They are getting ours. We are taking a cruise for Dh 60th Bday to Bermuda.

Something that he has wanted to do for a long time. 2 days in Boston pre-cruise then a 7 day cruise to Bermuda, We have never been to Boston before.On on bucket list. Just do it! Right?

krazy4cruisin - I live about 2 hrs north of Boston and really have grown to love the city (I was originally a NYC girl through and through) except for driving in Boston ( a lot of 1 way streets) Make sure you do the Freedom Trail (easily done at a slow pace during the day) and Faneiul Hall - The MBTA (subway) is a great transportation system and there is "an app" for the MBTA that shows the lines and where they go .. If you want any other ideas feel free to message me and will happily give you some ideas :)

 

Celebrity was wonderful in that most everything was quietly comped and the experience was always more refined because of it. That being said, there is far less to comp on Celebrity than NCL and Royal.

 

What is the experience like when staying in the Haven when it comes to experiences outside the 'bubble'? Are specialty restaurants comped? If you have the promo packages are you still pressed to spend more for 'upcharge' entrees or certain restaurants? Activities/shows/events, do you get free passes? Are things just removed on your bill at the end? Do staff outside the haven recognize if you're in a top suite?

 

Any idea how it compares with Royal in the same regard?

I am thinking you may be more happy on Celebrity in your bubble and away from us "other " haven cruisers that dont care if we have a comp meal or front row seats. :rolleyes:

NY port is huge and there are not a ton of Haven signs.

OK, as soon as you walk into the pier at the NY port, tell them you are in the Haven. They will escort you to a priority line then you will go thru security.

Now you will go into another area for to check in. Look for the Haven sign OR just tell anyone who is working there that you are in the Haven. They should escort you to the Haven checkin counter. Afterwards they should seat you in a roped off Haven section.

You definitely want to be sitting there because they escort the Haven passengers onto the ship FIRST. They will bring you right up to the Haven deck and give you the tour, then you can go to your cabin and have lunch in the Haven restaurant...... such a great perk to make your first day amazing!!!

I love that you include "getting there" details and specifics (nothing sets my teeth more than reviews with "this was great", I just wanna scream, "what, WHAT was great about it?!") I'm looking for something in Costa Maya for our family- pre graduation spring break cruise with hubby and our 2 college students. One who is a design student and will love those folk sculptures everywhere! Also hubby and I love to bike and renting a bike to cruise down the malecon would be a blast! Last time there we went on a snorkel tour and it was so rough, we literally had sea sickness IN the water! :eek:

I hadnt read this review yet from you (Mitsugirly) but OMG when this popped up on my new CC feed .... I looked at the first image with the rocks and was thinking " ok so where is Sakuri and why an issue?" THEN I scrolled down and saw the NEXT pic WITH Sakuri and almost fell outta my chair. Love it !

That post is complete nonsense. There is no Haven Pin and the butler is not the one doing laundry (the room steward delivers the laundry to the same laundry facility as everyone else's laundry and the price and turnaround time are the same as for everyone else).

Yes LrgPizza it does exist - just like Santa ;).. our kids (well one of them now cause the other 2 have graduated high school) - go back after labor Day. Much of that is because in our district there are Fairs that end Labor Day and there are ALOT of kids that work them, with that said, we are in rural New Hampshire :D and we also go into the 2nd week of June!

I'm the same way. I'll be printing out every single paper I possibly can "just in case". I'll only be able to relax once on I'm onboard and have a pina colada in my hand! Only 5 more weeks. I can't wait!!!

yep :) have a great cruise! We dont sail till August and it cant come fast enough! Thinking my first drink is gonna be a "Miami Vice" that was my go to drink last year on the Dawn.

I actually had the same problem today , then came here and lo and behold there was the answer in CC!! Yes, they do put your ammeneties as the day you disembark , dont ask me why but I bet when they get so many people calling confused they change it! I ended up calling my TA and she contacted NCL and they sent her an email that SHOWS the embarkation date as the start date.

Its not that i DONT trust NCL but I know I want everything in writing when I get on board!

Ok so a "few" questions/problems and maybe you'll be able to help me out.

 

We'll start with the first. During my "very early" reviews, I would just type up a review, show the limited number of pictures within that post and then provide a link to the entire album of pictures. Well, after so many cruises, I decided I needed a little more organization and started making "folders" on my Smugmug with each cruise ship and then within the folder to different categories (like the port pictures listed in its own gallery). Well once I did that, of course, it changed my url link and made all my old review links invalid. While I know I can't change the post on here to the valid link, is there a way to made that old link actually go to the pictures? As in change the url the pictures are currently located at to the old url link? I'm pretty sure I deleted all those old folders, which would mean the old url went out the door with them too. Any thoughts? I hope that is making sense. :o

I apologize if this has been posted before. I am so frustrated right now I could just punch a wall.

I have been receiving multiple emails lately about the Canada at Par promotion with NCL. I finally logged into the website today and found a cruise that suited me and my family perfectly. Called relatives, everyone got excited. I called NCL only to be told that the Bermuda cruises shouldn't be showing up on the website for this promotion. Sorry - you can't have this price!!!

I am shocked and feel very disrespected. I have cruised with NCL 3x in the past and am a Latitudes member. I spoke with both a CSR and a Manager. The Manager especially was extremely rude when I questioned him. It is so unprofessional to have something posted and not honour it.

Has anyone else exprienced this!? If you go to their website and search for the Canada at Par promotion, the Bermuda link is still clearly there. I tried calling external travel agencies for help and they could not help me. I am so frustrated and I just want the advertised price to be honoured.

