Seriously some of you are being over dramatic. I've done a quick search and have found reports of cruise passengers being killed in road accidents (which can happen anywhere).

A few passengers who were reported missing, but turned up later either because they wanted to stay longer or lost track of time.

But I didn't find any stories about cruise passengers being murdered!

I'm not saying it's never happened, but it must be extremely rare , and there could be 20,000 passengers a day landing in Jamaica.

If young American women were being lured away from their tour group to be murdered I think it would be all over the news. I certainly haven't heard of such stories🤔

Let me tell you what happened when my DH, myself and our 2 DS's ages 19 and 17 were on a cruise 7 years ago that visited Jamaica.

My DH and myself stayed on the shop while our 2 DS's went on a RCCL Shore Excursion Rafting down a river.

We were waiting and waiting for our sons to get back and looking off the Balcony wondering why they were not back yet.

While we are waiting we heard about an ENTIRE tour group from a Cruise ship getting robbed by guys with MACHETE'S!!!!

It was a Carnival cruise ship tour group not RCCL, but you better believe I was extremely nervous waiting for my DS's to get get back.

NOW, tell me again about being OVER DRAMATIC!

They just announced more than 100 deaths in Haiti.:(

I feel just horrible for those people and the death toll is now up to 113.

Been busy at work, need to finish a few things before power goes. Hard to go anywhere with Bella. Could go to Ocala. I'm a board member at our complex. A couple of us are staying to get things up and running again post storm. Lots of neighbors are staying, I may be the youngest of the bunch. :eek:

It show $51 with the 20% discount for my cruise on the Freedom next September in Europe.

 

Does anyone know the last day you can buy the package on a 7 day cruise? This cruise only has one sea day at the end, so I would like to wait until day 5 if possible.

I believe there must be 4 days left on your cruise in order to buy the package.

How much damage was done to Labadee from Hurricane Matthew?

It is very doubtful anyone knows yet since the hurricane is still there.

I hope the damage is not too severe and the locals are all safe.

We are supposed to leave on Friday from Port Canaveral on Majesty.

 

I've been cruising for a long time, but have never encountered this situation!

Of course I do NOT have travel insurance, but we haven't invested all that much into this 3 night cruise, so we'll be ok.

 

But has anyone ever had a cruise canceled due to weather? Or would one imagine they would just delay the sail date? I'm trying to wrap my head around the possibilities :-)

Well, announced an hour ago, Port Canaveral will close at Noon tomorrow until Matthew passes by. Miami will be closing at 4 PM tomorrow until the Hurrican passes.

It looks like the next weeks cruises may very well be cancelled.

I have since sailed on Holland American, and RCCL. My DH and I will board the Grandeur as Emerald in Oct. and debark as Diamond.

With any luck, I'll be able to report what its like 10 days after.

I certainly hope so as DH and I are scheduled to stop there on 10/28 via the Grandeur.

I certainly hope Haiti and the Bahamas do not suffer any loss of life.
