  1. Question:

I've looked but can't seem to find. Is there a place in Manage My Booking to see OBC? I know I have some, and will be getting more (CCL stock benefit) but don't know where to look to make sure its credited.

  3. Found out what my issue was (timing out).

It's not the ad blocker, as it was disabled. It was that my computer's time zone was out of sync with my computers clock. I manually set my time but forgot to set the time zone, so every time I clicked on the webcam it assumed I had been on for 90 minutes without refreshing. And of course when I refreshed it still assumed I was on for an extended period of time. Kept time out. Weird huh? Just another strange anomaly. The folks at PTZtv were very helpful (although I figured it out before they did). Now I can view those great ships without hassles.

  4. Anybody have experience dropping off bags at the Carnival terminal then coming back later to board. We want to get our bags on early (hopefully to get them to our rooms quicker) then go have breakfast in the quarter, then board when the rush is over, say about 1:30. Thoughts?

  6. The limit on alcoholic drinks is only mentioned in the terms of the Sip and Sale promotion, not on the website if you purchase the package. I have heard 15 alcoholic drinks reported as the limit but this is not stated in the terms of the Sip and Sail promotion.

I can see this being the case, however, in what way could they enforce this? Example, Passenger A has the S&S promotion and goes to the bar and they say you've hit your 15 drink limit. Passenger B purchased the AIBP on board and has no limit. This seems difficult for the bar staff to keep up with and confusing to the guests, no?

  7. Thanks for the notes.

We're going late August. Been to Belize three times with princess, first time with carnival. We are Elite on Princess so we get priority tender, not on carnival. Getting a bit concerned about the tender process at Belize. You mentioned "train wreck". What's the tender process? We have an independent excursion planned.

  8. Before the AIBP it was a nice perk. Now we get the AIBP so the reduced drink cost is not really a factor. The last couple of times we went it was so crowded that it took forever to get drinks and the munchies were average. So now I think we'll just get some snacks from the buffet or IC, our beverages of choice and have our own P/E Lounge in the cabin.

  9. Regardless of how you feel about the amount of drinks a person can/should/shouldn't consume, the only real problem I see is that the verbiage says "A daily limit on alcoholic beverages will apply." This is too vague. It needs to be spelled out in writing beforehand (15, 20, ...) because I see problems at the bar when telling a person he's hit his limit when he wasn't aware. Ever try telling someone he's hit his limit, ugh.

On Carnival its spelled out and the bartenders let you know you're reaching your limit.

  10. Our second visit to Nachi coming in August. I know the water toys are extra (found that out last time when we tried to climb on the big float and was shooed off cause we didn't pay :o) but, question:

Does anyone know if you can we bring your own air mattress/pool float?

  11. Yes I have too. The bartender cuts the person off and then calls the supervisor. The supervisor then calls all the bars to notify them not to serve this person.

The intoxicated person may end up in what they call a focus file. The focus file is designed for passengers who's behavior needs watching. They post the passengers picture in the crew area's to alert the crew to be on the lookout.

    Brutal.

  12. I guess I'll start.

    Without using the word "classy,"

    To a friend who asks,

I say Princess is geared towards a slightly mature crowd, has a few more exotic ports of call and a loyalty program that has legitimate perks. I call it "Casual Elegance" and still holds on to many of cruise's traditions. Younger folks may have to search a little harder for the party, but its there. The negatives are that many of the late night venues close earlier. Some folks can be a bit snooty. And some older folks are crabby.

Carnival seems to engage their guests a bit more. Have more entertainment options. There is quite the lean towards casual. But the party (if you're into that) isn't hard to find. The negatives are the younger folks can be a handful. And some older folks are crabby. (Sorry had to put that it).

That said, have you ever noticed that some frequent cruisers complain so much that you wonder why they are cruising. They've cruised so much that it seems like they're just going through the motions. Sorry, tangent.

  13. Perhaps "limits may apply" is purposely vague. It allows the cruise line to cut off those that are abusing alcohol. Without putting a specific number on the drinks, if the bartender determines you have had enough, then the limit is going to apply to you!

They can do this now. Even with pay as you go drinks. Seen it many times.

  14. Ours said MAY apply.

Whatever, it's only for alcoholic beverages not all drinks.

The reason its an issue because it affects the value of the promo.

    Example:

NOT including nonalcoholic beverages - Carnival's cheers program has a 15 drink limit, but you can get drinks valued up to $50. An total value of up to $750 a day, again NOT including nonalcoholic beverages.

If Princess insists on a 15 alcoholic drink limit, current policy states good for drinks up to $10, that's only a value of $150 a day or 60% off $10 drinks. Anything over $10 you still have to pay for.

That said, the Cheers package 15 limit is clearly stated while Princess only says "limits may apply".

Now, if the limit is in place for just the Sip & Sail folks and not those that purchase the package outright, I see another whole can of worms.

I love the current AIBP cause it works for us. Hate to see limits cause people abused it.

  15. Carnival ships (in my experience) always remain on the same time as the home port for closed loop cruises. For this itinerary, depending on where you leave from, some or all of your ports may be in the same time zone, which makes everything easier all around.

Glad you enjoyed the pictures, traci_money!

yes, normally the case, except we'll be sailing during daylight savings time. For example, the time here currently is 5:05 and it's 4:05 in Belize. So I guess I'll have to factor that in. Thanks.

  16. Unfortunately it's valet parking only. And now its $30 plus tax. That said, its still one of the best properties and we always stay there. 5:30 kickback and breakfast buffets take the sting out of the parking charge.
