  1. Ok! I should probably look at a map to name the dining room but...when I entered the Discovery upon boarding day, I walked to the right on that deck and the dining room said Club Class by one door where a hostess was standing. (I wasn't club class that cruise). I asked if I could have lunch there and she said yes! I was seated at a large table and after 15 minutes of no one else joining me, I asked to order! Had a delicious salmon ,something else, and the grand marnier souffle for dessert! Eventually a very pleasant club class couple joined me. That was April 22,2022 sailing.

  2. I dined with a couple on my Discovery cruise a few months ago, who had an aft cabin.  After getting soot on their white slacks, they wiped the rail and chairs with a white towel. They then took the towel to customer service to complain and (as they told our table)received $200 each in OBC!!!! I never would have thought of that!

I received my first casino offer via email this year but couldn't use it since I was on another cruise. It wasn't free but a very good deal, not much of a gambler on board.  I contacted my TA and at first he didn't see the offer until I told him it was a casino offer and then he said he could see it. Is there anywhere on the Princess website that shows these offers or do I have to wait and see if I receive another email.

    Thanks for any help

Sign in to the princess website and click on Captains Circle. Click on future cruise credits and it will show casino offers and when the deadline to book is. It also shows if you have applied it to a current booking.

  4. I cruised solo last month on a casino offer and called to ask if i could add a friend to my cabin and what the cost would be. I was told that my category wasn't available even though the cruise wasn't sold out. I only asked my PVP not the casino agent. After i told my friend, even though I HAD asked him earlier if he wanted to go with me,he said he was just worried that I may find a new boyfriend on the cruise! Ha, ha! If I have that  situation again, I will ask both the casino department and the PVP. From what I've been witnessing on cruise critic boards, answers aren't always consistent! It doesn't hurt to ask.

  5. We did laundry once  at one of the lodges. We went to the laundry room as soon as we got our bags in our room. The machines took quarters and there were only 2 in the building as i recall(2019). We brought enough detergent from home to do 2 loads. If the machines are busy, check in the adjacent building laundry room! Not all of the buses or buildings are on the same schedule!

  6. We went on the Princess connoisseur (i think it was called) land and sea tour in 2019. Food is more expensive in Alaska so we didn't consider any other option than the meal plan that was included. I think it was breakfast and dinner. We had a voucher for each meal and could order anything on the menu. The restaurant food was excellent and I think I chose crab almost every time I could! I think that for us, there were a couple of mornings that our bus was leaving earlier than the restaurants were serving but we were able to use the vouchers for the coffee stand where there was fruit, yogurt, muffins, cold cereal and milk, juice. Our guide on the bus came around and asked what time we would like our dinner reservation and called it in for us.

Since Discovery Princess is so new, the odors may be due to a new ship's sometimes "teething problems".  The Room Steward should have informed his/her Supervisor of the issue; then the Chief Housekeeper; then the Engineering Department.

Yes, I bet that is where the stench originated! The steward didn't seem to know what I was referring to! He offered to clean the carpet! I wish that I had known about those drains, I'm sure I won't be the only one complaining. It is the first in 20 cruises that I have had that issue. Thanks! I also will bring one of those solid air fresheners next time.

  8. I just returned from a 5-day Cabo cruise on the Discovery Princess. I enjoyed the cruise, however my cabin had a bad odor which was noticeable to me as soon as I walked in and whenever I didn't have the balcony door open! I asked my room steward to spray with some air freshener but it still didn't smell good. I guess it may have been lingering cigarette smoke. Next cruise i will bring something, but what? Thanks for suggestions.

We’re Canadian and will be arriving in California April 26, testing at home before our flight from Vancouver bc using a monitored rapid test report.
We are going to be staying at Knott’s Berry Farm from April 26-29 (Friday) until we board Discovery Princess in LA.

I know we will need to get testing on Thursday. Is there any free testing we can access anymore in the states? I’ve read conflicting stuff saying you can just go in to Walgreens/ CVS and show Canadian ID and say you don’t have insurance and receive a test that way… any truth to that?

Soooo stressful having to worry about all of this before a vacation. There are 8 of us total on the cruise and i’m so scared one of us will test positive before boarding 😞

It’s going to be close!  It usually arrives 10-14 days before your sail date.

Don’t worry, if you don’t get it, only takes a few mins to get it at the port.

I live in your approximate area and mine just arrived in my mailbox today, for my cruise that leaves on April 29 .

Yes. We boarded and called to make reservations because we couldn’t ever do it on the app. We were told that all specialty restaurants are totally booked for all nights this week.

So now, when the specialty restaurant begins serving, try going there in person, ask for a table and see what they say. That used to work before the app "occasionally". Possibly someone cancels their reservation or they have more servers and an empty table. Don't give up! i hope that will work for you.

And who knows - with the number of solo travellers hitting the Upper 49th by cruise ship you might get lucky and find someone to join you in a LTR At least you'll know that they share your love of travel, and at worst you might just get lucky and enjoy your cruise! 🙂

That IS how I met the"lucky" man I have been traveling with and dating for the past 7 years now! I signed up for a singles escorted cruise to Alaska and we hadn't met until we were cruising the glaciers. I was hanging out with some of the ladies from the group and he asked if we wanted him to take a photo of us. Then we found out we lived about 40 minutes from each other and began dating after that cruise! i think we have gone on 6 cruises together plus we did the Alaska trip that Princess offers (1 week land tour/1 week cruise). We have also done some land trips and were spending more time together pre-Covid. Don't put off traveling while you are healthy and can afford it, is my advice!

  13. I received a postcard in January from Princess players club and set it aside until yesterday. It said book by March 2. I called Princess reservations yesterday and asked if any West coast cruises were still available? Now I have booked a Cabo 5 day cruise on Discovery in April. I will be going solo. $398 balcony, drinks, $150 OBC, and $500 casino freeplay!! This is my first time claiming one of these offers and I hope it won't be my last offer.

  14. We used the magic bus several times from one of the Disney hotels to MCO airport and then used the RCCL transportation(a bus) from there to the port. I don't recall the price, but it was convenient, reliable and safe. Therefore easy and not stressful! When we got to the port, they told us  our bags would be delivered to our cabins,so one less time to drag it around. I don't know what they are charging now, but being that WDW and the port are quite a distance from each other, I would do it that way again.
