  1. I get seasick if I don't medicate, but honestly if you took me blindfolded into a room with the curtains closed, I could never tell you which direction the bed is facing. I always take meclizine.
  2. Yes, as far as I know. We've been on Jewel (Radiance class) twice in JS and all the JS I've seen are identical, except for which direction the room is (bed on left of right side). And by "seen" I mean the ones we've stayed in and the ones we've walked by when the door is open. Vision class is the same way.
  3. They usually do a set up on the pool deck on some sea days, but it's a scheduled event. I don't remember ever seeing them available for use just anytime. Not sure what you mean by "kiddie" ones. They appear to be regular cornhole boards.
  4. Moot point as Carnival has already announced they are departing from Norfolk and returning to Baltimore. Either they're getting a waiver (very likely) or they're absorbing the cost. Norfolk has it's own set of logistics and the city obviously knows that the ships are done using it. The port was reopened specifically for the emergency situation that existed. It's due to undergo renovations starting in June and reopen in Feb 2025.
  5. We're back on in Aug for a 5 night Bermuda cruise. Vision is getting out of drydock in just over a week so curious to see her. While the food is improved, we do not love some of the menus.
  6. Actually, they diverted to Cozumel and from what I understand he was medivaced to the US from there.
  7. Port of Baltimore posted yesterday that it was reopening in time for VIsion on the 25h.
  8. Yes, I just saw this posted on the Harmony FB page. We never sailed with him but I know plenty have and really liked him.
  9. Water gets topped off regularly. As for the bread, just working with what I see.
  10. Ocean City, MD. A motel room for 4 people. Even now, not anywhere near $450/night. Some people are missing the point by a long shot.
  11. I've been watching the live feed. Curiously there's a @smokeybandit posting lol.
  12. The official Port of Baltimore FB page is reporting that Vision will be the first cruise ship to depart from Baltimore on May 25.
  13. It gets ground up with other food and becomes fish food. At a certain distance off land they can eject organic matter. Would you rather eat bread that has been on a couple of other tables?
  14. When we were younger, we never stayed "on the beach". We stayed on the bay side which wasn't even half the price of being on the beach. And, then it more likely 3-4 nights and not 7. Going "to" the beach does not mean staying waterfront. Our generation also didn't vacation every year and definitely not more than once per year. Expectations have changed a lot. We had a TA friend (friend's parent) when we were younger so logistics weren't that difficult. All my friends growing up (I grew up in a very nice suburb) were lucky if they went anywhere outside of visiting family.
  15. My dad was a research chemist working for the Federal Gov when he and two others obtained their patent. While their name is on it, it belongs to the Federal Gov. It happens quite often.
  16. There are, but many b**ch about paying more. I see plenty of those complaining. Cruising isn't what it used to be at all. It's been "dumbed down" quite a bit. How many of current cruisers cruised as kids? And, how many kids cruise now? The expectations for vacations have changed a lot. When we were in our 20's and 30's and raising our kids a week at the beach was a big deal. Families now have expectations that previous generations didn't. I love when people complain about how they can't afford xyz with young kids. LOL. We were happy to have a townhouse and a weekend at the beach when ours kids were young. The entitlement is extreme.
  17. Yes, it's one cruise. One bottle per person 21 and older.
  18. Well, with prices on everything going up, people still want cruise prices to be low even though it's not realistic at all.
  19. I watched it live on local DC news. We shall see but apparently they started moving the bridge structure immediately after the demo.
  20. They've already hired someone to replace him. She is a former CD. Why do you think there are cutbacks? Misleading title. https://www.seatrade-cruise.com/people-opinions/christi-coachman-succeeds-nick-weir-royal-caribbean-entertainment-head?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR1_IHxCJiUTAIGWA2uyERk-cY6tWU7q9JwtrgYdNjfhKD6j7aLvIcgbXiQ_aem_AS0EgrkIwgpn9fDcBNgIuVNyws14JakfF18heb1CXswMo-0C9pNjBXO-zgEcWVgrvHyTeS-1FiFI7hNVe0rKf0m8
  21. Well, that's debatable. He knows he tells horrendous jokes.
  22. He was on Vision in April and when we talked to him he said he was coming back to Vision and would be there for our Aug 17 cruise. When he'd ask for requests, someone would mention a song he didn't know or do which I find strange. Most will do anything. Someone tried to get him to play "a bottle of red" LOL. I was cracking up and told him to play "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant" but he said he had to learn it. I told him he needed to know it in Aug.
  23. Yes, if you pay attention you will see what they do with uneaten bread. It is thrown out when they clear tables. Tearing each piece is a weird thing to do.
  24. Most places we eat at wipe menus off after each customer. The fact is, while these are significant sources, most healthy people won't get sick. There's usually not enough of the microorganisms on things to infect someone, but it can happen on occasion. Poor food handling is a bigger issue overall and the cruise lines have that down. We've caught a few colds over the years and at least one time someone admitted several days into the cruise that they had a cold when they boarded and they had shook my DH's hand at dinner the first night. And, my DH caught a cold about 3 days in.
  25. And, this I never get. I don't even lick my fingers in my own home when I'm alone. When people serve cake and do this between slices, I refuse a piece. It's amazing how many people think they can't make others sick and that it's rude of anyone to think so.
