  1. Thank you for encouragement...:)..Truly I need every one because I weaken and then try try again.

He is a crabby my way or the highway guy who occasionally goes with the flow now that we are at the great grands and two sets of mothers to outdo him lol. Occasionally he is wonderful especially as a friend and in a social fun experience; everyone's favorite REAL cowboy and businessman in many situations and the first to help in a real ranch disaster..even here at the ranchettes. Strung up Montana style and nothing happens but a disaster on a ranch style and those special times you get him to mellow with you on the same page are awesome and I am better and better at it lol.

I think cruising is so great for him now with come and go sciatica.

That fly there and not drive and pull horses all the time would be a good deal to discover; but I am not not going to push it anymore; I tried that. He cruised 2 times with mom; once with 2 youngest girls of his and then with a grandchild....

Just not me..and I could repeat for him if all he wants is to do Alaska again..I want to be in NW Montana and talk him into something from west coast being closer there...pack and be ready...lol..we will see. The proper amount of sneaky.

I might give..a casual mention once in a while on a deal...catch him in right moment. And trying to spend more time with him each year is my goal. As tough as he is one knows what is ahead...and I am not ready...sigh...thanks again for encouragement. He is such a ornery low patience solo unit western type...the good bad and ugly of it. But he can be charming and fun and honestly loving and surprise himself!!

And again OP...just have a great time...:).

It rarely is as bad as our worries and if you take the best and leave the worst..maybe some tips here help...

And with that Nice, Kind and Always Thoughtful Post...Lets END this Thread with a Positive Note and take the Neg. Post somewere else!!!

    Have a Great Cruise People

  2. Hi OP,

Some posters have recommended renting Cars Or Jeeps when you visit Couzmel...Read Trip Advisors report on Renting Cars in Couzmel. Carnival used to warn people about renting Cars, Scooters in Mexico. I could go on but just check it out for yourself and if you want info? Just ask!!

Hope you have a Great Cruise

    Michael

  3. Carnival does not pay a good commission to the TA, so as for me a solo traveler I am not going to get all the "Goodies" like some people. One TA in my town would not even get back to me because with me there no money in it.!!!

For the last couple of Cruises I have booked with my PVP'S (One made Coach)

Using my Military Status I get a great deal, Insides but on Higher Decks, some cool cash and I am happy.

  4. It is hard to be "giving" and change after one thing is decided..that creates a change...then with her kids coming boom another change...they kept piling up...I see the added worry...good on you to talk daughters into 2 nights and changing activities to kid friendly....I think in this case it is more a pow wow with your self and daughters and blowing off steam here which is good..to get support back from understanding ones and then devil's advocate stuff can remind you of angles possible at their worst. I take it you go..a lot and your daughters will get to go fairly often. I think this one...make it about the people you added on. Your daughters can see your giving heart...you can see what you already know in action...just what surprises come your way doing for others...give her breaks when the camp does not work out and I think it will work out as much or more as it would have anyway. Sometimes our hearts give more than our egos want..then bingo..it is what it was supposed to be anyway...altered..but a happier bigger different thing..you are giving her a chance to balance out so much with her kids..kind of mini prepare them..and probably prove to them she will be happy and fun and strong as possible through this...by not crying around but trying something new at your suggestion...anyway pardon me because I am "supposing" too but hopefully in a supportive way. I cant tell you as a solo unit how much i have done the same..because oddly with family near and all with kids and grandkids, it is all about them i am spoiled and like to go alone even though i live alone..when I don't want the "giving" surprises...but my happiest memories...at least half of them..are the Massive PANDIMONIUM and as my grandma put it..lol.."bedlam"..with the whole family cramed somewhere due to some event..and all the cars getting there...lol..sometimes the best were the sub-zero games and i hate sports..but not with my nephews playing ..Surprise!!! So anyway...this trip may not be what initially dreamed about showing your friend...and have a different pace...but could have the best love/sharing/good feeling lessons around. This is how I see Carnival at it's best...oriented to people who have families whether with them or not...and who also have budgets so easier to negotiate extras with your xtra pennies together. Don't shoot me..long winded Montanan here...make this trip about her...and your daughters and you will have the best time..and can be grateful for the many more you will have...praying for her...your heart made the exact right decision...to ask her..IMHO. Love, Sarah.... (writing before last posts came in..sorry) My mom passed 4 years ago..kind of early since her mom lived to 97; (76) so I am colored by that too in full disclosure.

WoW!!! This is one of the most Heartfelt and best post I have seen in my almost 2 years on CC. This post actually reminded me that there are still decent people on CC.

  5. Agreed. It's not Carnival's fault that Amazon sold you gift cards that someone else stole (or sold two cards with the same number). I've had good luck with Amazon's customer service in the past; I'm surprised they blew you off so quickly.

I am not sure if a good Lawyer and a jury would agree with your above statement

    Michael

  6. Or instead of making it disappear, Carnival could more competitive with their past guest program and do what other cruise lines do which is to automatically give equal status to spouses and immediate family members. When we sail on Royal, all of our cards say Platinum but technically I'm the only one that has taken the required number of cruises for that status.

