  1. Going to San Juan going a cruise in March 2019. If you’ve been to San Juan for a cruise, what hotel did you stay at? Looking for a hotel that is affordable while at the time safe, not run down, somewhat close to the port and close to the ocean (walking distance a must)?

Long story short...please share the hotel you stayed at if you had a good experience! Thank you!

  2. Hello! Researching excursions and booking soon. If you’ve taken an excursion to St. John’s from st Thomas that you absolutely LOVED-what tour company did you use or did you go through royal Caribbean? On the flip side, any tour companies to avoid?

    Thank you!!

  3. We've sailed out of San Juan several times. We're always at the pier by 11:00 and have been on the ship before noon every time but once. Our cruise next month is scheduled to depart at 8:30.

Thank you-this is all I wanted to know!!

  4. Just booked a cruise for 2019 and saw the ship doesn’t depart from Puerto Rico (going to southern Caribbean) until 8:00 pm. Anyone been on a cruise that leaves this late? What time are you allowed to board? And-where will it say what time we can board at? If that day is 1 of 7 I’d prefer to not have it start so late...🧐

  5. Hi! Currently planning a March 10th 2019 cruise and we are planning to go on the “Antigua by sea” tour also know as AN66 through Royal Caribbean. Due to it being so early still and we have a group of 11, we’re still unsure who is going on this excursion and who is not.

My question is- how early did you book/how early do you think I need to book before it sells out? I know this is an extremely popular excursion and I just want to give the other members in my party a time frame that they’d need to book by. 8 of the 11 people going have never been on a cruise before and have no idea what they’re doing, haha. Also, at time of booking, do you pay f

Thanks for all the info guys-You guys are the best!

  6. Hi! Has anybody booked this tour company before?

Currently planning a March 10th 2019 cruise and we are planning to go on the beach/snorkeling tour-listed as “best tour” on their website. Due to it being so early still and we have a group of 11, we’re still unsure who is going on this excursion and who is not.

My question is- how early did you book/how early do you think I need to book before it sells out?

Also, at time of booking, do you pay full amount or just a deposit and how much was the deposit?

Sorry for all the questions-if people are unsure and it is just a small deposit to book I was going to just book for everyone so it doesn’t sell out. Thanks for all the info guys-I realize I could just ask the tour company but didn’t want to bug them if I could find the answer here! Thanks again!!!

  7. Hi! Currently planning a March 10th 2019 cruise and we are planning to go on the Calabaza sailing cruise for the lunch tour. Due to it being so early still and we have a group of 11, we’re still unsure who is going on this excursion and who is not.

My question is- how early did you book/how early do you think I need to book before it sells out? I know you can just book online and see what is available so yes I realize I could just keep checking every week but was just wondering how close to the cruise you booked or if you have a suggestion on when I should book by for fear of selling out.

Sorry for all the questions-Thanks for all the info guys-I realize I could just ask the tour company but didn’t want to bug them if I could find the answer here! Thanks again!!!

  9. Hello! Just working on my expenses for a cruise I’m going on in 2019 and would love advice. In your experience, when would you say is a time you would need to book excursions by? I’ve been on a cruise before but can’t remember when we booked excursions. I’m sure we will book a mixture a private excursions and excursions held by RC. Our cruise is in March so on average and with your experience, when would you say we would need to book our excursions by?

Thank you so much for your help!!!

  10. You may want to consider the major damage that hurricane Irma did to both St. Thomas and St. John, USVI. Excursions may not be the same as before the storm hit these USVIs. St. Kitts had no major damage from Irma or Maria. So it may be a better choice for cruises for several months.

  11. Okay I understand I have to decide because I know what I prefer to do but I also like to know others thoughts that have actually been there...what is the big difference between these two locations (st Thomas and St. Kitts) or are there pretty much the same except for different excursions?

    Thanks in advance!

