  1. When we first booked our Conquest sailing which leaves on the 29th I booked the steakhouse the old fashioned way. I have an email with my confirmation for St Thomas day. We decided to book another night and had to book it the new way where we prepaid for this reservation. My guess the new program was rolled out in the time between.

It depends on the ship, if it’s a special occasion, etc. But generally we book mid-ship balconies on a deck that has only cabins both above and below us. This usually means we can take the stairs most places and no fear of a noisy public area above us. I’ve always avoided the Lido deck due to the fear of noise and foot traffic but maybe I’ll rethink that now for future cruises.

This☝️. For our upcoming Conquest Cruise we have the very last balcony cabin before the aft wrap. It's a larger balcony and the odd shaped cabin but we have cabins above us and below us. We have had a spa deck balcony on the Liberty. That was uncovered and people from the open deck on 12 could look down on us. Not a fan of that. We have had an aft cabin but boy was that HOT. Rendered the balcony useless during the day. For our upcoming Breeze cruise we have our first cove balcony. Looking forward to that.

It doesn't matter how far away the sailing is.  We were notified by email in March of this year for a change of itinerary for one of our Breeze cruises in April 2021.

We're on the 4/10/2021 8 day on the Breeze and haven't seen a change for that. We booked it to be able to go to Bonaire. It's a great itinerary.

Update on my military appreciation pin.

First, I got some mail earlier today. CD Kevin gave all of the Veterans who attended the gathering a hand-written note thanking us, a picture of the Valor that he signed, and a wooden “Thank You for Your Service” token. Also included was a card from the charity he donates to, OperationThankYou. That’s very thoughtful of him and I greatly appreciate it.

He announced that he was going to be at the Build-A-Bear event, so I went there and met him in the hall. Thanked him for the card and other items, we exchanged pleasantries, and I told him about losing my pin. He said he’d get me a new one. I figured he’d just give one to our steward, but we just passed him in the hall with one of his Fun Squad members a little bit ago. He delivered it to our cabin personally. Color me impressed. I’ll say it again, despite what I think of him as a CD, he’s earned my respect with the personal attention he’s given those of us at the military gathering and me personally. Good on ya, Kevin.

Everyone has different sensibilities but Kevin was one of the best CD's we have had. He was the CD on the Sensation for my cruise with my son for his college graduation. He did a great job keeping the fun vibe we had going that week. It was one of the best cruises I've had. It's a shame my wife couldn't be there but he was great for those 5 days.

I was first on the boat and had to wait until over 20 other people boarded.

The floor we were on clearly wasn’t glass. This other guy on the shuttle...Kitts McGee points out he paid for a glass bottom boat. I tell Kitts the glass is probably on the bottom but you can’t see it because it’s under water.

I had heard that you have to wait until the shuttle is full before they pull out and that was true.

I got on the shuttle at 11:04 and we waited until it was packed to the gills and we continued to wait. Kitts McGee asks where they are going to put additional people. I speculate they may seat people in our laps.

We finally pulled out at 11:30. It turns out the shuttle leaves every half hour and it was bad timing arriving at 11:04.

We did the water taxi to Paradise Island a few years back and it was sketchy at best. Won't do that again. They didn't even go every half hour. We sat on a boat while the operators debated whether or not they wanted to take us back because it wasn't full. We just grabbed a cab and drove back.

  6. We had an extended aft on a 10 day into the Panama Canal. It was great. The extra room and view was fantastic. The only thing I will say is that it gets HOT back there. There is no breeze and the sun beats in there. It easily feels 20 degrees hotter back there. At night it was great as it was in the mornings. The only problem with a balcony is once you have one you'll never want to cruise any other way again.