And you can take it one step further. Our last cruise was aboard MSC and they matched my Carnival status to their program. And although they didn't give every family member the same status, they extended all benefits to every one of them (we ended with 4 of everything).

Another thing that a lot of Carnival cruisers have begged for is for similar status on sister cruise lines under the Carnival Corp. Celebrity, Azamara and Royal do this as well.

There's a lot that Carnival can do entice past guests to return, but for whatever reason, it doesn't seem like they care that much.

Do you mean Immediate Family Members under 18 traveling with you. Then I agree...Over 18 then they need to get there own Plat/Diam Cards!!

    Michael

  7. Not that I owe you an explanation but I would describe myself as EXTREMELY moderate. Also, not that it's any of your business but I've been a registered Republican since I was 18, love freedom, and love love love America and thinks it's the best country in the world.

If believing marriage is a social and religious institution and shouldn't be regulated or sanctioned by the government, parents should be able to decide how to raise their kids within reason, people should be able to make personal health decisions, and that gay people aren't demons makes me "super liberal" or a troll in your eyes, I guess I'll just have to live with it. :D

First of all I just set you up and you took the bait. I wanted to see if the other poster's opinion(comment) was correct and it was!!!!

    Michael

  8. You took the bait. Stevefrisco's trying to hijack this thread as he has previous threads so that he can rant and fight with people about this. I've watched it play out before in smoking threads, but posting it in a teen curfew thread, that's a stretch. He must be getting desperate to find a way to talk about this again.

So would you say he a true Troll or just a Extreme Liberal???

    I'm Lost??

    Michael

  9. Hello My Good Folks.....I will be in Couzmel twice in Feb and would like to do this Trainer program at the Dolphin Place in Couzmel. The problem is that it is 5 1/2 hours and I am not sure if it will fit into the Ships time frame. Has anybody off a ship been able to do this......Carnival does not offer this program.

    Thanks

    Mike

  10. To the OP:

I get your complaints and they are legit. You are the one who experienced what you did. I didn't care for our Legend cruise to Alaska. Love the scenery and we will be back next year on a cruise to Alaska - just not on Carnival. We experienced the same thing you did with the food situation. We also ate brunch in the MDR (without a screaming bloody murder kid who frequented the MDR). They sat us at a table on the aft end of the ship which the table shook the whole time and roared. We ordered the steak and eggs and the steak so so tough even the knife couldn't cut it. Being platinum we have priority debarkation, but we along with Diamond and FTTF were held back from debarking first. The ones who had Carnival excursions were let off first in Juneau. The CD lied through her teeth with us. So, I hear your complaint and I don't blame you. We're sticking with Princess.

Great... then feel free to take the Carnival Platinum logo off your posts!!!!

  11. You also need a passport to catch up at a foreign port. You can't fly there without one.

OP Sorry that this happed to you, which shows why I am so paranoid about making sure I have my ids with me at all times. I hope this incident in the future will Encourage the use of Passports.

  12. Did they tell you that if you take their portion of the tip off and you hand them cash, they have to turn that cash in so it can be distributed evenly? Did they also tell you if you take their portion

of the tip off, they are called in and questioned as to why the customer removed the tip? You are not doing them any favors by removing tip, give them extra and leave grat. on the bill.

    Pat

And who told you this tall tale or do you just want to argue with me...Seeing that I don't list every cruise I have (18) and that I travel solo and make more friends with the crew than do other people(Tourist)I seem to glean a lot of info from my friendships.. On my last cruise......Why do I even bother to explain this stuff to somebody who thinks that a Cabin Steward has to pool his tips with his other Cabin Stewards.....

    Michael

  13. I rather use cash on most of the port stops over credit cards. Even though I tell my bank I'll be traveling and where I don't need them putting a stop on my card or anything. And the cash comes in handy for tips to your tour guides.

Also have a few $1s. Have some to tip the porters for your bags when you arrive for embarkation. I tip $1 a bag. Also if you plan on going to the piano bar or ordering room service it's customary to tip $1 or 2.

Sorry but $1 per bag for the Porters is Horrific......So 25 years ago....I tip at least $5 per bag or more...I could go on.....

  14. Been asked a couple of times but I still don't see an answer... Why on Earth would anyone ever remove the gratuities? Do you not tip the waiter when you go out to dinner or the bellhop that carries your luggage? I would assume that removing them would indicate to Carnival that you considered your service to be unacceptable.

I do! But only the Room Stewards Part....Why because on my last two cruises,

I became Friends with my RS:)...So I pull his portion and add extra to make sure he gets his Cash now!!....The rest I leave on..because its easier!!!.......But I am suspicious about this new add on for Service Support or what ever they call it!!!

  15. I would advise against using a debit card to purchase anything - there are so many instances when the hold on your funds will be greater than the actual purchase, it is easy to overdraft. You also have more options for fraud protection with a credit card than you do with a debit card, and if your debit card does get stolen, you may not find out until your account is overdrawn.

Totally not true with Bank Of America at least the fraud part. How true on the

    other parts!!
