Audience participation is wayyy down these past couple of days. Maybe I scared away all the readers? Whatever... I forge ahead...

Still here. Just finished snowblowing the driveway so the wife could get to a funeral. With the snow that’s currently falling I’ll have to do this at least once more today and again tomorrow.

Carry on at the Red Frog. I’ll just be here living vicariously through you.

I wanted to try and get something local to eat, so I stopped by this tiny place called Birra and Empanada for one chicken and one beef empanada. It's for sure small and rustic, and the bathroom there was definitely one of the more interesting. And by interesting I mean it was so small that I could barely fit in there without touching both walls, and I weigh all of 150 lbs soaking wet...

Birra and Empanada is on my list to do when we sail out of San Juan next month. We’re spending 3 days in OSJ prior to our embarkation. Definitely want local food.

Brinkley’s cheer practice was canceled so we decided to have the Texas Roadhouse for dinner.  We got gift cards for Christmas, so this is basically a free meal. I think we only eat here when we have gift cards honestly. I’m starting off with a Legend margarita.

I didn’t see this until now. You have to see if they will make you a “Roadie”. Used to be their signature marg. Some old school bartenders still know how to make it. It’s a go to when we go, if they will still make it.

Belize is a hot mess to tender into even on a small ship.

Four hours into our port stop, Mike just called the last group of ticket holders to the tenders.

If you've never been to Belize and don't book an excursion, plan on getting up early for a ticket or you will spend your day waiting to get off.

I'm really surprised a ship this big stops here, it is about a 20-30 minute ride to the island, so they aren't moving people very fast with each tender taking about an hour round trip.

The last time we were there we hopped in the tender just for the ride and check out the port shops. We enjoy the ride in the water. I will say it poured on the way back. We found a center standing spot away from the windows. We were dry. The lightning and thunder on the water added to the ambiance of the ride. So many people were panicking. We sleep on our boat in the summer so storms on the water aren’t new to us.

Taking a slightly different path back to the ship to get me closer to the boats in the harbor.

The ferry from St John dropped us off in downtown and we did the harbor walk back to the ship. We loved walking along the water and through the marina on the way back to the ship. Again, one of our favorite islands. Looks like a beautiful day.

Tonight was a great night I really didn't think I was going to make it past dinner after the day I had and the night of light sleep but I ended up pulling through and having a great night, even with my mobile bartender trying to sabotage me!

I'm back in the room a little earlier than I would have liked, but I made it until midnight. Two sea days until we reach our first port which will be St. Thomas.

    Good night everyone.

Good for you on the rebound. Glad the day ended up being a good one.

I was going to ask - what's the best and most reasonable place to stay in SJ. I understand transportation to the pier is hard to find, is that true?

Transportation in San Juan and OSJ isn’t hard to find at all. Regular cabs or Uber are available. Standardized zone rates are available from the airport taxis to places in San Juan. Prices have always been reasonable. It won’t be an issue.

I spoke to someone at VV.  They use Pier 4 at the port in Old San Juana

    Perfect.
We’re staying just a short walk from the pier right in OSJ. We’re going down Wednesday and staying for a few days before. We chose Wednesday because we could get nonstop flights from Cleveland down and fortunately can get nonstops to Cleveland back after the cruise. Can’t wait for it to get here. Have to get through basketball season first. First game Friday.

What terminal does VV embark at, Old San Juan or Pan American? The information I am reading is not specific. Thx!

From what I’ve seen it’s in OSJ. Hoping that’s accurate as we plan on walking the three blocks to the pier.
