Now that is one of the itineraries we'd love to do! I'll bet you're really looking forward to it. Is that a 7 or an 8 day cruise? We've also been to Grand Turk, really liked it and would love to go back. We've never been to Aruba or Curacao but we've only heard good things about both and from the pictures I've seen in other reviews, I would like to see both someday. Hopefully sooner than later. I hope you all have a wonderful time, it sure sounds like fun.
It's an 8 day, seems like the 7 day is never quite long enough for me :p
We we're originally going to try the Splendor out of NYC, as I thought I would head to Montreal with the kids after to visit my parents. Since that wasn't going to work out ( and we had already done that itinerary on the Miracle a few years ago) decided to switch to the Liberty, and excited we have new ports! We live in NC, so either port we can drive to, and it's almost the same difference in mileage, so we're lucky with that :)

Thank you! You don't have too much longer to wait. What itinerary are you going to be on?
Yes, the Tervis cups have the logos on them. The one that Red Frog has will have the "Red Frog Rum Bar" logo on the front and it comes with a red lid and the Blue Iguana has them with the "Blue Iguana Tequila Bar" logo on the front and comes with a blue lid. They are 16 oz. cups. If you want both, I recommend getting them the first day since they do run out pretty quickly.
I hope you have a wonderful time on Liberty in June. :)
Thanks for your help. We're going to Aruba, Curacao, and Grand Turk. Have only been to Grand Turk before, so looking forward to it! My husband loves to scuba dive, so this will be a good opportunity for him to try some new ports. My 16 year old son is going to join him, and my 11 year old son and I will go swimming with the dolphins, which he really wants to do. In Aruba, we're going to try the submarine ride.
Again, thanks for all your effort in doing this review :D

Yes I did. Thanks for the correction.
Wish the computer could know what we're thinking, and make the correction for us :p

Great review so far! Going on the Liberty in June and can't wait :)
I believe you said you had bought a Tervis cup. I was wondering if it and the name of the bar on it, and was it the regular size cup. Thanks!

http://www.zydocruiser.net has all the carnival menus.
I think you meant http://www.zydecocruiser.net :D
-
Sorry, but I haven't committed that information to my long-term memory (which seems to grow shorter as I get older). If you go to Zydecocruiser.com, you'll be able to find bar prices, and I think D.O.D. prices are on there too.
Trust me, I totally understand the memory thing. I think my kids have zapped all of mine :D. Will check out the website, thanks!

You can get the drink of the day in a souvenir glass/cup, but you have to ask for it.
Can you tell me how much the DOD's are these days? Thanks!
-
Could you tell me where the not so secret door is? Thanks :D
-
Curious if the Tervis tumblers have "red frog" or "blue iguana" on them"?
Thanks!
-
Thanks for all the response! We have not had the American Table so I know it will be quite a change. Anyone know where I can find those menus?
Try zydecocruiser.com. Hope that helps :)

Thanks! Have a wonderful time :)

Would love to know how many pin pong tables they have, and whether they're in a separate room or out on the deck. My son loves to play :D. Thanks!

So, even if the website says I'm gold right now, when I get on the ship I will turn gold?

My son's 1st cruise was when he was 7. He had a blast, and when we got home he cried himself to sleep, as he wanted to be back on the ship!
He will be 12 in August, this will be his 4th cruise (we are also going on the Liberty, but the week before you :) He told me before I booked the cruise that it was time for another one, as we had done all inclusives the past couple of years.
Have a great time!

Thanks everyone, now that I see the contract says they "may" charge me, I'm not going to bother bickering over $100! Thanks everyone.
Sent from my iPhone using Forums
I just changed ships also with the kids sail free promotion, and I did incur $100. also. They didn't charge for the 3rd/4th passenger, as they were "free". Hope that helps!

what im most scared of is getting a connecting cabin if i do im gonna be sad lol
We had a connecting cabin a few years back, and I was concerned, but never heard anything from the other room. Have a great time!

Is the beach at the same place as the aquarium, as I plan on doing the dolphin encounter with my son in June.
Thanks!
-
Was that for a park and cruise, or just the hotel itself?
-
I haven't been on the Sunshine, but I have read on these boards lately that the bad reviews were mostly from before the ship was in dry dock, I believe.
Remember, there will be no cooking, no cleaning, and lots of entertainment. If you're with family, it will even be better :)
Also, a cruise is what you make of it, and someone on the same ship may have a much different perspective than you. Go with an open mind, and you will probably have a blast!!
A day on a cruise is much better than a day at work :D
Safe sailing!
-
Loungers are free, clamshells are rented, not sure of the cost.
Thanks again! Hope you have a great cruise, and we both have good weather :)
-
Yep, the beach in Grand Turk is right next to the ship. We will be renting a cabana at Margaritaville as always, but planning to stroll down to Jack's Shack for lunch and a few drinks.
Funny, but the Splendor will be at Grand Turk the same day as we are, but we get there an hour before they do, and they leave an hour before we do!! I'm sure it will be quite crowded. In all the times I've been to GT, this will be the first time we will be there with another ship.
Still haven't decided on what we are going to do in Aruba and Curacao. So many choices!!!
Thanks Jamman, you are definitely a wealth of information! Are the chairs on the beach free, or do you have to rent them? Thinking since my 11 yr old and I don't scuba dive, we may try the submarine in Aruba. Sounds kind of cool, and I don't have to get wet :D Have to check what other ships will be in port with us. Checked yesterday, but that was for the Splendor which we're no longer going on....

Sailed Triumph in 01, Paradise 03, Liberty in 08, Liberty in 10, again in 12, Dream last year, and Liberty booked again for this year..... Wanna guess which has been by far my favorite Carnival ship?
Definitely feel like I made the right decision, especially after seeing how many times you've been on it :D

We have sailed on the Splendor from New York and loved it, but we are really looking forward to our upcoming cruise on the Liberty. The Southern Caribbean itinerary which includes Aruba & Curacao intrigued us, and having the final stop at Grand Turk sealed the deal.
Thanks for everyone's input. Jamman, read your review of the Splendor, and loved it! Was about to go out and get a camera like you had because of your terrific pics :) I think the ports look awesome also, and it will be nice to visit a couple of different islands. DH and DS are planning on scuba diving, so it will be nice for DH to have somewhere he hasn't dived before. Trying to remember from your pics whether the beach is right near the dock in Grand Turk? Was there 3 years ago and went on an excursion, but can't seem to remember!
We decided to switch over to the Liberty, so had to pay a little penalty, but they have a pay for ocean view get a balcony sale, and ended up saving $300. anyway :D
I totally agree that a cruise is what you make of it, and my last 3 (2 on Carnival) have been terrific. When I told my son we had switched ships, he immediately wanted to make sure we were still on Carnival :p

Thanks, appreciate your input!!
REVIEW: Carnival Liberty - Western Caribbean - 4/5/14 thru 4/12/14

I did read all of Jamman's review, which was great, pretty much knew all about the ship, then decided to change...lol...Which ports did you stop at while on the Valor? To be able to cruise with the kids I have to find a reasonable price, so that means driving to the port :D. We did an all inclusive the past 2years, which was a nice change, but I was ready to get back to cruising, and my 11year old told me a couple of months ago, it was time for another cruise :p. Can you tell I have a cruise buddy?!? The pictures of your rum punches was making me salivate for one!!
