Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Yes, I’m sure I can. Asking for opinions so that I can make a best guess. It’s not a life or death decision, so I’m willing to open it up to the crowd for input.
  2. We usually get the Unlimited Dining Package, but we are sailing on Enchantment in a week and got the 3 night package as every night at Chops is a bit much. I know food is subjective but wondering from frequent cruisers, which nights I should aim to use the package—which three menus in Main dining are the best to skip?
  3. We were on Jewel last year and the bed was painful, even after asking for a mattress topper. Going on Enchantment next month, are the beds just as bad? They were slightly better on Allure. I was reading the world cruise thread and someone mentioned bringing an inflatable camping mattress. Do they really help? Does anyone have recommendations for one?
  4. I probably attended my first Quest 5-6 years ago after seeing so many comment on how much fun they were here, and I’ve usually enjoyed them—but not to the extent others used to hype them. Maybe it’s because I’ve never been on Navigator!
  5. Our courthouse had used this technology for 10 years now, works great. Handles an influx of people all showing up for an 8:30 docket beautifully. Technology and change can be a good thing if one is willing to adapt, sometimes you just have to experience it to understand.
  6. Borderline X? Really? I’ve never been to one much more than PG-13.
  7. special_needs@rccl.com You can email Royal special needs to arrange priority check in and boarding if needed.
  8. Go back to normal life, I suppose. My husband and I can’t conceive of leaving our dog for a year, but if something happened to her (God forbid!) we’d consider this cruise in a heartbeat. We both have careers that we could reasonably expect to be in demand when we got back, the risk would be only really an extra year of retirement savings for us, and the ability to retire is never guaranteed. Life is short.
  9. We cruise this weekend and usually spend more time in our rooms than the average passenger. I don’t mind once a day service, that’s all we often had prior to the change by choice so we wouldn’t be bothered and didn’t inconvenience the steward. But we are usually late sleepers/skip breakfast and relax/get ready evenings in the room prior to a late 8:30 dinner. I am not going to change my vacation to work around a cut back cleaning schedule, I don’t think it is unreasonable to expect them to work around my schedule for one cleaning a day, even if it is just clearing dishes and changing towels.
  10. Yes, I might be one to finally remove the auto gratuity as well. In the past I’ve thought it was petty to remove them but enough is enough. I eat in specialty restaurants only and am already charged gratuity for it. I have a deluxe drink package and am already charged gratuity. I tip extra for their services. I tip cash to the room stew on top of whatever percentage they were getting on automatically and now they service my room 50% less. I don’t eat breakfast so no one in WJ or the main dining room ever touches me. I don’t believe this adds to the staff’s pay at all, at this point I think it all goes to corporate and cash is the only tips staff receive.
  11. I'm on an Allure weekend cruise in a couple of weeks that has CoCoCay as its only stop. I'm curious, if the ship can't dock due to weather or what-have-you, would we have to substitute another stop outside the US before we could return? Or could we just have two sea days and come back?
  12. It never occurred to me there could be two charters. That’s could be interesting.
