  1. We also rented golf carts on Bonaire on our late November cruise and did the southern route and went to Sorobon beach for lunch then sat on chairs and had a swim. It was great. Water was so warm and not rocky like a lot of beaches on Bonaire. When we went the bridge that takes you to Sorobon was out so we had to double back I think about 1/2 way into town and take an interior road to Sorobon which was fine but not as nice as the ocean front drive elsewhere. You will enjoy it. If you have time and feel like it you can do part of the north side. But you can only go so far then I recommend you turn around. If you continue on you will be stuck on a one way road and then you are committed. It would take a long time to finish on a golf cart. We liked the south side better than the north side which we had done on a previous visit in a twizzie.
  2. You will enjoy the golf carts in Bonaire. We did at the end of November. We did the south tour and have previously done the north side in a twizzie. Depending on if you want to spend the whole day I would do the south tour. The golf carts don’t go that fast so I think it would take forever to do the north side. You can do part of North but once you commit to the one way section on the north side you are committed and have to continue the whole way. We did the south as far as we could…bridge out so couldn’t go all the way around then came back and took an inside road to sorobon beach and had a nice lunch and then found some beach chairs and went for a swim. The water was amazingly warm. For the abc’s…our favourite cruise we recommend bringing water shoes as beaches in Curacao and bonaire can be very rocky. In Curacao we like Mambo beach if you go really early. we were there before 9 and left at noon we are glad we did as several buses showed up and it looked like it was going to be a zoo. That being said there are several outdoor restaurants you can eat at. We were on the Equinox as well…over Thanksgiving and we found it was really quiet at night we were shocked that there were available seats at the martini bar on most nights. I have never seen that before but the were a lot of very elderly passengers on the ship!
  3. We just got off the Equinox on Nov 30th. We had a great time. Some service issues in the main dining room but they did work hard…probably newer staff. Wine steward and room steward were excellent. Thought most of the food in main dining room was pretty good. Thought food in ocean view was also pretty good. We always went to ocean view early for breakfast to beat crowds and went to ocean view 10 minutes before lunch service. We always got a table outside as was our preference. Find table then dh goes and gets his food then I go and get mine. Solves the wandering around with plates looking for table. Overall things were better than expected but maybe because my expectations were low as all the negative comments here scared me a bit.
  4. fly and Sail…it was to Miami so 45 minute drive. it took so long because we had to wait for them to load 3 buses to Fort Lauderdale with all the people and all the luggage before our bus to Miami showed up then it took a long time to get all the luggage for our bus to get put on as it was one guy doing it who was not young and not in good shape that’s why it took so long and why I recommended not booking the shuttle and just taking a cab or Uber
  5. We just got off equinox on the 30th and the price of conundrum red was $14 + gratuity. Red Caymus was $32. So wow Conundrum has gone up $5 in a short time period.
  6. We got off the Equinox on the 30th. Yes turn down twice a day. The shows were topper I think it was called and elysium, plus a broadway songs show. We had a boy band act, Neil Diamond impersonator, violinist. Our review is similar to op but we didn’t have great dining room service this time around. Took 4 nights before I finally got a cocktail in MDR. I would say I wanted a cocktail when arriving and the guy would show up just before dessert. No drink package so I was paying. Coffee was also a difficult thing it took 4 nights to get that figured out. They had no idea about cream for coffee. Finally got it and it was curdled. Eventually sorted out. Wine steward was great. Food was better than expected in MDR. cabin steward was awesome. Great cruise overall
  7. We just took the shuttle from port Everglades because we’re going to Miami airport. It was chaos! We were off the ship at 8:30 ish and we didn’t get to the airport until almost noon. The FLL shuttles went first but for $24.99 per person it is way less hassle and 1/2 the price to just catch a cab. We will never do the shuttle again even to Miami. Cab or Uber. Wont do hotel shuttles to port anymore either. I’m not sure what they were charging but our Uber from Crown plaza was $6+ tip.
  8. We are just off equinox and this is second hand info. People we became friendly with were celebrating their 50th anniversary and were going to do a vow renewal until they found out it was $2500. Decided not to do it. I did however see two service dogs one dressed in a pink sequinned tutu getting ready to get married.
