It is best to include ALL the facts  when asking  a question instead of the piece meal approach 🤔

Contact Oceania   about your wishes   & ask for  permission in writing

It is not  just a matter of showing up at the port   the cruise line must deal with the authorities in the ports

Thanks for your expert advice. 🙄

I know we have to ask the cruise line and I did update and explained my situation.

Nothings cheap drink wise. My wife got the refreshment package. I believe it was 21.00 a day when she got it for our upcoming cruise. No brainer. 3 drinks, whether its a specialty coffee, bottle of water,or orange juice you are over 21.00 dollars for the day. Non alcohol frozen drinks arent much cheaper then with alcohol. Wanna say about 10.00 if I remember right. Plus you can just try things you have never had. If you dont like it,toss it. Imo worth it if its around 20ish a day.

The specialty coffee is a separate coffee package

    Hello folks,

My wife and I (59 years old) are exploring options for an Alaskan Cruise and have already gotten ourselves thoroughly overwhelmed and confused. I know, embarrassing, right--it can't be that tough, can it?

We don't know which route or cruise line would be best for us. For example, we are considering Holland America "Alaska Explorer" vs. "Inside Passage." Even after reviewing the itineraries, I'm not sure what we should prefer. So what's most important, you ask? Good and obvious question.

We like to hike (moderately strenuous at our peak) and be immersed in nature as much as possible. So what route(s) and cruise lines make most sense for us? Any counsel would be appreciated.

I'm sorry if I've poorly or insufficiently articulated my questions or asked dumb questions--just learning the cruise world.

I would be thrilled and grateful for any info and insights shared!

    Thank you!

Princess has some nice cruise tours. Holland is also nice and Princess agents work both lines

If I recall, we were told our airline carryons are too large.   Do you remember?    We have very nice carryons and I never check them - and don't want 5 other things piled on top of them under the bus.  I want to keep them with me - will they allow them on the bus and train?   And I do not want to take a duffle bag just for the bus/train rides.

    Thanks

The carryon for the coach or train should be small,  like a backpack.

Your luggage will be transported by Princess.

If your carryon has all your clothes,  that is too big.

I don’t have any issue with the port change.  I do have major issues with the reason for the port change.  Imagine chartering a flight (or a tour bus) with a set agenda.  Then, once you’re booked and ready to go, the company says “oh, sorry, we can’t go to all of the stops you expected.  Our plane (bus) can only go at 50 MPH right now, so we have to remove stops, just to make it back in time”. Oh - don’t worry, we’ll give you back 10% of the charter cost… which you can use to buy extra cocktail peanuts”.

It’s one thing for weather, port congestion, or other issues outside of Princess’s control.  But changes like this because their ship isn’t working properly before the sailings…. That’s really pretty unacceptable.

    Really???   Things happen.

Maintenance is a pretty good reason. It is better than the alternitive.

I just booked a May 28 cruise on Princess (my first), but will be in Europe for two weeks before that. Is there a way to get Princess to NOT mail my medallion and pick it up at the pier?

Speak to someone at Princess  so they can have them at CS when you board.

Why are stories like this why you book your own transportation?  The airline cancelled their flight at the "last minute" and they needed to get rebooked in a hurry.  In their case EZ Air should have immediately done it for them if the airline couldn't or wouldn't.  If you were in that situation, wouldn't you have to do all the work yourself and have all the stress anyway?

I, too, make all my air arrangements, but last minute changes or cancellations by the carrier can be a HUGE problem, regardless of who booked the reservation

EZAir flights are always being changed or canceled.

Like I said. EZAir is a headache.

Hello.  Will be in a DB4 tour.  One night at Captain Cook, then transfer to Denali Princess Lodge for three nights, and then the cruise.  Do my husband and I have to pack our "land" clothing and toiletries, etc. in one suitcase and then put our "cruise" outfits in the cruise suitcase?  Very confusing as my land and cruise clothes are pretty interchangable.  Don't quite understand?  Here's the instructions....

"Join Me Onboard" Luggage (for guests who cruise after their land tour)

    • Guests who cruise after their land tour should pack a separate bag for items they will not need on land.
    • This bag is perfect for the items you may need on your cruise but will not need on your land tour, such as formal wear, dress shoes, or dinner jackets. On the land portion of your cruisetour, the dress code is always casual so there is no need for any formal wear.
    • All luggage is delivered to the first destination on your land itinerary. Upon departure from that city, the "Join Me Onboard" tagged bags will be securely stored until they are delivered to your stateroom onboard.

I worked for Princess at one hotel and at the Whittier Port.

You will get a Welcome package when you check into your hotel that will have luggage tags for your trip.

One bag for your land portion and one bag for the cruise. You will put the tags on your cruise bag with your name.

The next day you will put your bags outside your room that night. They will be picked up by Princess and taken to the correct lodge and correct ship.

You will have a small carry on for your trip on the coach or train (depending on what transportation you choose).

DO NOT put meds,  money,  travel docs or anything personal in your bags going to the ship or lodge

What a mess. Princess never should have introduced a new program app system during a shutdown when they had no income revenue and reduced staffing to handle all the massive issues. This was and remains a giant error. There is no excuse for two hours on the phone.

Princess should have paused the medallion app, retained the cruise personlizer which did not have many issues, should have delayed things like Dine My Way and the check in windows. Keep things simple instead of making them complicated and buggy, thus causing massive phone backups.

Princess could have added on ship app features without changing the entire booking system leading to issues just like the OP mentioned.

Time for new top real leadership.

The Medallion app is not new. It is almost 3 years old. We have cruised twice with it with no issues.
