  1. I think that there should be some sort of Casino exemption. If you are in the Casino gambling and you have the beverage plan then your alcoholic drinks shouldn't be counted towards the 15.

I agree. In fact, they reward play with free drinks but you technically already get them "free" with AIBP so what's the incentive. Something they didn't think about. Mentioned that to the Carnival host and he gave us a free steak dinner. So always talk to the host if you think you've earned something.

  2. Have used the AIBP a couple times. My thoughts: Not real keen on the 15 alcoholic drink limit but after experiencing Cheers and their limit on a Carnival ship, I can live with it, it's sufficient. Absolutely hate removing canned sodas from the package. Heck even Carnival had these included.

There's no need for punch cards. The current system is fine, plus it gives the bartenders liberty to overlook the limit here or there (or enforce it early if necessary).

With the Cheers package, I'm sure there were times we went over the 15 limit but we were never drunk or unruly (Plus we were in the casino spending money).

Hopefully the new system on Princess is as well oiled as the Cheers program. We'll see first hand in January with a complementary Sip & Sail Premier Beverage Package. Just wish they didn't cut out the canned sodas,

  3. We are Princess Cruisers but recently offered a free carnival cruise. So we went. of course. Always heard bad things about the food on carnival. Their newish American Table style menu selections were awesome. Always something delicious to eat, always available selections are plentiful. (just had to ignore the occasion shorts and ball caps). I keep hearing about the downgraded Princess menu. Please tell me that they haven't been outpaced, outclassed by Carnival. We're sailing the Caribbean Princes in January.

  4. There are those who do not drink at all; those who have a G&T before dinner and glass of wine at dinner (DW); those who have a beer returning from Port, G&T before dinner, two wines at dinner, cocktail during show (me).

For the first two AIBP has no value. For me, I only need to add specialty coffee and bottled water, then the convenience of AIBP comes into play. When traveling with friends, the beer returning from Port or G&T before dinner often becomes two. I think we are in the sweet spot for AIBP, we like to drink and will splurge on vacation but not big drinkers.

Agree. The key word you used was "convenience". Regardless if you're a big drinker or not, having the option to have a beer here or a cocktail there, a red bull pick me up, fresh squeezed OJ or an irish coffee - without ever considering the tab - is quite convenient. Works for us.

  5. Did a Renewal of Vows on Golden for 5th, Golden to Hawaii for 10th, Emerald for 15th and will be doing it again on the Caribbean through the Panama Canal.

Still waiting for her to say "Not this time" clear.png?emoji-winktongue-1704

Seriously, its done quite well and they accommodate most requests, I was able to sing "Hawaiian Wedding Song" to my bride during our Hawaiian cruise ROV.

We've had both the deluxe and regular, and now find the regular quite sufficient.

Do it at least once, heck do it 4 times!!

  6. That is not the point! The point is this - they are raising the prices, limiting the number of drinks you can buy and then trying to "sugar coat" it by saying you can now get drinks up to $12 and more off on wine. Basically, they have cheapened themselves to Carnival.

Many people can drink more than 15 drinks on a sea day and not be drunk. That is an individual choice. What really ticked me off about the email I received was how they tried to make it sound like they were doing US a favor! Just say it like it is! You raised the prices and gave us nothing! In fact you took away by putting a limit on the drinks that can be gotten each day

This is NOT A DEBATE about whether 15 drinks is more than enough! If is about the fact that Princess lowered themselves to Carnival's level and tried to make it sound like they were doing us a favor. What a bunch of crap!

I agree completely EXCEPT when you say they lowered themselves to Carnival. Get this. We just came off a Carnival Cruise and had their Cheers program. I was worried about the 15 drink limit. It didn't seem too enforced. We hit it every night but it was REAL late. BUT you could have any drink up to $50. We sampled a few really expensive tequilas we would have never paid for. AND they still included canned sodas. So their package is not only cheaper but includes more.

Bottom line, Princess has lowered the value of the package below Carnival's. Shame too cause I'm a Princess cheerleader. Thank goodness we have S&S for our next two cruises. Guess we'll have to carry on our sodas.

  7. Posted his on a medallion thread but I think it got buried.

Forgive it it has been answered already, but how will the medallion work in the casino? Currently your S & S card is used to establish your account on the slots and also holds your bank, transfers money, etc. Will there be a separate "players" card ala land casinos or will the machines have to be retrofitted to work with the medallion? Thoughts?

  9. We are booked on the CB Jan 3, 2018 Panama Canal cruise. I have not received an email from my TA but when I went to the Princess website a few minutes ago, it shows that Grand Cayman has been substituted for Falmouth, Jamaica. I am fine with this because I would rather go to Grand Cayman, anyway.

We're on this sailing. The changes were added. Yes, no Ocho Rios, going to Grand Caymen. Cristobal instead of Colon, and several shorter stays especially Cartagena (barely enough time to do anything). As I noted on another thread, they kept Princess Cays in its entirety. They wouldn't want to lose that cash cow.

  10. We are on the Jan 3 Panama Canal cruise so guess we'll see a change on that itinerary also. If they change Ocho Rios to Grand Cayman that's ok with me. I would have liked to keep the Colon stop though. Did the $50 pp obc get offered with the latest change?

Anyone know what's worthwhile for a port visit to Cartagena?

We're on this with you. We'll be on a Princess excursion to go all the way through the locks to the pacific and meet the ship back Colon (I guess it will probably be Cristobal now). Have a day pass to a nice resort in Ocho Rios so I hope we keep it. We're taking a city tour in cartagena.

  12. Thank guys. Mainly didn't want to have to deal with the waiting for the cabin to be ready or massive lines. Was thinking of dropping off bags between 9:30 and 10, heading to Harrah's or Mother's then coming back at 1:30. Guys burgers would be on the itinerary. :D
