  1. Hi! What beach bag/tote did you use that you loved on excursions/to beaches? I am going to southern Caribbean (st Maarten, st Thomas, st Lucia, Barbados, and Antigua) Just looking for the best one! Wondering if an over the shoulder one would get annoying carrying it around, maybe I’ll bring a backpack? Just trying to figure it out! Small details I think but these things make a difference for me! :)

  2. I was terrified of this on my first and only cruise (so far) but we did take one private excursion and it was our favorite one by FAR and amazing. We were just very aware of the time and kept asking to make sure we would get back on time. Also, these people main customers are cruise passengers so they are used to it and bring you back in way more than enough time.

Also, I did a ton of research and only used your companies that multiple people said were great. Also, I looked on trip advisor and only went with your companies that had nearly five stars and thousands of reviews.

If you book with a good tour company, I don’t think you’ll have much to worry about but be aware of the time and give reminders if it puts your mind at ease!!!

I would 100 percent recommend going with a private tour company. We are going on a cruise next year and all of our tours are private. :)

  3. I’m gonna be real honest. While researching for my first cruise, I thought I needed all this extra stuff-over the door plastic shoe racks, etc. To be perfectly honest, we shared one window room wirh 4 people and we had more than enough room. Did not use one shoe rack or any sort of storage, there was more than enough room on the shelving in the room. And, I wore the same two sundresses/swim coverups all week! The one thing I would suggest is to get a lanyard for your seapass and to bring an extension cord/power surge to connect more devices. Also, bring more than one swimsuit. But other than that, keep it simple! Trust me, you don’t need anything extra to help organize. :)

  4. Has anyone stayed in the la concha renaissance hotel before their cruise? Any thoughts/reviews?

Also, even if you haven’t stayed here, how did you get to the port? Are Uber’s available or is there too many people going at the same time for an uber to be available? Anyone know of this hotel has a shuttle?

    Thank you thank you!

  5. I don’t get this? Why not just stay at an all inclusive thing? To me the reason you go on a cruise is to visit multiple different places in one trip but if you don’t actually get off the ship what’s the point? I have a friend that recently went on a cruise and hated it because they didn’t do any excursions and stayed on the ship and she was so bored she just wanted to leave...

  6. Im planning my day in grand cayman on same itinerary as you. what time did you leave the beach there for return to port ? and how long of a drive is it to port and about how much time did you wait in tender line to return to ship ? Thanks so much, I really appreciate all your info !!

I went to grand cayman in 2015 and we were kinda paranoid about getting back on time so I think we headed back like 2 hours early but I remember the taxi ride being pretty short from the beach-maybe 15 minutes max. We waited in tender not very long but I would say head back at the least an hour early just to be sure!

  7. Going to St Thomas for the first time next year with 6 first time cruisers. Some girls definitely want to shop in st Thomas. How close is the shopping (The good ahopping areas) to the port/where you get off the boat? I want to take an excursion to St. John’s (trunk bay) if possible or do something on the water and a few others (who’ve never been on a cruise before) want to take a shopping excursion (which is only 20 dollars). So, I was thinking maybe we could do both and just walk to shopping on our own?

Anyways those who have been, is the shopping areas within walking distance? What is the best shopping area in st Thomas?

Thanks for all your help! I could never do all this research without you guys!

  8. Going on freedom in March 2019 and am also going on a cruise either December 2020 or early 2021. I know that’s so far away but a few questions!

    1) we’ve done freedom of the seas twice now and would like to go on one of the oasis class or quantum class boats next. If you had to choose one boat in the oasis or quantum class that you would recommend/is your favorite taking out cost and itinerary, what would it be? And most importantly, why?

    2) If you’ve done a holiday cruise, what were your thoughts? Worth it? Or no? and why?

    Thanks for your help!!!!

  9. For me it’s how much the cruise costs without alcohol included. I feel

like for what you get, a ship like freedom for an interior room should be like 800 with beer and wine included. Maybe someday?

That’s the only thing i could say that I don’t like about a cruise...it’s pretty close to perfect!

    Also, disembarkation(leaving)

  10. I’ve been on one cruise before and just booked my second and advice would be....

Plan plan plan!!!!! I would also say know what your going to do on each island and book all excursions ahead of time.

Incorporate private tour companies (only those HIGHLY rated) because the private tour excursions have been some of the best ones!

Don’t worry about packing lists. When I was researching my first cruise people took soooooo much with them that I thought I needed. Extension cords, power strip, hanging shoe organizer to put stuff in, etc, etc. you really don’t need any of that stuff, at all. Just keep it simple.

Don’t book a fancy expensive room. You will never be in your room, ever. We booked a window room for our first cruise and it was nice and all but would never do it again, I’d rather spend that money on other things.

Just note: I am on the younger side it seems on these forums, I was 28 on my first cruise and 30 now. :)

  11. St. John was very, very hard hit by last Sept.'s hurricanes. I would check to see how recovery is progressing before booking the excursion. I second your idea about Barbados beaches. There are some very close to the port on a beautiful white beach along Carlisle Bay. I've also heard many positive remarks about swimming with the turtles there. We also saw turtles while snorkeling at St. John a few years ago.

We’re not going until March 2019

  12. hi! Planning a cruise and I keep going back and forth with these two excursions. We’d prefer to pick jut one excursion in these two stops, and the one we don’t pick we would just have a chill beach day.

If you had to pick...would you go to St. John’s from st Thomas or go to a catamaran tour to the turtles (lunch cruise)?

I will say we are all in our younger 30s and are active and like to have fun and have a few drinks! I’m leaning towards going to St. John’s and then going to the Barbados beaches as they do seem more lively and fun but I’m still undecideds. Which one would you pick and why?

  13. We used liberty tours and it was AMAZING!!! It was the best excursion I’ve ever been on and we want to go to Jamaica again just to go on this excursion!

The only part I felt uneasy was when riding up the mountain, the roads are extremely rocky and thin but I never felt unsafe, I always trusted the guide. The younger ones may be a little uneasy so maybe just distract them during this part. It only lasts a few minutes :)

The blue hole itself is not very child appropriate, I will say that. It’s a lot of walking through slippery rocks and jumping off waterfalls and things. Maybe if one adult stayed back with the kiddos and just swam in the lagoon or did the smaller jumps? This is just such a great excursion I encourage everyone to do it!
