  1. If the last four months is any indication there is a good chance you will see 30% off and a possibility you will see 35% off. Off of what is a key part of the equation.  My 35% off got me it at 70$ a day. With gratuity I am am $82.5/day all in.

I have seen the 30% pop up pretty regularly but the 35% only once so far. It definitely varies by ship and your specific cruise.

I also won’t like it when they no longer allow the drink package. Just my opinion but that is coming.

When exactly is that going to be?  Do you know something the rest of us don't?

I would think I know something the rest of you don't. What type of computer am I using, where did I go to college, what number am I thinking of...?

As far as the drink package not being allowed at private islands by RCL, I don't know anything the rest of you don't.

Royal has shown all additional forms of revenue are up for consideration. Many cruise lines do not honor the drink package on their private islands. It is my opinion Royal will do the same and not honor the drink package at their private islands in the near future. That is just my opinion, guess or prediction.

They developed these private islands so they get all or most of the revenue from their port stops.

    I hope I am wrong.

Allowed gaming the system is still gaming the system. If you book a guarantee, keep it. Don't make someone who books later and pays full price take that connecting cabin

It is Royal’s system and their system dictates when buying a guarantee it is for a category of stateroom. The system allows you to change specific rooms in that category. No gaming involved.

Not sure what you don’t understand or why you have a problem with the system Royal has decided they want to use.

I said I will be watching for earnings. I dont have any idea how it will react. I do predict good earnings. All these little extras, the  new adult area at coco cay, now collecting final payment earlier on longer cruises. I think the bean counters are pushing things for all they can.

If I get a nice pop I might sell, otherwise I'm holding. I think high prices will eventually push it higher. At this price I feel ok holding. I watch all the earnings I can.

Nvda so much hype, grew earnings 88% qtr over qtr and is still in the same range, has to grow into its pe some more? Doesnt mean earnings werent huge.

Pltr was a $5 stock earlier this year and got hyped like crazy as a AI stock. To the moon. I have some at $7. It is just recently profitable. Said 4 cents profit, did 4 cents, sold off. Nothing extra and people wanted more. Back to $15 but moving again, just got a army contract 2 days ago. At $7 I can wait.

I could go on how stocks didnt react as people predicted. Maybe for me that's the fun. Find something with solid earnings at a good price. I will be watching earnings for rcl. .. and others. I usually just hold and watch. I am not predicting any reaction from rcl. I know what it's been doing though. I'm fine holding too. Earnings throw charts out the window, always a free for all. Ya never know.

Sorry, I must have misunderstood. It sure sounded like your post from 9/1 indicated you expected the stock to react the same way this earnings as it had last earnings. That would be a stock reacting the same way twice.

I'm hoping for a  break below 96 to buy my shares back but before next earnings. Ido expect another pop next earnings.

  5. I like coco cay a lot. A beach is a beach and this one is easy walking distance, has amenities or areas with just a chair, drink package and food included. A cheap, easy access beach that doesn’t cost extra is pretty cool once you’ve been to all the islands.

Having said that I do not like to go in the winter. The water will be cold and the air can be cold. I also won’t like it when they no longer allow the drink package. Just my opinion but that is coming.

  6. I remember him. He posted picture intensive reviews before that was a common occurrence. I enjoyed them.

I always found it very concerning that he would eat that way and smoke when he had so many health issues, was advancing in age and was such a big guy. I guess he was happy with his quality of life and it was his life to do what he wanted. RIP.

No. When paying for specialty restaurants most people think they should eat it all.

I believe you but I don't get it. You are paying for the food in the MDR, WJ, Solarium....Why would you eat just to finish the plate, especially on a cruise.

You can always get more food later somewhere else rather than feeling like you are going to bust. Whatever floats your boat is cool with me but I don't get it.

These numbers come from the 2022 Proxy Statement Amazon filed with the Federal Government and shared with it’s shareholders.

You are so wrong. Jassy has a comp package like an nfl player. Front loaded, guaranteed money. $200mil for 10 years. With his chump change salary of $1.3, his package is over $21mil a year for the next 10 years.

this is a more accurate portrayal of his comp package:

In 2021 Jassy received a stock grant valued at more than $200 million tied to his promotion to CEO, with the shares vesting over 10 years. “This award is designed to establish a long-term owner’s perspective and encourage bold, long-term initiatives, in the same manner that Mr. Bezos’s shares as founder incentivized him to focus on long-term, expansive growth, and is intended to represent most of Mr. Jassy’s compensation for the coming years,” Amazon’s board wrote in the new proxy

  9. 4 hours ago, grandgeezer said:

100% correct. If you don’t believe it, Google it. Did you  know, the President and founder of Amazon is Jeff Bezos. The previous year the CEO got $200 million in stock options but that wasn’t part of the original post.

You pick one specific year of compensation that fits whatever point you think you’re making. That doesn’t tell any useful story. Look at total average comp  over 10 years. That will give you more than an anecdotal example.

No CEO of a Fortune 500 company is going to work for 1.5 million every year unless they already have taken a billion dollars of stock in comp already.

Steve Jobs may have taken $1 in salary in one year but over the course of 10 years he received billions in comp.

This is almost too easy, executives get paid per employee?

For example, Amazon’s President, total compensation was $1.6 million, and its CEO made $1.3 million total compensation for 2022. With me so far? Amazon’s worldwide employee number was 1,541,000 (yes, million). No matter how hard I try, I can’t get it come to $100 per employee for either one.

You sure those numbers are total compensation and not just salary? Sounds very low for a CEO of a multi billion dollar company.

  11. After reading this topic it seems like NCL has their standards exactly inline with their customers expectations.

If you have disgusting items on the bottom of your foot after walking in your cabin, obviously blame the foot. Cabin not ready until 4:30 (and even then not really ready)? Has to be the problem of the completely unreasonable passenger.

With the blind loyalty NCL passengers have I can’t believe they are not the largest, most profitable and well reviewed mass market cruise line in the industry.

Casino comps are a very profitable way to fill empty cabins-- because they only issue them to gamblers who have a general track record of losing enough money in the casino.  It's a fluke that they hand out a comp room to someone that just drops $20 in the casino.

This shows you have no idea what you are talking about. A casino does not look at how much you lost when giving out a comp, the house advantage takes care of this. A casino looks at how much you gamble and what you are gambling on. From there they know how much you will lose over time.

The odds spread out over all the gamblers takes care of the profit.

I agree with all of this. Sometimes you can luck out and find a nice dealer, but it is rare on cruiseships. And most passengers playing blackjack on a cruiseship are HOSTILE to new players. They expect you to play perfectly because your actions will affect their bottom line...and let's be real, most new players are not sitting at the HL table, the players can relax a little.

I actually like playing Roulette or 3 card poker because the atmosphere is just a little bit lighter.

Your actions do not affect their bottom line. A 'wrong" move by a player will help you as many times as hurt you.
