  1. We have booked a Tahiti cruise for 2024 on navigator. We really had wanted to do a Windstar Breeze for this destination, (mostly because of the water sports platform), but they only have the small sailboat in Tahiti as far as I can see, and after Regent we can’t consider that one. We have done Windsurf 2x, and loved it, even with the tiny, but cozy cabins, but it is bigger and has more to offer then the smaller sail ship.

Which left PG, which people rave about, though there seem to be issues lately, so when we spied navigator for this 10 night itinerary on the latest offer, we jumped on it.

Now wondering what some of you Regent experts think about this option for Tahiti?

Also, we will likely do 3 days on Moorea post cruise, so any helpful hints to do with that would be appreciated, as well.

Hope I’m not highjacking this thread.

We’re also on Vancouver Island and can completely appreciate the travel efforts to get to miami from here.  We’re booked for march 7 with splendor out of miami…knowing the chances and risks…but i gotta get off the Island…and some sun. 😉Feels like this has been an extra ordinary grey fall and winter.    In the spirit of the Regent experience, i hope you broke out a really nice red wine with your meatloaf 😎

Hope you have a wonderful cruise. Think things should be a bit easier by then restrictions wise, so hopefully you won’t have too many problems getting there, if it was just me, I might have taken the risks, but hubster really dislikes airports at the best of times, so for us it just wasn’t worth it, even if we lost our payment.

    The meatloaf was surprisingly good😊

  3. tripperva- being Canadian we were not able to get trip cancellation insurance. We were ready to lose all, but did contact TA, and ask if there was anything at all that could be done for us.

We had an alternate cruise picked out for the fall, but our TA, to our grateful amazement was able to get it transferred to our Dec. booked cruise.

Just another reason to search out a great TA! So glad we did, We have always done things without one in the past, but not anymore!

  4. Well, last night hubby came home from work and said “shall we go to the casino, or to the lounge for a drink”? To which I replied “what are you talking about , I’m in the middle of making meatloaf for dinner”.
Then I realized we were supposed to have been on the Splendor with you lovely people😩

Just couldn’t take the chance of a horrible time getting there from Vancouver Island, and ending up quarantined for our efforts.

So will be wistfully following and hoping you all have a wonderful time, and we will just have to wait till  Dec.

  5. Bill, so glad you started this discussion. Think I need it for my mental well being. Will be watching your cruise closely, and hoping you have a splendid time. With your attitude I am sure you will.
We are booked on the Feb 3 cruise, and my is this getting complicated. Due to flying from BC Canada it will be a miracle if we make it. I am expecting flights to be a major pain, and hubby will be right there with them Lol He may even decide it’s not worth it and cancel the trip even if we lose our cruise fare. Ouch!

However whatever happens, I am not going to let it upset me. Life is just too short- as we’re all finding out.

  6. After posting I realized I didn’t mention that on that cruise they had different themes for tea time, for instance one was chocolate, one was donuts, I think there was a crepe one, and the one I went to was called Vienna, and, I could be wrong but it seemed like there must have been 20 different cakes.

Is this theme idea standard on every cruise?

  7. From my one Regent cruise on Voyager 2019 I would say for myself that Tea time would absolutely work as a substitute for dinner.

There were little sandwiches, and such which I did not partake of, going directly to the scones and clotted cream, and then the cakes. I would love to skip dinner so I could sample 3 or 4 of those cakes. I had to limit myself to 2, as hubby doesn’t do tea, and would hate to miss dinner.

But for me once a cruise it would be splendid to do tea time and move on to cocktails with the provided small bites, and if one was hungry late there is always room service.

I must see how I can arrange this on our next cruise, maybe I can find him some friends he can go to dinner with.

The other thing I would like about this is it would make it easier to attend a show.

Such a good problem to have!

  8. Everything was wonderful on our first and only(so far) Regent cruise, but I have to say the chicken in Chartruese was to die for, along with the floating island for dessert, though there was some lemon raspberry dessert in Compass Rose that was a fave, too.

Then there was something like Osso  Bucco in Sette Mari that was very memorable. I tend to like food that takes a lot of effort and time to prepare(without me having to do it)😁

  9. Bill, seeing you post again I believe is a good sign. We switched our Mar 21  Rio to Barcelona to Dec. 22 Panama on Splendour, and then when the upgrade your suite promo came out we decided to book Feb 22 Carribean on Splendour as well.

We will be watching your cruise in Jan.with much excitement. Hopefully you will give us all a little play by play as you go about enjoying your long awaited cruise.

This, of course is dependent on these cruises actually going (fingers, toes, legs, and eyes crossing😝). Probably much more likely for you US citizens, but even if we are not supposed to travel still, it will be worth it to us to do it, and self isolate for two weeks when we return home.

  10. Ended up booking at Mr C hotel in Coconut grove. Looks like a lovely small boutique hotel.

Coconut grove looks like a nice laid back area, with good restaurants within walking distance, and some parks to explore. We really don't need the beach, though we could uber there for an evening if we feel like it. We did that from Coral gables the last time, and enjoyed that, but I somehow think we will just be happy relaxing at our hotel, and exploring Coconut grove.

I think we will try to do the little Havana culinary tour, though, with maybe a side trip from there to Wynnwood walls.

  11. Pcardad-that was what I was thinking, maybe what I was looking at on the TA site is meant for addons to land tours. At this point in time, I do not want to make extra work for my TA, if she won't be getting a benefit from it.

Thanks for all your input, for this one anyway (Miami hotels), I will book them myself.
