  1. This question may have been asked before if it was forgive me for asking again. We were on a cruise in April '15 to Hawaii and we purchased a coffee card. I have 4 unused spaces. We are going on the Royal Princess in November and I was wondering may I use the unused portion of the card? I intend to purchase another card once on board.

Thank you and have a good day.

  2. Paulo is a personal friend and is now back home in Portugal enjoying a time away from the ship.. Did he do his "Cat" impression for you?

YES he did!!!! If you contact him please tell him the people from Pittsburgh, PA said "WOW"!! What a great guy. Do you know if he'll be going back to the Star? We are booked on the Royal for Nov. 2016 it would be great if he were there. Thanks for your post.

  3. Pam: We were on the Star in April to Hawaii. We loved the crew especially a young man in the dining room named Paulo!! He is a head waiter and has a personality that made our dining experience great!! If you get a chance meet him and just say "WOW" (it is his trademark), tell him that people from Pittsburgh, PA think of him often. He was in Portofino dining room. A great young man who really loves his position. Hope you get to meet him.

Enjoy your cruise and congratulations on "50".

  4. If someone books during a "sale" and wants to switch their cabin would they lose their "sale perks"?? The cruise is a year out. I realize there may be other sales. Would one have to cancel then rebook? If the price would change would it be worth it to go through all of the above??

    Thanks,

    Carol

  5. We have booked obstructive ocean view cabins several times. If you go to the website Pam suggested you will be able to see what the obstructed view looks like. As the other poster said if you have 3 adults in the cabin it'll be tight, kids would be okay. Good luck and enjoy your cruise.

  6. Thank you for letting me know. It's really not going to make a difference in our cruise, we just enjoy being on a ship :)

The Captain on now is Capt. Espen Been. He started rotation on 4/10/15, I think they are on for 10 weeks. The other Capt. is Trond Holm. There is a post listing all the Captains for RCCL that is where I found the information. Enjoy your cruise. We like the Grandeur too.

  7. I think I can speak from experience. On our Hawaii cruise I got dehydrated and ended up in the medical center for 2 1/2 hrs. SO now I use Bonine and I start 2 days before my trip(pharmacist recommended) and it works for me. We were on a Can/NE cruise and encountered Hurricane Sandy!! I did not get seasick thank goodness!! I guess you have to try and see what works for you.

  8. I hope someone can help!! I'm having trouble with flight info on our cruise personalizer. I'm thinking its due to flying in the day before the cruise. We purchased Princess transfers. We will be sailing on 4/29 out of San Francisco, staying overnight on 4/28. The place we are staying will transfer us to the port where we will meet the Princess rep.

Can anyone explain why the cruise personalizer isn't taking this info? Thanks in advance.

  9. Theo:

Thank you for all the work that you have done and still do. When we were thinking of booking the Star Princess going to Hawaii I checked out the obstructed cabins. We booked on the Emerald deck, thanks to you we found great cabins!! Thanks again.

  10. If you go to google and put in princess site by renmar you will find the obstructed cabins on Princess. You also can try to find the posts on Princess cruise critic. When thinking of booking a cruise I check first with this site. Every ship is different, although some sister ships have the same layout of cabins. We have booked obstructed and found them not to be so bad. As long as you aren't looking at stairs. Your really not in your cabin that long so its worth the $$ you save.

Good luck with finding the site. Just scroll through Princess posts lots of posts trying to find a good obstructed cabin. This person went through a lot of time to do this for Princess cruisers.

  11. Thanks to all of you that responded to my post. An update on DH. He is in the hospital awaiting hip surgery scheduled for Wed. He had been in terrible pain for the last week that is the reason we cancelled the cruise. We never thought that he had a hip fracture!! After suffering for that length of time we went to the ER yesterday morning.

We have insurance and our TA said he will help with the paperwork. Our Doctor will write a letter stating all the information.

    Thanks again.

  12. I'm wondering if any of you ever had to cancel your cruise and if so how close were you to sail date. We were to sail 9/11/14 and my husband had his hip "act up". By that I mean he is in such discomfort he cannot stand or walk for long periods of time. He is walking with a cane and afraid of falling. He is a young 74 but still 74!! After much thought he decided it best to cancel our cruise. We booked this cruise through our travel agent and he has a group going. We purchased the RCI insurance and hopefully they will compensate us in some manner.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?? And if you had insurance what compensation did you receive??

Thank you for your reply. I'm certain hip replacement is in the very near future.

  13. We were in cabin 4042 Enchantment out of Baltimore 3/9-18th and had trouble with toilet flushing. It had a mind of its own!! Other cabins on the same deck also had flushing problems. Sometimes it did and sometimes delayed!! Also sewage smell in public areas of the ship!! Not so nice:( Hope the Grandeur doesn't have any problems. It is one of our favorite ships.
