  1. Last month we enjoyed the Funfetti cake on the first day of the cruise at the Lido Buffet on Carnival Magic.

When we sailed Carnival Radiance last August we were told by a Sous Chef the Funfetti cake isn't served on that ship.

We sail Carnival Panorama next month and I'm writing to ask if anyone recalls if the Panorama

serves the Funfetti cake? I know I read here in 2019 the Funfetti is only available on embark day

but I don't know if this is still the case.

I won't get my hopes up unless someone posts good news here for me. Thank you for reading.

  2.  You may have to shop at the 725 Ponce De Leon store, this just in:

ATLANTA — It's the end of an era in Buckhead. After 47 years in business, the Kroger, better known as "Disco Kroger" is shutting its doors.

The grocery store located at 3330 Piedmont Road in Atlanta will be officially closing on Friday. They said their lease ends in 2023 and redevelopment in the area continues.

  3. While we're on the subject, I'd like to talk about Carnival shipboard security operations. Other than gangway duty I rarely see security patrolling the decks on Carnival ships. We've all seen the late night brawls in the dance clubs on youtube with security attempting to restore order. Ask yourself how often have you seen a security team member patrolling the hallways on the decks where the sleeping cabins are located monitoring the halls to see if someone left their cabin door open, to record the location of scooters and wheelchairs left in the corridors in violation of the safety rules, or use their nose to be on alert for a potential smoldering fire in a linen closet? I can't think of one time in 28 Carnival cruises that I've seen that happen. Not once.

If prevention is worth a pound of cure the security department should focus more on prevention than putting out disturbances on an "as needed" basis. From the example of the OP security can't even do this right and respond to incident reports long after the disturbance is over.

  4. This photo was taken aboard the Carnival Spirit yesterday, Thanksgiving, from the main dining room dinner per an internet posting since removed.

We've known for years Carnival can't serve fresh carved turkey in the MDR for the holiday and uses pressed turkey instead.

We much prefer dressing up for family photos and then changing into comfortable clothes and heading to the lido where

whole turkey is carved to order on Thanksgiving.

I'm a realist and I get that pressed turkey will be served in the MDR but we love that Carnival offers us a choice and it is still one of the few mass market cruise lines that offers carved turkey on this special day in one of its venues.

The whole turkey photo was taken last Thanksgiving by family on the Panorama.

We like the idea of dressing up a bit and having a sit down dinner for the holiday but I'm seriously considering trying to talk my family into lido the next time.

Some guests who choose the lido are dressed nicely there. Families especially seem to come shortly after they have their portraits taken by the ship photographers. Parents with little ones look happy because dad can loosen his belt buckle and eat hearty and moms don't have that anxious look like one of their children will spill their milk.

I hope it works out well for your family whatever they decide.

  6. OP, maybe you should have chosen a different title for this hot topic. I'm surprised more people aren't commenting TBH. My Carnival cruises have been a zoo lately and this new information being shared with guests must be a direct response to all the poor reviews they are receiving post cruise and guest complaints while on their ships. Of course the you tube videos of the fights on the dance floors only throw fuel on the fire of this HOT topic.

    Thanks for posting.

Sounds like you have considered this safe enough to do and have thought it worth the trouble, although I am not sure in this atmosphere I would do that since I am traveling alone.

Life is full of risks. The best one can expect in this situation is a happy ending 😉

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Eli, she seems very level headed and is an experienced cruiser.

I have found this to be true most of the time, too. I did scratch my head when she wrote before leaving for Europe that she was concerned about the cleanliness of the bed linens on the ship. She asked for suggestions on what kind of laundry detergent to bring with her to Europe so she could wash all the bed linen. I'd like to know what she decided or if detergent was needed. The ship does seem to need lots of TLC that's for sure.
