  1. Well after reading the reviews and running into my own issues with this app, tech services needs to go back to the drawing board. With the Medallion being such a big star and being rolled out across several ships, I am surprised I haven't seen more talk about it here.

People are pointing out the problems but it doesn't seem like they are heard.

I'm a heavy coffee drinker and ask my waiter to bring it & real cream (not milk) at the beginning / throughout each meal. Its real brewed coffee in the MDRs & I've never been turned down.

We do the same at the Horizon. Real cream in the coffee there is really good!.

  3. Boy, everyone is taking a hit on that crane accident.  Three canceled cruises (April 7, 14 and 21). Cruise parking $348,000. Hotels taking a hit also. RC offered passengers… a full refund on their fare, a certificate in the value of 100% of their cruise be are paid and airfare change fees up to $200 per customer for domestic flights and $400 for international flights?

An online newspaper in the Bahamas has tweeted video of what seems to be a crane that has partially collapsed into the stern of Oasis in Freeport. (It seems that maybe it was there for a week-long wet dock?) It also seems she is listing slightly to starboard. Can't find any other details at the moment.

From what I read, the ship was oversized for that #2 dock

If by chance you need recommendations for snorkel operators or transportation on any of the islands be happy to help. We did 17 days in Tahiti on Wind Spirit In December. You'll get onboard your ship, look around and thank heaven you decided to visit Tahiti. Best wishes.

We did this in Moore a in Oct and it was AWESOME.. The price was $213 for both of us on one jet ski.

How is the coffee on the Crown Princess?  We are trying to figure out if we should invest in the new version of the coffee card.  If you order a cappuccino in the dining room, is that complimentary with breakfast and/or dinner, or do you incur a bar charge?

    Thanks for your help.

The coffee card is a great deal if you are a coffee person. All coffee drinks hot or cold are covered with the card.

I have several questions regarding the Crown Grill.

    1.  Since when...did they start charging you gratuity?  Make a reservation (pre-cruise) clearly states that "Price excludes gratuity".

    2.  Has any one tried to make pre-reservations, paid, and then tried to transfer it to a gift voucher (and get refunded pre-payment)?

    3.  It's been a long time since I've tried to make a reservation after getting on the ship.  It is easier to do on a longer voyage (15 day)?

    4.  Any one remember what night is Italian?  This is my least favorite menu except for the Tiramisu.

I know about the lobster surcharge (surf and turf).

    Thanks for your answers.

We made our reservations when we booked our cruise

Not sure which nite is Italian but I think we might have Octoberfest.

That is the universal definition of "clothing optional."  Complete nudity is permitted on a clothing optional beach.  Female toplessness is a different issue.  Female toplessness is legal on all beaches french-side.

I believe the beaches on the French side don't care if it is topless or nude.

I don’t want to minimize the damage that was done to this beach, but did want to provide an update. Just spent the day there and it was as beautiful as ever.

We arrived at around 9:30 am and there weren’t very many people. But by 10:30 - 11:00 the beach was as busy as we’ve ever seen it.

There are now three beach clubs open:

    Bikini Beach

    Kon-Tiki

    Kakao Beach

The three are separated by some distance. All have restaurants and bars with comfortable lounge chairs and umbrellas. The lounge chairs are all new and super comfortable. We spent the day at Bikini Beach club. Two chairs with an umbrella were $30. Restrooms were clean and nice.

There were plenty of taxi cabs. Cost is $9 pp if there are four of you. $8 pp if there are six. And $25 for two.

It was a bit windy today and there seemed to be a bit more sea grass than usual, but we love Orient and are so grateful to see it coming back to life. Still a lot of ruin and construction in the condos and business in the area, but the beach is great.

Are any of the 3 beaches you listed, clothing optional?

    Thanks

I wonder how the automatic opening of the door when you're approaching matches your face to the photo stored on the device...I'm sure there is a way, the new iPhone's have face recognition, but is that built into the door opening mechanism?  Come home without your glasses on and it won't open for you.  🙂

Just a techie-type that finds this question interesting...

What I posted was off the Princess site. I suggest you contact Princess with your techie-type question.

  11. Your best to plan an early departure for your coach (transfer) from the Cook to Whittier. You are assigned a time for your transfer once you get to the Eagan Center. Its best to get there early

You will not have any time the morning of your cruise to spend in Anchorage?

I think the question is, though, what's to prevent someone who finds your dropped medallion from going to a board, finding your cabin number (along with directions to your room).  Then go to you cabin, open the door, and steal something?:

Can someone else use my Medallion to get into my room or charge onboard purchases to my account?

Your physical Medallion does not store any personal information; instead, it serves as the portal to your encrypted digital profile, which contains your onboard security photo. If the profile photo does not match the guest using the device, then stateroom access will not be granted and onboard purchases will not be approved.

So, you are saying that there is a "Go Home" capability on the kiosks and directions are provided without positive identification of the requester and without the requester entering the cabin number.

Thank you for the clarification.  I will yield to your experience.

I agree that his is a breech of security,  I might quibble, a bit, with your previous comment that resolution of this breech is a major software change.  My experience is that removing a capability is not that difficult.  The "elegance" of such a change might be questionable.  However, in a case like this, where Princess might, very possibly, be liable for abetting the commission of a crime, expeditiousness supersedes elegance.

Also, however, I would like to speculate on the mind set of an evil-doer who finds a medallion on a ship.  He has to think to himself, "Hmmm.  That medallion is broadcasting its presence to thousands of sensors on this ship.  If the person who lost it has not reported the loss, then there is nothing suspicious about it's movements, and I'm free to try to profit.  If, however, it's loss is reported at any time that I am carrying it, I might as well be carrying a sign that says 'Crime in Process.'  So, do I feel lucky?"

MissP22, again, I am going to speak from speculation rather than actual knowledge, but I would assume that activity from any medallion that has been reported as lost would be reported, with alarms, to the ship's security department.

I personally, have lost many hotel card keys.  "Lost" may not be a good choice of words.  Without exception I have left my hotel room without pocketing the key card.  If I ever cruise on a medallion-enabled ship, I am not going to be concerned about it falling out of my pocket.

My cavalier attitude, notwithstanding, your last sentence is, of course, prudent.

They should put a pin option on the boards so w\o the pin, there would not be a security breech.

Coffee and Tea in the Dining Rooms and the Buffet is free BUT the coffee in these venues is not fresh brewed but made from some concoction.

Coffee and coffee speciality drinks from the barista (International Cafe) are fresh brewed - think Starbucks, and are not free.

We love the coffee card as you can use it for all minds of drinks at the International Cafe including frozen drinks.
