Respectfully, this is a HAL thread so not sure that previous experience on different line is relevant.

Current HAL policy allows for reasonable (actual # is subjective) amount of wine to be brought onboard in carry-on. While there is a stated corkage fee, it may or may not be collected.

    I will delete my post.

  2. So my experience was from 2016, no clue if it has changed at all.

We didn't have the UBP this time, so we went to Publix and bought eight bottles of wine. When we got to the port, after security, we were directed to a side table where a staff member tagged/numbered our bottles of wine and charged us $15US per bottle. That's it.

We would bring a bottle to dinner each night, no questions asked.

  3. I found this article:

    https://news.paxeditions.com/news/buzz/border-testing-decimating-business-travel-says-roundtable-possible-announcement-coming-days

And then the tweet they reference:

    English:

The Trudeau government will announce new border relief in the coming days  We are talking about the end of the tests (PCR or antigenic) required to enter Canada. The entry into force is not determined, but it will be in the next few weeks #polcan

I have read about this happening several times but never to a non-US citizen, so until it actually happens, I guess we will never know.  As the policy is stated, they would fly you to your local Canadian airport on a private plane and then provide transportation for you to get to your home

    Isn’t that what I typed?

  5. Celebrity lost his results and therefore paid for his extra days in the hotel, all food, new flight/cost difference, and new covid test.

He said that he booked his test at FLL that day, but with PCR they only guarantee results in 48 hours. He couldn’t book his flight until he had his results. And it was unlikely he would get a flight the same day he got his results back. So that is why he had to stay on FLL for extra days.

    Makes perfect sense to me.

While ministers cease their normal day to day work and head out on the campaign trail once a writ is dropped, federal departments and agencies continue with their duties and responsibilities during the period of the election. There's no reason to believe that work on the vaccine passport and mixed doses issue didn't carry on apace. A change in government might have led to a halt, reassessment and possible scrapping of the work done to date, but yesterday's results will prevent such an eventuality.

    I was being sarcastic.

I really dislike characterizing the decision to mix vaccine doses as a debacle. It is insulting of those that made the difficult decision and patently false.

Do you really think we would be better off today had we not taken the mixed dose route? Just look south of the border to see the results of lower vaccination rates.

Yikes. Sorry. Pretty much everyone here is complaining about this restricting their travel opportunities, which is why I called it a debacle.

I don't think actually flying people back to their home country would be part of any cruise lines current offerings for those who test positive post-cruise, though it would be wonderful if they did.  If you had specific medevac coverage that included COVID (Medipac perhaps?), I wonder whether they would fly us home if we simply were positive but totally asymptomatic?  Also unlikely?

Royal does do this.  They have done it multiple times already and it is in their terms. They charter a private plane or jet and fly the infected people/party home to their airport, then arrange private transportation to their home. There have been documented accounts of this happening already. I think Celebrity has done it as well.

I haven’t read of any Canadian requiring this service yet (I doubt many are actually cruising right now).

Interesting. So why no news on the Land Border? It would seem to me  that if he's opening up to international visitors that maybe the Land border would open a bit sooner? Maybe they want to wait until tomorrow so as not to appear to be interfering with the election, one way or the other? Also interesting that it says you must be vaccinated to travel into the US. Not sure what vaccines they'll accept and does this mean no more antigen tests?

It says you still need to test three days prior to entry.

This is great news! As we have one person in our party with two different mRNA vaccines who is worried he might not be able to cruise.

However on Royal's website it still says they are not allowing people with mixed mRNA vaccines.  Where are you reading that the mixed vaccines are accepted?
