Tips mean lower fees, taxes and commissions on the base fare. If you want to pay 500 middlemen more money, then build it into the fare.
I want prices to be higher so fewer cruise ships are overloaded.
I actually email RCCL executives regularly asking if they can raise prices 20-30% more.
Not Suprised!!

I agree it's not anything I like to be seated with a party of 5 family.
And as I said when he came over I asked next week if i can sit with not a group or family.
Btw i ate in the WJ the previous 2 nights. Which is why we hadnt eaten together before last night. ...
Because I received a item not how I expected ... just the poblano soup without the corn and chorizo I'm at fault? I'm as glad as you all not to eat together again. Who wants to horn in on a family of 5. Not me.
Your Punking us right???

Lol, we are Carnival old timers...been cruising on them for over twenty years. I defended the brand for many years and felt they offered a good product. Not so much any more...

Oh my, I have mixed feelings about this. First of all, they don't CLEAN the cabin twice a day. The second visit is for touch up....fresh towels, empty trash, ice, and the elusive paper copy of the daily activities (if available). The gratuity rate is going up and the services offered is going down. We left Carnival because of these guest "improvements". Service on Carnival has become a joke and I would hate for Royal to go down that path. At least Carnival has lower pricing. We can easily do with once a day cabin servicing. We leave everything neat as a pin. That is the way we live at home, also. I do like coming back in the evening to a refreshed cabin with no wet towels hanging around the small bathroom. We cruise in suites, so I guess we won't have any changes. I feel for families in smaller cabins. How do they keep their small space in order? People seem to accept these many cutbacks throughout all areas of the ship along with price increases. We on the other hand are evaluating our future cruising plans.
But on Carnival you get to be on "Youtube"...Would that be a "Improvement?🤪

On Wonder now, was on Harmony two weeks ago...
Noticed on both sailings that there is/was a "takeover" by extended family (think 4 generations here). The folks get there around 5:30 or 6 and rearrange the furniture, pull in all of the strollers and bring down pillows so they can pull chairs together for the little ones to sleep later in the evening. Plates of food start rolling in around 7 and the party gets going from there.
18 bar seats on Wonder and to my amazement 12 of them were occupied by tweens ordering virgin frozen drinks at 8:30 last night.
I know it's tough to keep all of these kids entertained but sleeping in an entertainment venue is a bit of a stretch.
I am over the big ships while kids sail free (back to Celebrity with hopes all the old folks are sailing) 🙂
This wasn't one of the "Family" reunions was it?........Like on Carnival?

Now for the commentary…..day 2/3 observations….
- if you waited to purchase surf, or surf and steam until you boarded, surf only was not available. The only option was surf and stream, and by number of devices. I don’t recall this on previous sailings, but maybe this is the norm now.
- I miss the paper compasses. I know you can ask your cabin steward for one, but I forgot to ask and now I haven’t seen him. Tried to get one at guest services. nope. Saving a tree, no doubt, but now they make you sign zero dollar slips for the free C & A beverages. I have a hard time keeping up with Royals ever changing and contradictory rules….the biodegradable straws are a welcome change tho 😂
- this is my first sailing post Covid that the crew is (mostly) maskless. How nice it is to see faces and smiles again!
- the windjammer is a nightmare this week, and now I know why…. On sea days they only have food being served on one side. There is seating open on both sides , but everyone is forced thru the same side for serving. Add to that the food station flow around the circles is an awful configuration to begin with. Pretty sure they are around 5600 people so it’s not like this decision is driven by reduced capacity.
- music at the pool alternates between top hits, reggae/Caribbean and Christmas carols. Strikes me as funny…. When you live in the Midwest, you’d never hear Christmas music when you are wearing a swim suit 😂
I was on the Allure in Late October/early November and the windjammer set up and food was really bad..and Im no foody....Hey if you get a chance a see a bartender name Jousha tell him Hi from the MP..Thanks

It totally benefits Royal as a cost cutting effort: fewer room stewards, less towels to wash, less laundry attendents, less water to produce on board, less cleaning chemicals for the rooms, less soap in the laundry. All under the guise of "sustainability".

I don't think the Indonesian Police or Military teach a lot of Customer service but I get your point..
You have to have well rounded Experienced person to run your ship's security...When your ship is going in and out of "lets say" US ports who do you think Customs and the Local Police will want to cooperate with more, some guy from India as a example? or a Former Chief of Police or US Marine from the states, possibly some guy who did a couple years in the Canada or British Navy then 20 Years on with Metro Police of London?.......In 2018 I was chatting with one of the head Pursers on a Carnival ship and we got to talking about Security, I explained to her that I had flirted with the idea of going thru the hiring process back in the Mid 1990's as Chief of Security on one of their ship's. She asked about my experience and when I told her, She flat out told me that "They" couldn't afford me..That told me alot!!.
Sorry Forgot to answer you second question...The answer would be Yes!!
ArmyCop42, Looks like we have the same number in our name, Well we know where that comes from don't we😀I read your post and some of the others...I agree with some of what you said, However i would not have mentioned a nationality because it gives a lot of CC posters a way to attack you especially if you have a center or right of center thought process...
You failed to mention one thing that the cruise lines should do, and that is require Passports!! that would cut down on a lot of these fights for these "Family" groups on shorting sailings...Since your new,
Let me give you some advice, Don"t bother with posting a lot especially about security or politics...Your never win the fight...Where in MO are you from?

Because it's the law, not to mention the right thing to do. If one is caught, they can fine, confiscate the items in question, and permanently revoke Global Entry. Not a chance I am willing to take.
Besides, about 2/3 of the time, I don't get charged the duty I owe because the agent is flabbergasted that I was honest. The other 1/3, I pay up.
As the Saying goes in the Bill Murry Movie "Stripes"..........." that's the fact Jack"
