  1. Food in the International Cafe is free but the coffee is not unless you have Princess Plus or Princess Premier package.

Self serve laundry has a cost.  My understanding is the only time you don't have to pay for laundry is during the ships inaugural year (currently people are reporting having free laundry on the Discovery.)

I'm still confused... folks here are saying it's a casino offer, but honestly I don't gamble that much. I mean, I think my total coin in and table play last cruise amounted to around $400 or so playing slots and $5-$10 hands of blackjack. Hardly a whale...

I am by no means a high roller and have only been on one Princess cruise back in 2016, but I still can book under the casino rates that seem to be the same rates that others post on here.  Getting ready to take my 2nd Princess cruise on the Discovery next month where I was able to get a mini-suite for $599 cruise fare using casino rate.

Actually it does appear bookable contrary to my post above. The price is displayed after cabin selection, but it goes on to explain that the comp cabin deposit is refunded to OBC making the total fare equal to taxes/port fees.

Ahhhh I should have read the WHOLE sentence....I got as far as non refundable and then stopped.  That does explain what I saw as far as OBC once I clicked on the View applied promos link.  Thanks for clarifying that for me.

  4. So I had to login to see that price.  I decided to do a mock booking just to see what the final price would be.  I knew I would have to pay the port and tax fees, but what is the Comp Cabin Deposit?  I understand deposits, but this one is different and one I've never seen before.

When I booked our March 2023 cruise late last year, one of the "perks" was a $100 per person "Shore Excursion Credit". That shows at Princess.com along with my Shareholder and Military benefit. I know if not used only the last OBC can be refunded .

However, we do not plan on taking any shore excursions through the ship, and I wonder if our $200 can be used for something else, such as the onboard gift shop, specialty dining, etc. I had planned to use that $200 for our airport transfers, but when I booked those my OBC was not deducted and I was told that would be charged to my credit card.

So, anyone lately had and used their Shore Excursion Credit for anything other than a Princess tour? My wife already informed me she will gladly burn it up in the casino if we can't find any other way. 😉

My CVP assured me that I could use the Excursion Credit as regular OBC for my cruise next month. As a matter of fact, when I look at my travel summary it’s showing as OBC and does not say excursion credit—says onboard credit promotion.

  6. @8 Westies Mom I did a Hawaii cruise back in 2015. I found it very easy to rent a car and do my own tour. Car rental (at the time) was pretty cheap through Discount Hawaii Car Rental. They have a great policy where you don’t pay for the rental until you pick it up so if your ship misses a port, you wouldn’t be charged. I did a lot of research and made a plan for each port (and and a backup plan because “stuff” happens.) I highly recommend you skip Waikiki/Honolulu and drive to other areas on Oahu (we had a nice easy hike to Moana Falls).

So happy to find your current Live thread as I love your humor and writing style. Happy ##th birthday, which is really the new 40. I’m just a few months behind you in May (also having a birthday that rhymes with mixty). My deal is to wake up in Hawaii on my actual birthday whenever it ends in a zero so this year I’ll be in my happy place on Kauai. It makes big birthdays so much easier to slide into.

Thanks for taking us along and have a great cruise!

Kauai is my favorite place to go for a land vacation ❤️

    Hi,

We have had the Beverage packages on many cruises and find that we hardly use them.

This time we went Standard and plan to purchase our drinks.

How much are drinks such as a Margarita or Daiquiri?

On past cruises I've seen "Drink of the Day" for a discounted price that was listed in the daily print outs, but can't remember which cruise lines we were on that offered it.

Does Princess offer a Drink of the Day at a discounted price?

    Thanks!

since we do not pay for the cabin, in some cases the cost of the cabin can run over $4,000 and we never gamble that much, so if you are paying $4,000 for your cabin and we pay nothing, but lose $2,000 total - who is ahead?

So true.  I hope one day to be offered a free cabin.

From time to time I noticed great rates being offered by Princess.  Although we are elite members, we are never offered any significant rates, other than the general advertised generic "sales" throughout the year.  How long, how often, what games do we need to play in the casino before being one of the chosen ones?   Thanks for any input.😂😂😂

I am only gold level and tend to play more table games than slots, but I am by no means a high roller lol.  I play the lower tables ($10 usually) but do tend to sit for a couple hours each night.  My preferred game is Ultimate Texas Holdem but will sometimes play blackjack or 3 card poker.  I got an offer a few months ago and was able to snag a mini suite on the Discovery for $599 pp (before taxes or perks.)  Not sure I did anything special to be sent offers.

We were on the Discovery in October and the tenders dropped us off in the harbor just west of Stearns Wharf.  There were vendors and transportation waiting just outside the drop off point.  It was a short walk to the pier and State Street.

@JeffT237 Is the red circle where the tender dropped you off?

  12. Can someone tell me where the Princess tender at Santa Barbara drops you off?  I'm looking at Google Maps and it looks like it could be near Stearns Wharf/Pier Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara Landing, or Point Castillo......maybe none of these lol.  Just trying to get an idea of what I might do for the day there and where I'll be able to walk to. TIA.

Especially when covid protocols showed the real loss of gambling income, because nonsmokers DIDN'T make up the loss as they said they would.  5 months, 5 months without smoking in the casinos and everyone who said they'd gamble didn't.

My issue with this argument is the ships were sailing at 25%-50% capacity at this time so not really a fair assessment. I agree with the others that talk about Celebrity Cruises—every Celebrity ship I’ve been on, the casino is very crowded each evening and often times I can’t find a table with an open seat.
