I just got off the Grandeur today. During the Q&A, the dry dock question was asked and the answer was that it is mostly cosmetic and mechanical. Carpets are getting redone, the hull is getting its repair. Scrubbers are being installed. Floors are being redone. No actual "upgrades", but I heard that they also maybe dismantling the mechanisms for the aerial shows for the Centrum. There was no aerial show on the Grandeur on this cruise and there probably won't be any future ones.
:o
Did they give an explanation as to WHY they are doing away with the Aerial Show? I thoroughly enjoyed the show the ONE time they did it over 18 months and 3 cruises.

Were doing a 9 day to Charleston, PC, Miami, Nassau and Coco Cay

We did this cruise last Oct. and it is fantastic.
Charleston is fabulous and great to walk around or check out the remains of the Fort.
All of the other ports we had been to previously and we always love Coco Cay.

We cruised the Grandeur at the end of Oct. and the CD was fantastic. Such an easy going guy and would talk to everyone.
Do you remember your CD, because something is off if it was Bobby?

What a great thread, thank you so much everyone.
DH and I are booked for a B2B next March before she moves to where ever she is going.

Ariel show has NOT happened in months. My DH and I sailed 3 times in 18 months and the show was performed 1 time that we saw.
The man playing the Piano in the Schooner bar has also changed and is not nearly as good as the previous man. Not much interaction with the audience at all. :(

Thank you for the detailed review. There are some great details and info here.

Thank you so much for the review. My DH and I are doing a B2B in March 2018 and it will be our first B2B and our 2nd time sailing out of San Juan.
I am so glad that I booked it, knowing that Adventure will be leaving San Juan next summer/fall. :(

355 Days until my B2B on Adventure of the Seas
580 Days until my Symphony of the Seas

Can these funds be used towards daily service charge?
I searched but couldn't find any info.
You mean Gratuities? Yes, you may.
-
Thanna86, do you mean feb 17 or feb 10?
If you disembark on feb 17, that would mean presidents weekend and the prices for hotels will be much higher!! aw well as the parks will be very crowded.
just something to consider!
which day on a friday, just cant be the 13, right??
They said JAN. not FEB.

Bit of a strange one. I am a poor sleeper and have heard that mattresses can be very hard on RCI ships. Is there a night time etiquette in public places on the ships? I would be prone to getting out of bed if very unsettled and going reading a book or similar in another room of the house. Would it be a big no no to go to the library or other public area in pjs during the night if unable to sleep?
Absolutely no PJ's on when running around, however, feel free to wander where you choose to if you are having a hard time sleeping. Go relax in the hot tub's, read in the Solarium etc.

484 Days until my DH and I board Adventure for our 1st B2B and it will also be our 1st cruise as Diamond.

Serenade of the Seas can someone can advise as to where you can get these in the morning?
Fresh squeezed Orange Juice is available every morning in the Windjammer and MDR for a price.

My DH and I had scheduled Pearl Island w/Lunch included for 10/27 and we received notification that it was cancelled due to damage from Hurricane Matthew.
:(
Just an FYI for anyone planning to do this excursion any time soon.

Someone on our Roll Call (Oct 16, Freedom) asked RCI, and they responded with Royal Caribbean International said,
" Hi, Richard. CocoCay sustained minor damages.
We'll be welcoming guests back on Saturday, October 15th."
Hopefully someone will post some Photo's after they start stopping from the 15th on.
My DH and I are scheduled to stop there on the 28th while on the Grandeur.
:)

Photos would be awesome, Thank you in advance.
We sail on the Grandeur the 22nd with a stop at Coco Cay on the 28th.
My DH and I are on that sailing.
It is a small world.

Does anyone know why Royal Caribbean no longer offers parasailing in Labadee? I'm sailing on the oasis inn December 2017 and they don't show out as being available for that date. You can search and find parasailing offs available in Labadee but not on muy date as I just stated. What gives? I know at one time it was offered for I booked it on a previous trip.
Thanks.
It is too far out to be listed on the website yet. RCI might still be doing the contracts for next year.

My third try but does anyone know departure time of Grandeur from Bayonne today? Thanks!

Looks to be tonight sometime.

Not my job to choose. Customer service shouldn't be viewed as a headache. They knew about this possible situation days before.

No actually they did not know days before since Matthew changed direction to head out to sea instead of looping around to hit Florida again.
EVERYONE who books a cruise during Hurricane season SHOULD know that unexpected itinerary changes happen due to storms. Your parents really should have stayed on and they would have been able to take advantage of the Future Cruise Credit.

We have been out twice now, very windy. took shelter behind the beach front building. Condo complex didn't take on to much damage. 3 or 4 cars hit by falling roof tiles. the rest is superficial. cell phone getting spotty service
Very glad to see you post and know that all is relatively well. I was beginning to wonder since you hadn't posted since this morning.

Following this as I would love to hear updates on those poor islands.

Sorry, just to be clear, nothing actually happened to you or anyone you knew personally?
No thank heavens, but with my sons being late getting back and us not knowing who had been robbed . . . hubby and I were wishing we had not let them off the ship in Jamaica.
I would NEVER downplay how dangerous Jamaica can be. I do not think any poster here has been over dramatic as kerryincork seems to think they have been.

I thought RCCL was training them though and the shows were going to reopen some time next year?
