  1. Thank you. No we got on in LA and are leaving in Brisbane. Hopefully some on the cruise will continue posting after we disembark.
  2. Incredible day in Moorea! We went snorkeling with sharks and stingrays in the morning and spent the afternoon on a Motu for swimming and more snorkeling. We saw dolphins and sea turtles and swam with reef sharks, lots of stingrays and all kinds of fish! Such a beautiful place!
  3. There is a stairway at the back of the WJ but it’s outside so closed last night. Other than the galley entrance, they only have one entrance and it’s on the outside deck 12. The manager said it’s an issue as deck 12 is often closed so they need to escort people in and out through the galley fairly often. We took the stairs in the galley but they did offer us the service elevator (also in the galley).
  4. @dreaminofcruisin as Ken noted above, there is a bathroom in the small café where they offer a snack. I did this excursion a few years ago and remember it as my DH had to use it. 😊
  5. It seems like it. The Izumi manager said it was closed because of the bad weather. We had showers in the evening and some wind but nothing major in my opinion. They are very quick to close deck 12.
  6. Beautiful day in the South Pacific. They closed the pool and deck 12 last night because of rain showers. We had to go through the galley to get to Izumi last night. Not very convenient that they can only be accessed through an outside deck that is often closed. Finally opened the pool around 11:40 am today. It was time because it’s a hot sunny day! Also sad that the kids pool is pretty much closed all the time. It says it opens from 1 to 4 pm but I walked passed there a couple of times in the afternoon and it was closed. Not sure why. In Moorea tomorrow.
  7. @Russ Lomas Joff is getting off in Beijing but back on in June in Istanbul, or wherever the ship is in June depending on the option selected for the new itinerary.
  8. I don’t know how long he is staying but will ask if/when I see him.
  9. Hello from the South Pacific. We crossed the equator at 7:01 this morning. The ceremony will be held at 1 pm. We had the loyalty event this morning. Another beautiful day at sea! The numbers on this leg of the cruise. less windy today so calmer sea.
  10. Warm and very humid today as we near the equator. We should pass it tomorrow morning around 6:30 am according to the captain. Windy so deck 12 and front of promenade closed again.
  11. Yes the vaccine is both to protect you and so you don’t bring it with you. Many countries won’t let you in if you have been to a country where YF is endemic and you are not vaccinated. That is why many people may have had at least one YF vaccine already. And now that it’s recognized to be good for life (not just 10 years) it makes life simpler for many travelers.
  12. Sunset last night. We had a shower this morning then beautiful sunny skies. First of 4 sea days on our way to French Polynesia. A bit of wind and waves but the Serenade rides the waves very well. These show up in our stateroom very often. Not sure if Royal does this for all cruises (we have not cruised with them in recent years) or just for the world cruise but it’s nice. we are well treated on this cruise. The food has been excellent so far, the crew is very friendly and the service is great.
  13. If you have had the YF vaccine in the past your r good to go. They used to be good for 10 years but now WHO says they have enough data that they are good for life. I have had it twice in the past but they have now changed my certificate for my last YF vaccine to show that it is good for “lifetime of bearer”. I had both of mine before 60 and no side effects. My husband had his first YF vaccine after 60 and did not have any side effects.
  14. You are right that the changed itinerary opens up opportunities. We did a cruise in early 2020 (just before the Covid shutdown) that went to Africa and we just loved it. We had the opportunity to do many safaris and they were just amazing experiences. This is a photo I took on one of the safari. i am sure which ever option is selected people will continue to have a wonderful cruise! I am just sorry now we are leaving in Brisbane lol.😂
  15. As we are not affected (we are on the LA to Brisbane mini segment) we don’t really have any information on who gets to vote (other than the full cruise passengers).
  16. @kernow and @Jimbo, life is continuing normally onboard. There was a lot of talk right after the town hall but it seems to have died down a bit. People still seem very happy with the cruise. At a show a few days after the town hall, the cruise director mentioned option 1 in his remarks and people cheered so based on this it seems it might be the preferred option of at least those in the theater that night.
