  1. Hi

I believe it can be done but, just to make sure......

On the NCL Bliss, deck 14 aft balcony cabins, can you have the partition between the balconies opened up? There are 3 couplse traveling and would like to open them up to create 1 long balcony. We just did it on Princess and, we've also had it done on an NCL cruise to Alaska (with 6 cabins!).

    TIA
    Tracy

  2. We got the "speciality dining" as part of our package but have questions:

    1) How do you pre-book speciality dining? Call, online, app.....?

    2) How far in advance can we pre-book?

    3) Is the "dining service charge" price listed on our package just a price to get into the restaurant, and we won't need to worry about any more payment? Or, will we need to pay more once at the restaurant? (I'm assuming it's the latter...)

    Thanks!

So I am driving in for my December 17th cruise on the Bliss, booked the doubletree king with balancing and bay view. It includes parking for 8 days and I believe it was 450 total

We will be on the Dec 31st sailing on the Bliss 🙂  Exactly which Doubletree is it that you are referring to? Thanks for the help!

  4. Hi there!

We will be cruising from Miami at the end of this December and wondered.....

What's the best hotel to stay at? Looking at under $300/night if possible. 6 Adults.

Are there ANY close enough to the port within that budget?  Thanks!

I've cruised both lines a few times and have been on Regal and a ship similar to Bliss (Escape).  To be honest, it's 50/50 for me and I think you have a tough decision.

What I love about NCL's newer ships is the entertainment, which I think is second only to Royal Caribbean.  I also love all the specialty dining choices, especially the ones with the outdoor seating.  Plus, I felt like a kid again on the slides.  I found those to be really fun.

What I don't love about NCL is the free dining, which I think is the worst in the business, and how crowded those new ships are. It feels like utter chaos in the public spaces.  I also hate the pool setup.  It's way too crowded.

What I loved about Regal was the better free dining and the fact it didn't feel nearly as crowded as NCL.  Overall, it's a nicer and more refined experience.  The adult pool was way better than on NCL.  The buffet was the most amazing buffet I've ever seen on a ship.

What I hated about Regal was the fact there were no interior lounges that look out to sea.  The only space with outward views was the buffet.

The majority of balconies on both ships were a joke.

So I guess if I was looking to have a fun cruise, I'd book Bliss.  If I was looking for a more relaxed experience, I'd pick Regal.  Hope this helps.  🙂

Wow! Thank you for your thoughts!! Sounds like it really is 50/50 and we have some thinking you do 😊

  6. Is there a list of what is included and what is not included on NCL Bliss for food/restaurants? Also, how hard is it to get into the shows? Can you reserve seats before you board or is that something done once on board? And, can you book specialty dining prior to boarding?

  7. Thinking of sailing on the Bliss over NYE and wondering if they have an adult only area on the ship with cabanas to rent? There will be 6 of us so maybe they are big enough for all 6 (so we could split the cost)? Also, if they do, can it be a day by day cost or would we have to rent for the entire cruise (we only have 2 at sea days)

  8. Hi

I need help! We (4 adults) have 2 NYE 2022 bookings on hold right now; Regal Princess and NCL Bliss.

The prices between the 2 are minimal and have pretty much the same perks (beverage pkg, WiFi, specialty dining....)

We are having a hard time trying to decide which one to keep (need to know by Feb 5th) so I would love opiions on them but especially opinions from those that have been on both. Pros and cons 🙂

    Thanks!

I had heard that Grand Turk and the TCI are closed at present time.  Some ports are closed if the cruise ship has a number of COVID cases aboard and the ship forced to make it a sea day.  Some ports only allow sanctioned tours and do not allow pax to go beyond the port area.  Things are changing daily with regards to COVID and most recently the omicron variant.

I'd rather they just cancel the darn cruise already then! Instead of making all the passengers wonder and then, possibly, not be able to even get off the ship.

Assuming you are Regal for the New Years cruise, you are one of five scheduled for San Juan on Jan 3.  You and Rotterdam at Grand Turk. We’re they cancelling the port, or the excursions?   EM

Just the excursion, as far as I can tell

  11. What in the actual heck?!

2 of the excursions I booked just last week have been canceled 😕 One was in San Juan and the other was in Grand Turk. I received an email about the San Juan cancellation but haven't for the Grand Turk yet. I only know it's cancelled because it's not on my cruise itinerary anymore and not even offered on the cruise site.

Unfortunately it's too late to cancel the cruise but it looks like we'll either be staying on the ship the entire time, or going out and exploring on our own 🙄

I'm hopeful the OP will find a solution that works for them.

I did, thank you! We opted for the at home test kits 🙂 Hopefully we will use them correctly!

It goes by length of cruise, not number of sea days. Our 1 week cruise had 3 sea days with the standard 2 formal nights.

    Onboard FAQ: Dining & Nightlife

Experience a variety of dining options and nightlife on board a Princess cruise.

We want to make it as easy as possible for you to know what to pack and what to wear when you’re dining onboard. See below for an example of formal night schedules based on the length of your cruise.

Length of Cruise Number of Formal Evenings
    1 - 4 Days 0
    5 - 6 Days 1
    7 - 13 Days 2
    14 - 20 Days 3
    21 - 28 Days 4
    29+ Days 5 Minimum

THANK YOU for this!! I mean, WHY don't the Princess people just tell me this??

  14. It's a little confusing because, like you said, I would assume no formal on last night

They will not hold Formal Dinners on the last night before the end of a cruise because they know that you are suppose to have your luggage packed and in the hall before dinner.

BUT, then there's this on our itinerary:

"Your itinerary includes 2 formal nights and 6 smart casual nights. Formal nights tend to occur on sea days" and we have 3 sea days

  15. Ok, I've cruised many times and always know the at sea days are the formal night dinners. My confusion is coming in this.....

We have 3 at sea days (one of them being our last day) so one would assume we have 3 formal nights, right? I've asked a few different Princess people (both on chat and via phone) that all say we only have 2 formal nights (but to check the Princess Patter onboard) 🤷‍♀️

Soooooooo, do we pack for 2 formal nights or 3?

@CruisingLoverGreen Lane is for those who have completed all final steps. Most steps can be done weeks ahead of time. Most but not all. You have another step to do so you're in the Blue Lane.  Nothing to be concerned about. Happened to flip back & forth for me until I did that 24 hr before embarkation health check.

In other words: apps not glitchy. It just wants to know you didn't get sick (aka Covid or Flu) in the 2 weeks before boarding.

It's just strange because my sisters travelling with me have the EXACT same info filled out and yet, they are in the green lane (and obviously have not completed the health check as we don't cruise until Dec 29). I just wish is was consistant but, I also wish I had a millon dollars and we all know neither of those will not be happening any time soon 😂