Grab a screen shot ASAP so you have ammunition for them to argue

To the OP - Yes if you are in a Haven Aft OR Spa you will have priority boarding - I imagine (and HOPE) among the Haven guests seeing someone in a wheelchair will take priority - just polite manners IMHO - I have taught my children that they wait till people get off an elevator before getting on and above all else wheelchair or elderly get preferential treatment! I will suggest though you get to the port earlier rather than later so you both can be among the first haven people aboard - When are you going?

So I will start off with an apology if this has been addressed many times but my anxiety and not thinking straight. I originally booked myself in a mini suite and I have friends booked in cabins next to me. Yes I booked alone, it was my indulgence after a very bad year. My mom who has cancer, very depressed after losing dad recently expressed interest in going with me and of course I cannot deny her anything. Her prognosis has been fluctuating with a pet scan after cruise. I added her to my booking and arranged wheelchair for embarking/disembarking. She has a oxygen concentrater and dr's have given their ok. But still nervous in making sure her needs are met and the lines of embarking/disembark and anything that requires standing in lines or walking any distance. Although she is a trouper, she is an awesome woman. The regular Haven suites, are shrinking in availability and although i would give a body part still seem out of reach for me to afford. The haven spa suites seem to be more plentiful, do they offer the same services like butler that the other haven suites offer? I am looking for priority embark/disembark and room service in case she had a bad day. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. My friends will help, but don't want to be a burden on them.

Yes - any of the H categories off the same benefits - BUT and I am not sure about this but some of the ships like the Breakaway do not have the haven Spa suite in the same area as the pool and restaurant (again depending on the ship) You might want to look if its an option to an aft Haven room I hear that those rooms have HUGE balcony's and probably more room for your mom to move around although I am sure the spa suite will be grand with just the 2 of you

Hey I have been to Bermuda, but truthfully I don't remember. Can I do the Dockyard with my scooter. The only time I was in Bermuda I just did a tour and didn't even stop to look around the Dockyard..

Bigmama - are talking a motor scooter or one that people use with mobility issues that can go on a sidewalk? I wouldnt recommend using a motor scooter unless you are VERY VERY experienced with driving on the other side of the road. We saw quite a few accidents there the last time with people driving the scooters that were from the US and they were spectacular accidents and thankfully NOT fatal or critical .

I did pay the full price--not an upsell. I got all four promos. I just needed to know, if a Haven is booked, do you pay the gratuities on those promos? And I definitely WILL tip the butler and concierge. I already have the money put aside in an envelope even though we don't sail until October. This whole Haven thing is going to be a surprise to my DH.

No you do not pay the gratuity in a Haven Cabin

The hubby said "I have to have a picture with Sam I Am, just me ok?" LOL He's such a kid at heart. I heard him go up to the character and said "Can I get a picture with you because I'm Sam I Am too!"

When we were done with our breakfast, one of the waiters told us not to leave because there's a "show" they did at the end. A huge majority of people had already left, but I have never seen a show before at the end and I wanted to stay. So, while we were waiting, Sakari want to go around and have her picture taken.

 

 

 

 

 

 

One of my most lasting memories as a nurse was taking care of a genleman towards the end , he had neve read Green Eggs and Ham so I found a copy (this was way before I had kids) and read it to him, he wanted to hear this over and over and I obliged, for days,,, I always have had a soft spot for this book.

We are among the "not "rich cruisers going in a Haven for the next trip. My thoughts on choosing this over a balcony room are primarily the time of year- We are going in August to Bermuda. The ship will be PACKED so we decided to get a spa Haven room , we are on the same deck as anyone else but we have access to the Haven and all that comes with having a suite in the Haven. Everyone chooses their rooms for many reasons , I dont plan on putting on "airs " but I will certainly enjoy my trip !

Another nurse who doesn't drink coffee and dislikes water and loves her soda.

I was a big Pepsi drinker for 20 years then somehow switched to Coke Zero.

 

That said I AM trying to cut back!!!

I too am a "former nurse" 20 years practicing in Emergency and ICU- although I guess we never leave it, I found once I started having kids, I just didnt want to bring everything home to them (mind you my oldest is now 20) Now I sell Real Estate and tell my friend that no one has died if they cant get into the house they want .. zero stress AND I am also ADDICTEd TO dIET PEPSI !! - have been since nursing school

OMG we did a Jeep/snorkle excursion there in Cozumel , I am always just bummed when i realize it is time to go and STOOOOPID me hasnt taken any pictures!!!! But the snorkeling there was the BEST have seen, better than T & C's and Bermuda ! I had totaly forgotten the name of this place till I saw your pix! and it was only in January! And YES it was SO maddening that you had to walk all the way through the mall to get to the vehicles!

Is there ANYWAY , or maybe I have missed it, you could put the ships names for the places you have gone? In your signature line , If that is a big pia then dont worry about it

I was cruising (no pun intended) a few other ships forums last night , as expected , all sorts of negative mixed with positive reviews there also. I am going on the Breakaway in August in a Haven room and I PLAN on having a great time no matter what!

Dont freak out, call NCL or whomever you booked with and see if they can help you. Worse comes to worse when we cruised last year to Bermuda, we were told there were reservations available onboard.

I wonder how much of these new ideas and improvements per se are coming from the Americas Cup race in 2017 , there are many ideas floating around and assuming SOME of these will come to fruition in the next year

Yes, it covers a la cart. The number of meals is dependent on how many days your cruise is. I think it's three meals for a 7-day cruise. But, if you ask on the NCL forum you'll get the right answer.

Probably a REALLY dumb question, I have the SDP for our upcoming cruise ( part of the recent promotion). my question is i dont have any clue how many days that promotion covers AND does it cover the ala cart choices ?
