The only channels I care about are the map, forward, aft camera and the movie channel.  We like to fall asleep at night watching a movie.  By the end of the cruise, chances are we would have watch one whole movie.  LOL.

That's us!! We always joke that we've seen the whole movie but not necessarily from start to finish. More like middle, end, beginning or end, beginning, middle, etc.

  2. "Is Bingo as big an activity on Princess as it used to be?"

Is it as big?! heck it's about the only activity they haven't eliminated and only increased it. That, and trivia. We're very loyal Princess cruisers but have seen a decrease in the amount of activities other than passive ones like trivia, bingo, etc

  3. Never thought we'd like it but we went once and had a blast. Love the little sandwiches. Then we reached Elite and tried the complimentary in-room tea service.  A lot of food but pretty cool. Just give six hours notice and make room for all the stuff.

  4. We've had the stock for a few years now and it's up and down but we're still happy with our purchase.

One note though: we tried to use it for a Carnival Cruise last year and was denied. The cruise was a casino comp and they wouldn't honor the OBC cause it couldn't be used in connection (although we had the same offer the previous year and it was honored - typical inconsistency). That said we plan on keeping it.

  5. yep. Kroger. Plus, you can get gas points when you buy them.

It looks like, however,  I'll be forced to take a bunch of cards with me to the Passenger Services Desk to have them applied to my account. I pity the person waiting behind me. Sure would be easier if I could do it online (like just about every other commercial enterprise in the world).

  6. For those of you, like me, who love to pay with gift cards. Princess will finally start offering them. Saw this in a Press Release on my fidelity page. No place in the shopping card in my personalized yet, though.

I have found this area is inconsistent. Sometimes it shows the gratuities are paid, other times it shows I can choose to prepay (on the same cruise).

I’ve started checking the travel summary (which does take a few clicks). Under check in, travel summary twice. It’s always there.

    Perfect. I see it. Thanks

  8. Didn't mean to imply we or you are old. But Princess does skew to the older demographic. But I agree 4:45 is way too early. I noticed a lot of folks not eating at second seating but now there's gonna a fight for those tables.

  9. Is it because the typical Princess Cruiser is getting "older", whatever that means? Too many complains about missing shows, maybe?

I'm gonna feel rushed after spending a day on the Lido deck or ashore and then needing o get dressed for dinner. I can't imagine the early diners eating at 4:45. I would've just finished my afternoon snack.

Just got off a Carnival Cruise and late seating was 8:15.

  10. They're at it again. I know the is an old thread but I received the same form letter email response as the OP. Its the first time I've been denied. Altough the OP was originally denied it was later honored.

I saw that CCLMischelle said they'd honor it in an earlier post but I'm not sure she's still there.

    "Hi Everyone,

I apologize for the confusion, we will still honor onboard credits for our shareholders.

If you had submitted a request and had it denied, please resubmit it so we can apply the credit for you.

    Thank you,"

    Any suggestions?

  11. Coming from Texas, we were excited to try the BBQ. I mean the Guys Burgers were awesome, so the BBQ should be too, right. Yeah, no. The line was expected but the quality of the food was not. I know Texas BBQ and this was far from it. You do gets lots, but quantity did not make up for the lack of quality. No real taste on most of it and what did have a taste was not a good one. Of course, to each their own, just my opinion. I'll have another burger instead.

  12. Amber Cove, Mahogany Bay, Crown Bay, etc aren't as much private islands as they are Corporate Ports. Princess Cays (at least their little portion of it) is considered a private island, thus the package is accepted.

A related question is, under the new package, only soda fountain sodas are included, cans are extra. I heard that Princess Cays doesn't have soda fountains so do they honor cans? I've heard mixed reports.

  13. Thanks for taking time to post this- it is very informative.

Looks promising for breakfast..hopefully as a later morning (than MDR) option.

It will be interesting to see how busy these venues are. I like the idea of some additional 'specialty dining' options

although many will no doubt bemoan the increasing tendency for cruise lines to charge for things that used to be included. It would be interesting if Princess put together a dining pass or package that included these venues.

I would be interested in a dining pass or package similar to the AIBP (or now the Premier Beverage Package). We usually don't eat at the for-fee specialty restaurants but would consider if there was a value pass.

  14. Couple of questions for recent Caribbean Princess cruisers (Caribbean, Panama Canal sailings)

    Any Patters to look at?

Has the Crab Shack been completely replaced by Steamers?

Is there still a Pub Lunch?

Any specialty nights in the buffet, i.e Bavarian, Mexican, etc?

I may think of more, but returning CB cruisers feel free to add comments, tips, new notes, etc.

  15. Just returned from 28 days on Emerald Princess. We booked under the Sip and Sail about a year and a half ago so we both had the beverage package. Under the new rules we were limited to 15 alcoholic drinks per day. Not a problem. That's a lot of drinks.

Water: Small bottles of water were included. That includes small bottles of Perrier and San Pelligrino. I got one or the other most nights before bed. We go the regular plastic bottles of plain water when going ashore.

Liquor: They don't serve doubles. After a bit when the bartenders in Wheelhouse knew me well they would sometimes offer to pour me a double to take to the theater and then would charge for one drink right away and the other a little while later. (They knew my card number on the second day so it wasn't an issue for them to do the second charge after I had left for the theater.) This wasn't something offered to everybody.

Beer: During Happy Hour I saw them open the beers when giving them to people. Since we had the beverage package we couldn't participate in Happy Hour. My wife and I were able to ask (at other times) for an unopened beer and we were accommodated.

Champagne: A number of times we asked for the small bottle of champagne unopened and were accommodated. We took them to the cabin and had a number stashed in the refrigerator. Later on we would have Mimosas on the balcony. Very nice. We knew a number of other folks who did the same. By the end of the 28 days many bars were out of the little bottles of champagne...

Any comments on the soda portion of the package?
