  1. It's 21 days until we sail. Everything is done online, NCL.com even says we're both checked in, but I cannot print eDoc/boarding passes.

Below is the note that keeps popping up. I have no idea what a "Booksafe Travel Protection and other add-ins" are. She does not have her own NCL login ID. I completed not adding any of the extras such as travel insurance, more Wifi, drinks, etc for myself. However, when I check her in, the ability to check "No" or whatever is not there.

Anyone know the secret to getting eDocs? I plan to call NCL tomorrow, but do not look forward to spending a couple of hours on hold.😳

We are on the Breakaway headed back to New Orleans.  Monday, our at sea day was very rocky, very windy.  We were all excited when we pulled up on a sunny day to Cozumel on Tuesday… but we never docked.  Someone shared footage from a ship that did, and huge waves were crashing up over the gangway.  I think the ship could have docked, but I don’t know if passengers could have negotiated the trip to shore.  We got another sea day: this time with more sun.  Roatan and Belize went ok, but they announced we wouldn’t make Costa Maya due to weather, but they would substitute in an afternoon at Cozumel: we were there Friday from noon to 8:00pm.  Must be very specific to winds or something because Cozumel and Costa Maya are not far enough apart to have different weather systems.

First time I’ve done this itinerary this early in February…not sure if it’s normal or not to have so many changes.  I’ve done it twice in late March and never missed a port.

$50 OBC per person for the inconvenience and $15 for port fees.

We cruise to Coz often, probably 15 times in the last 20 years; usually in early-mid March and or mid October. We have never failed to dock at Cozumel in those years, but probably failed to dock at Costa Maya around 40% of the time. That port is very open to the ocean/winds as you know. Glad you did get to spend the afternoon in Coz, one of our favorite ports.

I am not Platinum or Elite, I am in a balcony cabin and I have not made final payment. I cruise in July and I was able to make my dinner reservations a couple of weeks ago. I hope this helps!

MDR reservations or specialty dining reservations? If the latter, did you use OBC or your credit card?

All I've been able to find is this, "Platinum and Elite Captain’s Circle members, guess what? You can make reservations right away (before final payment). You get your pick of venues and times in appreciation for your loyalty!"

I am platinum and cannot book using OBC, but can book specialty dining using my credit card for our cruise March 2025. So that's about 13 months in advance at least.

Thanks very much, KSSS2013, it's appreciated. BTW, you have have really gorgeous photos in this thread!

0630 is a bit late for us, but we usually pencil in a slightly earlier time, and it's been delivered then 95% of the time. I think it makes their job a little easier to spread out the times a bit. If it does not show until 0630 that's fine also....after all, we are on a cruise ship! Worse comes to worse, in those 5% occasions, I make a quick run up to the lido deck for coffee. Or maybe on this cruise we'll try the in cabin coffee maker; not expecting it to be very good though.....

    16:30.

It’s been very late afternoon every day. We don’t want to go back to the room and nap at all because we don’t want to

    miss our room getting cleaned.

Ah, I understand completely about the nap! One of life's pleasures! I forget, is NCL doing just one cleaning a day? Fine with us, we also let our steward know on any ship that's all we need. However, we always request an AM cleaning if that is possible.

Oof da! 6:40 and it’s a one hour wait for taste and savor. I should have worn pants and taken my chances at the Manhattan room.

Someday I’ll understand what the Sapphire priority dining perk means. 🙂

Did you make reservations before boarding? Curious, as we did for our upcoming and I hope the reservations are honored.

Manhattan remains the more "elegant" MDR of the three? That's the only one we used last time, but this next cruise we'll be trying the others also.

We booked either 1730/530pm or 1800/6pm for dinner, so I am hoping it won't be too crowded at that early time. We're old farts who eat early obviously!😁

I strongly suspect that your TA got some "bad info" from whoever they were speaking with.  There is NO mechanism in the app or "web version" to accommodate SD dining purchase with OBC.  Please keep us posted if you are actually able to use OBC!  We would *all* like to hear about that...it would be a major change.

Surely you don't mean the Cruise line gave out bad information?😉

Ha, we have all been own that particular road a few times, haven't we?

I doubt I will be able to use OBC before boarding, but at some point I will probably have enough time on my hands that I will call my TA or Princess and try to do that. I doubt my TA can do anything, but better him on hold for an hour than me.

It does irk me though: Cruise lines "give" us a nice OBC and then make it difficult/impossible to use. I suspect if I wait until boarding to book Cagneys and Sabitinis all the acceptable dining times will be snapped up by those without OBC who booked early and paid with their credit card. I guess we will have to hit the jewelry and liquor stores to burn through that OBC. My wife will be happy to do the former!

     Doug

  10. Hmmm. My TA called Princess the other day and got this reply to my OBC:

You should be seeing the full $xxx OBC on your account. (ed: it was there at Princess.com) You can also see the break down of the OBC. Spoke with Princess and the OBC is on your booking $xxx. I asked if the OBC was able to be used pre cruise and here is Princess answer. The OBC can be used as Pre-shore excursion purchase, and Lotus Spa services and Specialty Dining.

But, as we all know, customer service at any cruise line is at best questionable. I'd hate to wait until we board to book specialty dining as we prefer to eat early, and those times seem to go fast. We have a large amount of nonrefundable Princess OBC, plus military and stockholder OBC, so it's gonna be tough to use it all as it is. So I absolutely do not want to pay for dining with my credit card. I guess I will try chat again sometime to try and book with OBC prior to boarding.

  11. I've logged onto Princess.com a couple of times since booking this cruise about 5 days ago. I have booked our MDR times and locations, but I want to book Cagney's and Sabitinis also. When I book a time and date, the screen shows a charge. I want to use my OBC and NOT charge to my credit card right now. I have tried several times to use Princess.com's "Chat", but wait times are more than I can spare.

Question: When can we book Specialty Dining?

Can we use OBC when we book early?

Thanks to you, oh wise ones.😉

     Doug

  12. Subject lines says it all. We're booked on the Regal Princess out of Galveston. Our booking invoice says we have Open Seating. (out of curiosity, what are the traditional dining times if that still exists on Princess?). I wonder when I can make dinner reservations for our MDR meals and also for the specialty dining venues like the Crown Grill. We normally prefer to eat around 1800/6pm at home and we'd like to try to keep that general time.

Thanks for information from those who have cruised Princess lately....we have not.

I was on the Breakaway/Nov 2023 - coffee set up was available at the bars on the Waterfront.

I suppose it depends on where on the ship ones cabin is located. The Waterfront is aft on deck 8, and the regular lido coffee plus is located in the Horizon Court, aka Lido Deck on deck 15. On our next cruise, our cabin is midships deck 13. Nice to have options: $6 for cabin service, or hike down/up for self serve. No matter which option, we'll be having our coffee and croissants on the balcony! 😎

  14. I'm the OP. Thanks to everyone who replied. We decided to book it! We will be on deck 12 in one of the cabins I mentioned earlier. Looking forward to sailing on Princess again, it will be two years since we last sailed on them. They have always been in the top 2-3 cruise lines for us. Now if Princess would just put a ship closer to use, like in NOLA or Mobile!😎

  15. Another question on that cabin<s> location area. I discovered there is a "Skywalk" on the Regal and Royal Princess. It appears that those walking on the skyway (deck 17?) could have a great view onto the balconies of those cabins. And that the view of the sky/stars might be hampered from those cabins? Anyone have any information on that before I book? I am planning to book A518.
