  1. I agree, MDR food is pretty much crap. It has to be considering how miserably low the food budget is for the cheap fares Carnival offers.

Enough with the phoney baloney "fine dining" MDR. Time to unbundle food from thecruise fare and outsource food service to a few companies. We'd have better food with Applebee's, outback steakhouse and even a Dennys onboard!

    AND NO MORE SINGING WAITERS.

  2. Ok CCL fans, great discussion so far. Here is another rumor / wild conspiracy my buddy Paco heard from his friend's friend who is in the cruise industry on the corporate side: CCL is going to cut Plat. Benefits and start charging them for the benefits they get now (for free) at a cost under the FTTF program. The price of FTTF goes up, but plats get a discount off the base price. Sounds like a sweet revenue grab, but lousy if it becomes true.

  3. AHOY SHIPMATES,

WAS DISCUSSING THE HMC PROBLEM AT CO'S COCKTAIL PARTY RECENTLY AND THEY SAID ABOUT 30% OF THE TIME IT WAS CANCELLED .

i SUGGESTED THAT THE CASINO SHOULD RUN A BETTING LINE ON IT.

3 TO 2 ODDS SHOULD GET THE GAMBLERS STIRRED UP. LOL

Great idea, but the losers would claim the captain was in on the action working against them!

  4. For some people, complaining is the only way they can hold up a conversation. They dont know what else to talk about.

It's like old people getting mad about politics. Is that how you want to spend your twilight years? Angry and whining about the president and some policy that won't ever effect you? Life is too short.. enjoy the time you have left and let go of that petty stuff that brings you down.

  5. SO I posted this thread to get an answer. What's my chances of getting bumped. Didn't know it would turn into a thread on ethics. Listen What I'm doing is allowed within the rules, and also very smart. My room is the highest inside cabin. I can only get moved to an ocean view or higher. Since there is way more balconies than ocean views, there's a good chance if I do get bumped, it will be to a balcony. That's just being savvy. Some people have it some don't. Rag on me all you want. I think it's funny, and if I don't get bumped I'm going to enjoy my huge handicapped cabin I hope the toilet sits up real high too

I'm surprised there is any "ethics" debate here at all. You are NOT in the wrong. You will be bumped if an individual in need books the cabin. I don't see the problem with that at all.....

It's not like taking a handicapped parking spot, where a person in need wouldn't be able to track you down to move your car.

  6. Get really mad about some trivial aspect of your cabin, such as no chocolates on the pillow, or an offensive towel animal. Make a huge stink and march on down to guest services. Do not buy FTTF so she'll know that you wait in line for a lonnnnnng time. Insist she wait in the cabin for the steward to come fix things. Maybe give the steward a tip to get him in on the whole thing. Are you a good actor? Is flying off the handle about no chocolates the pillow out of character for you?

  7. Not what I would call good movies, but cruise related:

    • Alvin & the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked (features Carnival Dream, but not for very long)
    • Jack & Jill with Adam Sandler (do NOT recommend)
    • Boat Trip - Cuba Gooding, Jr. accidently boards a gay cruise (funny at times, but kind of dumb)
    • Out to Sea with Walter Matthau & Jack Lemmon (same as above)

That's all I've seen that wasn't a disaster or horror film.

Every copy of "Jack and Jill" should be destroyed for the benefit of all humanity.

Cruisr related or not, never, ever consider watching that movie. You have been warned.

  8. I never use a PVP. My last one would contact me so often it was out of control. So I started hitting on her every time she called. I started calling her not about a cruise but to ask her out on a date. And guess what.. she stopped calling!

  9. I couldn't disagree more. I prefer to sail on the Fantasy class. I'm willing to try a spirit class someday but the others are just not my cup of tea. Just too big and crowded for me.

I would like to see improvement in the music offerings. I like live music and miss it on lido deck.

While I agree that they are rust buckets, in no way should they be scrapped. They are what they are.

The only "cruise ship" that I advocated getting scrapped is Bahamas Celebration, which fortunately was severely damaged last year and actually may be scrapped.

Former ferries do not make good cruise ships! Their pathetic lido deck was an insult to lido decks everywhere!

  10. Your "rust bucket" comments are getting very old. Have you ever actually been on a Fantasy class ship? I have been on two, and other than not having all of the new amenities, they were very good cruises.

If you have actually been on one please detail out the issues you had that warrant the "rust bucket" comments.

I love fantasy class ships too... but let's be honest. They definitely are rust buckets. Putting lipstick on a pig still means it's a pig.

  11. I completely disagree. I HAVE tried it and was completely miserable on RC. I was not about to waste my money on a trip I wasnt going to enjoy.

She on the other hand was too stuck up to "slum it" on carnival, even though she could barely afford them and had her grandmother pay for her RC cruises. We are no longer friends, so it is not a problem.

Wow. Truely miserable on a RCI ship? Carnival and RCI have far more in common than not. Sounds like you guys just don't want to find a way to make it work or compromise. It's probably more about getting your way and no one wants to budge.
