  1. I am an overplanner also. We are going on the Allure on 4.21.19, coming up shortly. I normally travel with my sister or my family. This time is part of my bucket list with my sister. We live in Cincinnati Ohio and both are retired. We have a Boardwalk balcony and can't wait.
  2. Update: We went on Carnival Conquest with our son. There were 4 of us in the room..... twin bed, rented hospital bed, sofa and overhead bunk. We had plenty of space in our room. The room was larger than RCCL and about the same size as Disney. We had the room at the front of the ship on deck 4 overlooking the secret deck. Loved it. Yes he could access the secret deck. There was a lip going thru the door to the deck but his wheelchair went over it. We placed his bed sideways in front of the window so he had a perfect view while in bed. Next cruise we are going to go without renting the hospital bed. Mattresses are nicer on the cruise ships that I think my son can handle it with a wedge.
  3. I take two pairs of crocs Patricia sandals, black and navy and wear with everything. They look great with formal wear. Most people don't even realize they are crocs because they go so well with my dresses but at the end of the day I will never see anyone after I get off the ship so it is all about comfort.
  4. I, too, like to be organized. Take casual tops and nice tops for both day and night, using capris and pants interchanging. I use an excel spreadsheet on my computer, The first column is the date, day and itinerary port or sea day, so I know how to dress. If my outfits are packed on paper, it makes packing a breeze. As I pack, I highlight. Once they are all highlighted, I am packed and ready to go. I take an unhighlighted version with me on the cruise to tape on the inside of the closet door. I know what I am wearing every day. I do switch the night wear around since I do not know when the formal nights are. Shoes are very minimal, mostly comfort shoes. Magnets, especially ones with clips for holding the days schedule on the wall. I do take my own shampoo and soap, but these are also supplied in the showers. No need to pack a hair dryer. I pack windbreaker, sweater, posted notes, pen, highlighter, safety pins, rubberbands, first aid kit, flashlight, battery operated candles, tape, suntan lotion, bug lotion, anti-bact hand lotion, good book, passport. copy of ship docs and port emails or excursions. So much easier this way...no last minute stressing.
  5. Our family has used this tour group twice and had a wonderful tours. We had Ray both times. Will be taking another tour with them.
  6. We liked Bubba's both times going out of port.
  7. We do not even drink alcohol and this package was great. Granted the package came free as a perk. We were spoiled on specialty coffees, teas, frozen drinks (non alcohol) and even soda pop! Loved it! Just wish all cruise lines offered this.
  8. Thanks for sharing this link. I enjoyed your photographs of the areas we will be visiting next year on the Infinity. Very beautiful pictures and wonderful review.
  9. What happened to all the passengers in wheelchairs? Were they rescued? When I heard about 2 elderly men dying, I wondered if they were in wheelchairs. I remember our last cruise with our son, in a wheelchair, dureng the muster drill the staff didn't know where he should go. I had to find out and have our own plan. I am getting ready next month to cruise again. I have never been on Costa, don't think I will try now. We took the Med cruise in 2010 on Princess. We were cruising by the area in daylight. My prayers are with them all!
  10. We didn't use Serenity but used Accessible Tours and were very pleased.
  11. We toured Istanbul and Ephesus with City of Sultran Tours. Our guides were excellent. Ephesus was a awesome experience.
  12. We used Fabrizio's tour company- AllAroundItaly. Fabrizio, Alberto and Andrea were the best. Our experience was a lifetime experience that we will always treasure. They enriched our vacation with their knowledge and all around courtesy to everyone in our group of 6. We toured with them in Pisa-Florence, Rome, Naples-Pompeii-Amalfi coast. Andrea took us to a little restaurant perched on a hillside overlooking the scenic views of the city and amalfi coast. What a view and a great culinary experience with Luigi to boot! We would recommend AllAroundItaly highly and would use them again.
