  1. I will never forget when my cousin and her husband joined us for their very first cruise. When they looked at the MDR menu they both said there is nothing that we like here!! I almost hid under the table. I can't remember what they ate that night. The head waiter came over and told them that the menu is posted everyday outside the dining room. He told them to look it over and if there wasn't anything they liked to come see him and he would make sure they had something of their choice!! However, every night at 10pm they went and made sure they had their pizza at the place where they were making it. We still talk about it to this day. Fussy eaters you bet!!! Enjoyed the cruise without a doubt. Have to love families.

  2. We have had ocean views on the Jewel on deck 3. When we book we choose the middle of the ship. On the lower decks you don't feel the motion as you would on the higher decks. We never had a noise issue. We like that the dining rooms are on decks 4 &5 and if the elevators are busy you can walk the stairs.

We had friends who were on deck 2 and didn't find any issues there. However, I prefer deck 3. Good luck choosing I think you would like the Jewel!!

  3. I was doing the search for airfares for Aug. to San Juan!!! I was really getting upset with the prices. I kept watching Southwest and finally got a decent airfare. $414 per person round trip, not too shabby. Hopefully you'll be lucky to find an airfare that is decent. Good luck!

  4. I had to cancel a cruise with a non-refundable deposit, but our TA was able to move the deposit to another cruise. My understanding is that you can't get a cash refund of the deposit, but sometimes a good, high-volume TA can reuse the deposit on another cruise.

Thanks for this info. I just did a chat with Princess and was told that I would have to ask my TA if I wanted to transfer my deposit to another cruise. I booked with a great promo, $100 pp deposit, specialty dining meal, and free gratuities. I hate to give all of that up. I can't remember if they had a non-refundable deposit.

  5. I'm jealous of that.

I've been monitoring 3 cruises...all have increased in price. One increased a little more than $100, another almost $200, and the third almost $300.

So what do you do?? Keep looking until another sale comes along?? Also if you don't mind where is Bristol, PA?? Just curious never heard of Bristol!

  6. As the poster mentioned beware of the monkey men! When we were in St. Kitts a few years ago a man approached my DH with a little monkey. He gave it to my husband and took a picture, NOW came the surprise, he charged him $10 for the picture!!! What a rip off, but hey on vacation so what did it matter?? Just beware of the cute little monkey in his diaper!!

    Have a good day.

  7. I've been watching the Serenade for March, 2017, since yesterday the ocean view final price went up $108. Here is how they say the "deals" are for sailing 2/13--$1271, 3/6--$1244 they are the deals. However for 3/27 its $1183 so why not post that as a "deal"?

So glad I'm a cruise critic member!! Members here give out great info re: sales, deals etc. I'll keep searching for that March price, maybe the next "deal" will be the ONE.

    Have a great day!!!

  8. Thanks for the responses. We had to cancel a cruise before when my DH fractured his hip and needed surgery. We were refunded the full amount of the cruise at that time. We aren't going to cancel our upcoming Aug. cruise. We did receive some unexpected news on a relative and I was just wondering a "what if", however, if need be to cancel it would come under the insurance.

    Thanks again,

    Carol

  9. Nothing ticks me off more than reading reviews from people who do nothing but complain! I was on this ship for the April 30th sailing and it was, as I mentioned in my review, the best cruise I have been on to date! I read so many poor reviews of this ship before I left that I was almost convinced that the cruise was going to be horrible. But what I found was the most amazing staff, from the room attendants to the bartenders, and the most amazing service in the Main Dining Room by Aila and her assistant. I had breakfast in the MDR every morning and ordered off the menu. My breakfast was exceptional every day, with the eggs being cooked perfectly and delivered hot and fresh. The reason for eating breakfast in the MDR was because I don't particularly care for buffet dining, so I don't understand why someone would go to the MDR and choose to eat off the buffet. Anyone reading this guy's review, please take it with a grain of salt. Some people wouldn't be satisfied if you bowed down and kissed their feet! Oh, and in my opinion, the reason for a vacation is relaxation and enjoyment. Time to unplug and have fun! So put the electronics down and try to enjoy your cruise mates instead of having your cell phone as your companion and complaining about how slow the internet is! There's more to life than Wi-Fi!!

AMEN!!!!!!! Maybe in this posters case "There is no place like home".

  10. I called RCCL customer service and asked this question! If we were to cancel our Aug. cruise how much would we lose? The answer given to me was this: We would lose our deposit and we would get 75% of our money for a future cruise. This doesn't seem right to me. If you have insurance why would you not get the full payment?? We have RCCL insurance.

    Thanks,

    Carol

  11. I know that I'm sounding like I'm mixed up to put it mildly!! Has anyone out there booked a cruise, did final payment, then saw another cruise they would rather do??? We have one for Aug. but I saw one for Jan. that I'd rather go on. We have insurance but it wouldn't be a medical issue. Just wondering what my options are at this point. I'm going to contact my TA also.

    Thanks for help and suggestions.

  12. LOL! Your dry sense of humor slays me. :D

We cancelled due to my illness a few years ago, and got back every single cent.

OP why do you ask? If you have insurance, you should be good to go ahead and start the claim.

I was just wondering if anyone did cancel after final payment. We did 2 yrs. ago when my DH had an emergency hip replacement! Seeing from the other posters emergency situations happen. We always purchase the insurance. We used it several times on board in different situations. We aren't canceling our cruise.

    Thanks for all the responses.

  13. We booked on Southwest for an Aug. cruise. If we cancel the cruise can I rebook on Southwest for a November cruise?? The price came down once so we have a $40 credit for each of us. The Aug. flights were to San Juan, November to FLL. Anyone ever do this before???

    Thanks,

    Carol

  14. The cruise line no longer sells internet by the minute. The least you can purchase is one 24-hour period. Last I saw, that was around $20. However, if you buy more than one day, the price per day does go down. I've seen it around $13 per day, when not on sale. If you purchase pre-cruise, it can be as low as $10 per day.

Bob you are so informative thank you:) I'll have to talk to our son and his wife to see if they are bringing a "device" (life use to be so simple). Do you know if Diamond discount would apply to this 30%?? I'm really confused(can you tell?)

    Thanks,

    Carol

  15. Onboard Adventure right now...the pre-purchase internet offer you're seeing is the best price....regardless of C&A level !!! I've spoken to guest services, concierge and loyalty ambassador...So glad I pre-purchased my Surf one device option at $63.63 for my week cruise. I also pre-purchased for my 2nd week (B2B) and could have cancelled once onboard if I would have found this to be cheaper once onboard...it wasn't.

I don't have any devices I just want to be able to use the internet daily to keep in touch with our family. Would you be able to find out the cost for Diamond members with just plain internet minutes?? We will be on the Adventurer in August. Thanks for you help (if you can).
