  1. I'm asking this question under this post because there are several among us that would like to know how you choose a post to be a "Sticky"??

This particular post has helped several CCers in choosing an obstructed view cabin on Princess ships. Personally, when I look at some available cabins on the Princess website and then see them on this post I know not to book them! Some views are much better than others and Theo has done a great job in providing us the information.

What does it take to become a famous "Sticky"??

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I used your website to pick my obstructed cabin on the Emerald (E701) for our next year's cruise. E701 used to be category F and now an OY category in the new cabin system. I get an obstructed cabin for the price of oceanview. All the other obstructed cabins that Princess was offering had some kind of obstruction. I marked it no upgrade since we are low on the categories, they might move us to an obstructed cabin.

Your cabin selection is a great one!! Theo is doing a great service to all the CCs who want to see what obstructive views are like! Some are much better than others.

We are so glad that Theo "retired" and took on this "job":D Thanks again Theo:)

  3. There is a post on RCI which has all the Captains. The man who did it put a lot of work and effort into it. I'm not familiar with the Captains but hopefully someone will undertake the project. Would be very helpful and appreciated by many.

  4. I can honestly say this is one post where I read it all the way through (cruise part). Thank you for all the great pics (now I'm hungry) and your great review. I was really interested in Grand Turk one place we haven't gone. I would love to do the Ruby Princess in Nov. and after reading your post I think I'm convinced.

Thanks again!! You did a great job.:)

  5. Theo: I would like to say thank you for sharing all of the pictures with us! We have been in obstructed view cabins before and had semi-great views. We would book obst.ocean view again and before we do we will go to your site to see the "views". Enjoy retirement, husband always says "Best job he ever had!"

    Thanks again.

  6. sorry- i do not- I even did a search on various stuff for that cabin and nothing is on the net- well lots of hits of people asking the question about obstucted view etc. but sadly no pics.

Thanks so very much for your help. I know its obstructed and I think the front of the lifeboat is showing a little. Just so we get some light we don't spend that much time in the cabin. Thanks again.

  7. There is no obstruction in front of E702, although there may be some when you look sideway. Grab this while you can!

Thanks for all your replies!! We booked both 701 & 702.

Pam: Thanks for the picture. Going on the Emerald in March.

  8. Anyone stayed in this cabin on the Emerald Princess?? I'm wondering what is in front of the window?? Others on this deck have lifeboats but does anyone know what this could have??

    Thanks for your help.

  9. Hi Carol........first of all when you booked your NC in October of 2007 it is good forever not until 10/2010.......it has NO expiration date. It is good until you decide on what cruise you want to book.

OK, so you changed your NC into a specific cruise to Alaska for 2009. Did you check out custom air through RCI? Sometimes the airfare allowance through the cruise lines is cheaper. Just a thought.

As long as you keep the same booking number you can move it to another itinerary/sailing date/ship and not lose your OBC. When you changed your NC booking to the Alaska sailing your initial NC deposit of $200 should have been deduced from the full deposit required for that cruise.......and that should be noted on your invoice.

Patti: The paper I received when I did the next cruise states under traveling with booking numbers :

This booking is applicable up to three years from the booking date listed at the top of this confirmation.

Since we have a booking number and a cruise booked we would have to cancel that cruise and book another and have up to 3 years to do it correct which would be 2010.

My TA hasn't given us an invoice because we are waiting for airfares. I checked on RCI (all the steps of booking cruise on line) the air was $1698 for both which the airlines were cheaper at this point in time.

We are still looking into another cruise using the same booking number. I hope I'm not sounding dense here.

    Thanks for your help.

  10. While on our cruise last Oct. we did the next cruise. We put $200 down and have until 10/2010 to go on a cruise. Well we saw an Alaskan cruise in 9/09 that we liked so we booked. We put $900 down and have a cabin etc. NOW the airfares are out of sight! This would have been one way to San Francisco and back from Vancouver. Pricing the airfares now are any where from $511-$700plus. We are rethinking this cruise. As I understand we can "move" this booking number around before 10/10 as long as we don't cancel anything. Is this correct??? Also do they deduct $900 and the $200 on final payment???

I don't think we would do a next cruise again only because our TA usually has groups and we get obc that way.

    Thanks for your help.