  12. Aruba and Curacao have wonderful beaches. I did both itineraries and I loved option number 2. More sea days, less port intensive and more relaxing. The ABC islands are amazing!

I’m new to this...are the abc islands referring to Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao? Why are they called the abc islands? Lol I’m so new :)

  13. Hello all! So this will probably be a long winded message so I apologize in advance. Me and my family are getting ready to book our second cruise, and our first cruise going to the Southern Caribbean (went to the Western Caribbean last time.) We are stuck between two different itineraries and would love your insight from people who have actually been to these places! Both itineraries are for March/April 2019 and both are 7 day cruises. Also both are on the same ship (freedom) which we went on last time and were so happy with. Also we are all in our late 20s to early 30s. Here they are:

    Number 1:

    St. Kitts

    Lucia

    St. Lucia

    Barbados

    St Maarten

    Antigua

We’d be in each port for about 8 hours (8-5 or 11-7)

    Number 2:

    Aruba

    Curacao

    Bonaire

    St Maarten

With this one, we’d be in each port for 12 hours or more (7 am- 11 pm)

We are so conflicted with this and would love your opinions! What one would you choose and why? At this point for some reason I feel like Antigua is the prettiest beach so I’d be bummed not going there and we also all really think we’ll love St Lucia and are excited to go to the volcano! However, on the other side, we heard Aruba has the best sunsets and would love to go on a sunset cruise there. It would also be nice to stay in each port for longer and not have to be so concerned with time. So we’re pretty much choosing between more/better ports vs being in each port for longer so it really comes down to each port and which ones we would enjoy more.

    Things to consider:

-We love and prefer beaches and things that go along with that. We loooooooved grand cayman on our last cruise and are looking for a few stops with those white sand beaches and clear clear water like grand cayman.

-We want a mix between beach ports as described above where we can snorkel and do things on the water vs more adventure ports where we can go to a cool waterfall or go to a volcano.

-We are not interested in shopping or walking around towns—we more prefer water stuff and adventure stuff (snorkeling, parasailing, going out on a boat, zip lining, etc.)

We are excited to hear your opinions!!! Would you be upset not being able to go to St Lucia/Antigua but would be able to go to Aruba and Bonaire for a longer period of time? Or would you prefer the latter? Which are your favorite ports of those listed and why? Which itinerary would you choose and why?

Sorry this is so long-We truly appreciate your help as we think it will help make our decision!

  14. hi! i am sailing on the freedom on july 5th. I recently lost my drivers license and would need to ask off work to go to the dmv to get a new one. I obviously have my passport. Is there any point in time on the cruise where I will need my drivers license? During excursions/to get on and off the boat? When I order a drink, do i have to show my passport/id every single time?

    Thank you for any help!

  15. hello! my boyfriend would like to purchase a drink package and after looking at the descriptions, we weren't sure about the real difference between the two. it says the premium you get cocktails and frozen drinks...so then what don't you get with the premium that you get with the ultimate? My boyfriend likes to drink cocktails such as bicardi limon and sprite, rum and coke, etc. He also likes beer once in a while (which i know both include beer.)

i would like to know the difference between the two, any help is appreciated!!!

if it helps, we will be traveling on the freedom of the seas.

  16. hi! i am staying at the best western about 25 minutes away from the port. the first free shuttle available from that hotel leaves at 11 am. What time would you think I would get on the ship?

I have heard to get to the port earlier (10:30 am) and then you can get on the ship earlier. we have 4 people so if we decided to get a taxi instead it probably would not be that expensive and i am debating if it would be worth it.

if it helps, i am going on freedom of seas on july 5th from port canaveral.

thank you for all your help!!!

  17. okay, so wont take passport, but will have copy of passport, cash, and camera. i will have another bag with towels, sunscreen, etc. for me, it is not an option to just keep it in a ziplock bag in my pocket because i will not be wearing something with pockets.

if you dont use waterproof bags, thats fine.

just lookign for people who have and what bags worked best for them.

    thank you.
