  1. I am taking my first comped cruise on the Escape in April. I am not a huge player and have been on three straight Away sailings, the last 2 on the Escape. I called CAS after the last cruise and inquired and that is when they offered an oceanview for this sailing. I upgraded to balcony. I also got all 4 offers. I have since received other offers for NCL comped cruises, for slot tournaments and poker.

Interestingly enough, I have received several offers of comped cruises from RCCL also. I took them up on a 7 day Allure cruise in August. Total cost was 93 bucks for a balcony. No other perks though. I have sailed many more cruises with RCCL and have never even thought to check with their casino department. I had seen someone post about contacting NCL so that is why I did that in the first place. Makes you wonder if they are spying on each other either for gamblers. Ha.

Couple of quick questions...what should I expect different from a "normal" cruise? As far as embarkation, etc? I am a newbie at the CAS process and trust you folks to give me better info than I can find anywhere else. Any other onboard perks or unexpected surprises? Just looking for any tips out there.

  2. Visited there last October, loved it. Gonna try Nohoch Caye Beach Club in April of this year. You lose a bit of time traveling to and from Maya Chan; as others have stated the road is quite an adventure. Nohoch is very close to port. But I would still recommend Maya. The folks there are great, the food is good and the drinks are cold!

  3. I hope the Escape gets Andre instead, or is he on another ship? We had him on the Escape in October (covering Tyler's leave I'm assuming) and he was fantastic. I have no idea when that man actually slept as he was everywhere.

I would have previously said that the CD is neither here nor there in my enjoyment of a cruise, until I could compare a bad CD (Clare on the Epic) with an amazing one (Andre on the Escape). Now I will agree a good CD is important!

Andre moved to the Getaway from the Escape after Halloween of 2017. He is my favorite CD. You can follow him on Facebook----Andre at Sea.

  4. Another faithful Embassy/Duffys cruiser here. Never been disappointed. The hotel has the open bar in the evening with snacks and a great free breakfast for the morning of the cruise. Dinner at Duffys the night before has always been delicious and fun. Very family friendly. And the Publix nearby has most anything you need. I always get a few snacks, etc there for the cruise. Ask for a higher floor facing the port. The rooms have very small balconies but it is still great to watch the ships come and go.

  5. We just went in Oasis last year and they had several free places to eat besides the dining rooms and buffet. They all serve different types of food. We went on a 7 day cruise and never spent a dime on any dining.

    Park Cafe

    Boardwalk Dog House

Solarium Bistro (breakfast and lunch only)

    Wipeout Cafe

    Windjammer

    Sorrento's

    Cafe Promenade

    Room Service

    Main Dining Room

    Johnny Rockets (breakfast only)

For me, I will take the free offerings on the Escape over RCCL any day. OSheehans is wonderful. On RCCL you are SOL after about 9 pm unless you want Sorrrentos Pizza or those puny sandwiches at the Promenade Cafe. ( or room service). I love RCCL ships but the food on the Escape puts them to shame. Food Republic is awesome and very reasonable. Heck they even put out wings, sandwiches, etc in the casino round 11 pm. And the late night snacks at the Garden Cafe can really hit the spot after a night of imbibing.

  6. Performed a search but could not find anything. I bought two Cruise Next certificates last week on the Escape. It was very loud at the cruise consultant desk due to live music at the Atrium. I thought I understood the rep to say that the certificates would be emailed to me.

Anyone have experience in how long it usually takes to receive them? Thanks!

  7. Find now a nice breakfast place for the morning (check online). Doesn't matter really if your intercontinental would include already breakfast. Check out early and a taxi at 8:30 and go to that breakfast place. Eat a nice breakfast between 8:45-9:45 or so and then go to the pier around 10-10:30. Problem solved.

Access blocked at 5 am. Problem not solved.

  8. It will also be interesting to get your take on comparing the Escape to the Harmony. I got off of her 6 weeks ago.

I give the edge foodwise to the Escape but no complaints on the Harmony either. For me, Cagneys wins over Chops but Izumi beats Teppenyaki.

Food Republic and District Brew House give the edge to the Escape overall. We were very surprised at the quality of food and drink in both venues.

The entertainment was better on the Harmony though.

I like the Harmony casino much better.

The Thermal spa on the Escape is my favorite cruise ship amenity on any ship I have been on....but we wont open that can of worms again! Ha.

In other words they are both fantastic ships.

    See you Saturday!
