On the Miracle, they held 50% off drink specials on most cocktails a couple of days during our cruise.  It turned out it wasn't 50% off the price...it was double the size of the drink for the same price!  We were served our drinks in a pitcher with a big straw for the same price as a glass!

This was the port day happy hour. When we were on the Miracle we would hustle back on the ship from port to grab a pitcher or two. Quite the good deal. We loved the Red Frog on the Miracle.

  2. My son and I did a 5 day last September on the Sensation and just like you, had a blast. Going back to a Fantasy Class ship definitely is an enjoyable experience. I can honestly say it was just about the best cruise we had been on. I too love the smaller ship experience. We would much rather sail with 2000 passengers than 4500. Thanks for the quickie review. Will have to go check out pictures.

  3. We have stayed prior to a cruise twice. We absolutely loved Villa Herencia in OSJ. It's a little boutique hotel with about 9 rooms. We also stayed right across the street at the Sheraton OSJ. So convenient to walk across the street to the ship (assuming Carnival).

  4. It's a fair question to ask. People do wear them. It doesn't bother or matter to me. If you are a rule follower, and there's nothing wrong with that, I'd pack something similar but comfortable. My wife is a rule follower and wouldn't wear them, but I'm not looking at everyone's feet at dinner either.

  5. Because some prefer to dress up for dinner and not go as slobs.....you offered up the softball...see it sail out of the park?

Oh ye of little sense of humor. It was throwing up the sarcastic softball to see who would take it seriously. I now return you to the OP’s thread.

  6. I second that there is no way to cancel a booking hold. That was rather annoying as that was the only active trip showing and it wasn't the actual cruise I have booked. Secondly, I can't add my phone number to my booking as it tells me that I need to have a valid VIFP number to book under this rate code. Hmmm...I have a valid VIFP#. I don't understand fixing something that's not broken.

  7. Drinks for sure, they have 1/2 off fishbowls the first day.

When we did the Miracle in 2018 they had happy hour pitchers of frozen drinks on port days before 5. I think they were something like $10. Get two to go! Enjoy!

  8. I need help! I cannot seem to find any images of a balcony room for four people on a Fantasy class ship! Could anyone provide an image of a Four Person Balcony room, preferably on the Paradise!

This was our balcony cabin on the Sensation. It would be tight with 4, but heck, that’s what makes for a fun experience.

  9. We are all about beaches and eastern/southern is the place to be for us. We love St. John, HMC, Grand Turk, St Maarten, Barbados, Aruba. Nachi in Cozumel and 7 mile beach on Grand Cayman are great options if going west, but I’m not a fan of Belize, Roatan or Jamaica.

  10. You can make your cruise whatever you want it to be. You don’t have to party at all if you don’t want. I’ve never sailed from Cali so I can’t speak to it. Cozumel has plenty of options for nature. If you ever get the chance, the southern itinerary from San Juan, St Lucia is amazing. There are a lot of great options on that itinerary.

  11. Sailing first week in November and glad to hear about your experience. How does Carnival do the upgrade offer?

It’s a metric that I don’t understand regarding upsell offers. I’ve been on 8 cruises and have been offered reasonable upsells twice which I took and one that I deemed not to be a good deal and refused. My guess is I had booked a room that was a desirable category and offered me an upgrade at a cost where they could make money for both cabins.

  12. We just got off the Sensation 5 day this past Thursday, 9/20. Much to my surprise it was quite possibly the best cruise I’ve been on. We had an amazing time. It is a Fantasy class ship but it checked all the boxes that were important to us. It helped that we received an upsell to a balcony that was a great deal. The service all over the ship was terrific. Not a bad thing to say about this cruise.

  13. The last two trips I booked were both booked within 60 days. I got great deals by being flexible and lucky in searching. I look frequently so I have a decent understanding of what is a true “deal” and what is just marketing. There is no tried and true method other than look often, be somewhat flexible and hopefully you will catch something at just the right time and get yourself a deal.
