But it says they are dropping it for large scale events...are they also dropping it entirely?
"Britain plans to drop COVID-19 passports as a legal requirement for large events, The Daily Telegraph reported on Sunday."

It's a good day! The UK govt has scrapped its vaccine passport plans. Science is showing that vaccinated antibodies and infection based antibodies can be long lasting (decades or longer), and it all feels like the world is getting back to normal! Happy Memorial Day. Thank every one of you who served for your service (I know it's not the day to thank, but it's just so important) and a greater thanks to those you have loved who have been lost.
Can you send me a link to this info?

Well, if that is the case, I bet Canada will end up scrapping ours too since we were going to be aligned with Europe lol

I consider my bathing suits my daytime outfits, therefore I bring a different one for each day (with coordinating cover up and flip flops lol). I realize not everyone thinks that way.

Wouldn't they be able to run their vaccinated cruises from Washington and not need to go through all of the hoops from the CDC? I thought it was just Florida who wouldn't allow that to happen.

They also now have the Pacific Coastal on Bliss from Vancouver to LA as available (that one disappeared a while back - I was stalking it). Not sure how they will figure their way around that one, but if it's sailing then I will be on it!!!!
Vancouver won't have cruises this year.

No need to panic.

It's important to check your policy. Personally, we never get travel insurance. The only exception was when we had to cancel a trip to the DR at an all-inclusive due to Covid. I'm glad we had it for that, although the resort would have given us the opportunity to rebook for free, and the airlines would have let us use the credits later. For us, the main components would be the cruise and the airfare, and in these times, they're being very flexible with credits and stuff. And our health insurance covers incidents that occur outside the country, so it's still not an absolute must. But YMMV, as always.
Wait. You don't get coverage if you have to be medically air evacuated off a cruise ship? wow!

Your travel insurance might not work if it's a Level 4...?
-
But if the cruise lines are making vaccinations 100% for every person on the ship, and airlines do not even do this, wouldn't this be a sure bet?
-
But Canada also doesn't want ships in their waters. Even if the US didn't have the PSVA, how would they pass through?

Off topic, but Canadians will be lucky to be completely vaccinated by the end of 2021. September was/is a pipe dream. New Brunswick is already saying it will take the entire year for that province.

Agree! A year out is jumping the shark unless it's payback for Keystone
Seriously? You think this is a tit-for-tat decision? lol

I was thinking our NY to Canada cruise in September was looking pretty unlikely. Canada isn't even scheduled to vaccinate general population until at least August.
Try September at best. Now, some of the Atlantic Provinces are saying by year end. Either way, it's all slow as molasses!

No doubt this will not be good news for the Port Halifax. My waterfront will suffer again this year. So sad.

Ferry services for 2021 season is cancelled. Based on this announcement, cruises to Canada won't likely happen either.

Wrong forum. This is the NCL forum.
I was just trying to maybe give some insight into whether Canada cruises would happen, sorry.
Which forum should I move it to?

Ferry services will not be operating in 2021. Could be telling for the cruise season for the Atlantic Provinces.

Ferry not operating for 2021 season. Telling for the cruise season for the Atlantic Provinces?

This thread reminds of my first cruise back in 2007 on Majesty of the Seas. A three night party cruise with three of us girls going for a long weekend and wanted to bring on booze.
I found a company that specialized in gift baskets that they would send to cruise ships, kind of like a Bon Voyage type of gift. I gifted our cabin 4 bottles of vodka, each was nicely wrapped and in a cello basket. They even put a card in it telling us to enjoy our cruise LOL
When we got back from the muster drill, it was in our cabin waiting for us. I think we only had to pay a couple of dollars more for each bottle. We went to one Royal's private islands and brought a bottle off the ship with us. Since we had a soda package, that covered our mixes. Those were the days!
