I know tropical places can have quick passing showers. I’m hoping this is the case as I’m really looking forward to the dolphins.

  5. As a school teacher I have to cruise during school vacations. I just ignore what I can. You can’t control the action of others but I can control how I react. I’ve seen adults behave very poorly with foul language and pushing in lines way my than kids. You just have to focus n the millions of great moments on a cruise and not the few seconds of bad.

  6. Hello,

We are sailing to Nassau on NCL Gem in July and have an excursion to Balmoral island. I read that drink and food prices on the island are outrageous. Is there any little shops at the pier where we can get snacks or drinks to bring with us?

  7. Most of the cruise lines are now making trips mid April to Bermuda. Since I’m a teacher school vacation is a great time to cruise. How is the weather and if you cruised in April could you swim on ship and beaches? The Island is beautiful regardless but curious about how the early trips were.

    Thanks

  8. I guess the cruiselines are all competing to amp up their private island game and NCL would be amiss not to build a peir. I am hoping as the private island is a retreat away from vendors pestering you. If they docked overnight they could hold parties on the island at night...so many posibilties. Lets hope NCL considers what a peir could bring in terms of passemger enjoyment and profit for the company.

  9. Will the resort call you a taxi to go back to the ship or are they waiting outside? They recommend heading back 2 hours before your ship leaves. On average how long do people stay there?

  10. Going to Nassau on NCL in July and would like to try a resort with private beach. Is resort for the day a reputable site or should I book through actual resorts. All NCL is offering is Atlantis for 179 per person or 89 for being on the free beach with vendors hassling you. First trip with multiple ports ( only have sailed to Bermuda) so I’m a bit worried about getting to and from. Taxis safe ?

  11. We always book thru CAS since 2014. Whether it was a comped room or just a 10-20% discount, both DH and I have received a free drink card for use in casino, even if we picked the UBP as a free at sea perk. This is great, because we get bottled water in the casino for free and do not need to pay the outrageous price for a water package.

The bottled water is good to know!

  12. We are going to Nassau on the Gem in July and my daughter in law wants to see the swimming pigs. Is there anyone who has done this on a cruise? We are docking at 8am and will be there till 6pm.

  13. The solution would be an enclosed smoking area in the casino with machines etc. I know some ships (princess??) have enclosed smoking rooms in the Casino. I am hoping Bliss has it under control since the casino looks out in the open. But it is not a deal breaker for me. I will just not waste too much money on slots, lol

  14. Having sailed on both, I personally liked the Gem over the Dawn. However, from NCL's perspective, I'm guessing that moving the Gem to Boston allows them to utilize a newer ship on the Bermuda run there, and allow the Dawn to run the less popular Bahamas run out of NYC. Makes sense to me.

I wouldn't mind though if they decided to completely move the Dawn altogether. It'd be nice to have it sail out of Baltimore for instance.

NCL out of Baltimore would be great! parking would be a lot less!