  9. We just got off Equinox on Thursday on a 9 night abc islands cruise. chic nights were night 4 and night 8. Haven’t eaten in blu so can’t comment on that. The food in the main dining room was pretty good all served hot. there is pickle ball, they have rackets, I don’t believe there is a charge, I think it was available from 10-2. Our cruise was very windy, more so than previous cruises so pickle ball players said it wasn’t ideal. Plus I heard that the courts are not the proper size. in the daily it would mention LGBTQ meetings grand cayman we did 7 mile beach but I think previously we did Coral beach and liked it better, plus closer to port. Aruba we were given a free bus tour excursion was way too long, we hated it! by the end everyone was miserable. I would go to beach if you are beach people or do shopping bonaire we did golf carts from Bonaire cruisers. Did south side. We enjoyed it and went to Sorobon beach for lunch and some beach time. We loved it. Sandy beach, but you could stop in many places along the road and go for a swim. curaçao we did mambo beach which we liked but went super early and left at noon just as bunch of packed buses arrived. all in all a great cruise!
  10. We are just off the Equinox the menus posted are the same we had. The food was pretty good, it was served hot, my husband is a vegetarian and felt for the most part his food wasn’t as good as previous cruises. Items were either Indian and too spicy for him or were mushroom based. Some of the soups were too salty for him. He ate a lot of mushrooms! Overall the food was better than I expected considering comments I had read.
  11. Thanks we will look into it. we have virgin mobile so not sure what is included. We got the plan a couple years ago so can’t remember anything
  12. We did this itinerary 5 years ago on equinox and loved it so much we are doing it again in little over a week. We have done both carnival and Royal but enjoy celebrity so much more. DH refuses to sail Carnival again as he finds it too noisy. We are laid back, but there are things to do. It is definately not Carnival though and no skating rinks, bumper cars, wave riding etc. depends on what is more important. Sometimes itinerary is more important
  13. Thanks everyone. Yes we are Canadian but will try to get cell coverage for US. Normally I wouldn’t worry but this summer my sister in law who refuses to uses a computer was put on standby because she didn’t do online check in and waited until she got to airport. So just want to be proactive. It has been so long since we travelled that I am out of practice and stressing out more than normal.
  14. Just wondering if people without wifi package are able to check in for flights home on last day of cruise ( sea day) and if there are any options for printing boarding passes. Can’t justify the $500 celebrity wants us to pay for wifi package. Also does the celebrity app work if you don’t have wifi.

    Free shore excursion

Thank you for responding! Seems a shame to not go on a free excursion. We will see!
  16. Our online travel agent along withDistinctive voyages sent an email saying they have booked us a free shore excursion in Aruba called Aruba highlight with lunch. It includes aloe Vera factory, casibari rock formation, bbq lunch at an ostrich farm, alto vista chapel, and California lighthouse 5 hours bus trip. Has anyone done anything like this? Are these places worth visiting? I was planning to go to the beach and haven’t done a bus tour shore excursion in many years.
  17. We are going on a nov 21 cruise and would have loved to fly porter but they started a day too late for us. We ended up booking American from Toronto as that was the cheapest. We are flying to Miami even though our cruise is out of Fort Lauderdale because the prices to Fll were nuts. I get an alert frequently for a west jet flight to Fll and it is fluctuating between $2700 and $3000 for 2 people not including luggage and seat. Crazy!
  18. I tried to get insurance for our upcoming Nov cruise in early September and the US online cruise company I booked the cruise with were no longer able to sell their $85.99 US insurance to Canadians. She said she would contact Celebrity for a price for me and got a call back saying that Celebrity will no longer provide insurance to Canadians. She gave me a phone number for manulife. So it seems to be a trend. Manulife was ridiculous for just my husband they wanted $570. I ended up booking through the online cruise company with a different insurance provider that is Canadian with a Windsor On address but had to pay in US funds. Still pricey but much less than Manulife. My guess it has to do with the number of cancellations of Canadian airlines but that is just a guess.
  19. We tried to get insurance for our cruise through Celebrity and they would not cover us because we are Canadian. Also we booked a cruise through an online cruise agency and when I tried to book their $85 US insurance it directed me to a much more expensive option so I called the travel agency and was told that that company no longer covered Canadians.
