  1. I've never snuba'd but I have snorkeled...and honestly I was a little scared to scuba. I let Tony know that and he really made sure I was comfortable...he wouldn't let you go if he didn't think you were ready for it. He teaches all the basics in the shallows first...how to breathe, how to clear out your respirator and mask, hand signals, etc. Then it's out to the scuba grounds :) we saw lots of fish, turtles and even an eel. The water was amazingly warm...like bath water. The best time we've had at an excursion...hands down.

That sounds great I am going to look him up !!

  2. In Roaton, Honduras Princess docks at a private dock. There is a shopping mall right off the dock with stores and a bar. To the right over a small bridge and a short walk there is a really nice beach area with lots of lounge chairs, sun, shade and water activities. In the rear is a beach bar and restaurant. There is only room for one ship at the dock so you will be the only ship there. You can leave the property and take a private tour with drivers that are there waiting. Many drivers speak only Spanish, so, if needed, they also have an English speaking youth in the car. The youth does not get paid. They only get what you tip them. Because the channel is narrow, in rough or windy weather the ship may skip this port.

Thanks is there a fee to use the beach?

  3. If you want to scuba, I'd definitely go with Scuba Tony in Cozumel. We went 2 years ago as first time scuba divers and it was a blast. He and his staff made us feel very safe and made sure we had a good time.

Thank you for the info about scuba have you done snuba as well?

  4. Walking and stairs are good but you are on vacation, have fun, hit the dance floor at night. It's great exercise and it's good to wear off some of the calories after dinner. There is always a nice selection of music on the ships. We always go around to listen to the different artists/groups and choose our favorite for dancing. If your husband doesn't dance, go anyway.

I will be traveling by myself my boyfriend is staying at home I am sure I could have fun dancing by myself

  5. I took a 30-day cruise on Oceania in November while on WW. I had a wonderful variety of fruit for breakfast, with a piece of crisp bacon once in a while. Lunch was salad and veggies and a simple protein, and I tried to stay on track in the evenings as well. I shunned the breads most of the time, but allowed myself their wonderful breadsticks if I just couldn't stand it - they are small and easy to control. I allowed myself either a drink or a dessert each day, not both. That way I felt I was on vacation without going crazy. I walked LOTS and kept track on the scale in the gym three times a week.

At the end I'd only gained 3 pounds, which came off within a week of arriving home (yes, I agree it's at least partly the extra salt in the diet).

IT IS POSSIBLE! If you've been on the program a while you know what the right choices are, and you CAN substitute the bad choices for good ones. Just remind yourself more than once a day how good you feel about yourself losing the weight - it's good reinforcement.

    Good Luck!

Your right having a delicious dessert that you can slowly enjoy is a better choice than a high cal drink moderation is KEY!!

  7. From another post seems you will be cruising on Emerald Princess. Great ship. Hope you enjoy her as much as we always have! :)

We very much enjoy both Sabatini's and Crown Grill. Most steak lovers go to Crown Grill!

You should make reservations. Just call DINE LINE. While these specialty restaurants may not appear to be full, they very often are. It's the lack of waiters trained to work in them that is the problem. This is the big complaint of every specialty restaurant manager we've ever met.

  8. Don't worry about that!! I've come back a kg or 2 lighter every princess cruise that I've done - and I eat it all. I think it's because we always take the stairs over the elevators - and do alot of walking....

Thanks I am feeling better now

  9. Princess has great desserts... beware!

The cruise industry isn't really known for healthy alternatives... because most people want to splurge while on vacation, but Princess does have healthy options. Just not whole grain pasta!

    What's your favorite healthy meal?

  10. The gym is decent. I did the bike and treadmill. Of course, walking the deck is better!

They do have very good Crème Brulee. You must try it at least once. ;)

Naughty me I will probably try it more than once :) I will have to check out gym and walk around the ship

  11. I've never gained weight on a cruise and no, I don't exercise. I love salad so I often make myself a chef salad for lunch and taste other things that appeal to me. At dinner, I ask for no sauce on my entree and sometimes have an appetizer, soup and an entree-sized salad. I'm not big on dessert so I usually order sorbet or maybe ice cream with chocolate sauce and then take just a few bites. I eat until I'm no longer hungry as opposed to when I feel full. I try many different foods but finish only what's really, really good.

I wish I had your love for salad I can't stand rabbit food lol ..I love desserts

  12. When on a cruise, I eat three meals a day of whatever I want-including bread and pastas. I almost never skip desserts and I drink an iced Caramel/mocha iced coffee with whipped cream each afternoon. I do take stairs and I walk a lot on tours. I always have a aft cabin to force more walking. When I get home, I have gained 3 to 4 pounds and that's usually water retention from the saline in the water. After a week it's gone. Don't go whole hog, but don't deny yourself either.

Thanks Brenda !! Your right I am supposed to be on vacation I should enjoy myself not worry the whole time about what I am eating.

  14. You are most welcome. It is completely do-able, cruising while watching or maintaining your eating plan.

And you asked if you should bring workout clothes? I always do. One of the nice features of Princess is that they have laundries, so you can wash your clothes as needed. ($2 to wash, $2 to dry).

If you are one any ship other than the Royal or Regal, there is a Promenade Deck. One of the interesting features is that you have have to walk up 1 fight of stairs and down 1 flight of stairs to complete a lap. Approx. 3 laps= a mile.

There is also a Walk for the Cure event (typically on the last sea day). This is a 5K to raise money for cancer research. We always do that!

That is great!! So I will be doing a lot of walking I've got my WW pedometer. , how do you track on cruise

  15. I actually work for WW.

When I cruise, I try to keep at least one meal a day in line with the Simply Filling plan. That meal is normally breakfast, when I have have cut fruit, oatmeal, or an egg.

You can always get a salad without dressing (I dunk my fork in the dressing). I order all sauces on the side.

I also eat dessert after dinner. I may only have a bite or two, but i will no deprive myself.

I ALWAYS take the stairs (I have been on cruises where I have never set foot in the elevator). I walk the deck everyday or walk in port. I make it a goal to walk about 5 miles a day (I wear a very high tech pedometer and my Active Link). I take yoga classes.

I lost one pound on my last cruise and gained one pound on the cruise before that.

It is like any other type of weight loss- calories in/ calories out.

Princess has lots of great options for food. If you like soup, stick with the broth bases vs the cream bases.

If you like seafood, there is something on the menu every night.

You may find it a bit harder to get a really lean steak, but you can always ask. You can also ask for double veggie portions.

Oh thank you Tracy your so helpful I am going to try your ideas it's nice to find another weight watchers person on here!!

  16. If you are in Traditional dining you can ask them not to put the basket of rolls on the table every night. We have done this many times. Also try the sugar free items. Some not so great but we have found some that were pretty good. The portions seem to be getting smaller in the dining room and you can always ask them to switch out side items that you might be worried about. My biggest down fall is pasta so I try to have it only on night during the cruise and ask for it as a side and not a main course. Go and enjoy.

I love pasta as well big pasta eater do they offer whole grain items

  18. Miranda,

I just make sure I walk A LOT! Stairs are always helpful! I eat whatever I want but eat small portions. At dinner I don't order a salad or appetizer...I hold off for the main course and dessert. Moderation in everything.

    Enjoy your cruise!
