  1. Thank you we had that happen on our May first sailing on Joy they had a special and never did increase the bids back up because the inventory started to sell down at about the 60 day mark we went from like 40 cabins available each week the dropped the going price and by 30 days before sailing we were sold out for haven. We sailed at 59 percent capacity but haven was 100 sold out
  2. First, you must book directly with NCL or a travel agent that participates must of the discounted travel agency so not participate. Second if you the qualify you will receive an email or a banner on your ncl home page on or around 115 to 80 days before sailing. You are allowed to be up two meta categories, for example insides bid on ocean view and balconies. Ocean view bids up to balconies and club balconies mini suites, and balconies can bid on club balconies mini suites and the various haven categories. You use the link from the email for the upgrade advantage program to bid and their is a scale that goes from poor bid on up, and it tells you right on the link q and a that most bids are awarded 10 to 2 days before sailing so the Monday before sailing thru that Friday. I’ve had bids awarded on the Tuesday, Wednesday and 2 more awarded at like 1pm Friday for sailing that Sunday. It’s all about algorithms to maximize profits, each sailing is different a holiday sailing almost already sold out versus an off season sailing will have different minimum maximum bids, etc. also reading a couple of pages of this thread from the beginning might help you understand the program better.Haysailing.
  3. That seems so early, six weeks, unless they are almost full it just seems weird but we shall see hoping to hear more from the poster who’s sailing is closing bidding six weeks before sailing on how it’s worded from upgrade advantage and then when do they award those winners
  4. I’ve never hard the bidding close like that how weird something new? My sailing in two weeks is open and no one on roll call has gotten upgrades I’m expecting to see them like Tuesday to Friday before Sunday sailing
  5. I said some had to since I’ve been following the thread but very very few
  6. I’ve been watching this and the previous thread that was over 300 pages since 2018 and it was very few and almost always a haven to open up balconies etc on full ships. They are in business to maximize profits so it if you follow the algorithm it does not normally make financial sense to do it early
  7. You do a mock booking to check inventory, NCL only shows maximum of 15 cabins even if more available per sub category but some TA sites show more. Happy sailing!
  8. Yes that would be the minimum if you click on the link or email link it will bring you to the details and you can see minimum to maximum bid options Happy Sailing
  9. It doesn’t Matter at 100 plus really if you big now or wait until lik 10 days or so before cruise since 95 percent at least or more of the bids are not processed until 3 to 5 business days before, all bidding right at 100 days plus is give them algorithms towards what average bids are at a certain point before sailing date, occasionally it’s been reported that if it’s a slow sailing they do lower the minimum bids but again it’s only if they haven’t reached a certain quota Happy Sailing
  10. The one ive used since 2018 and has helped me with upgrade advantage, just google cruise travel agencies on NH the one with the city starting with M is the that shows up to 100 per sub category, Happy Sailing
  11. Yes I just checked currently 338 cabins at least available including category BA which shows 100 plus available, now havens been sold out for weeks, i cabin just opened but I’m sure that will be snapped up, almost all club balconies gone too, we shall see but right now it’s certainly not at capacity
  12. Yes I just went there as well did every category total 245 open cabins all categories subcategories Happy sailing.
  13. Almost all bids are awarded 3 to 5 days out, the key is to just have patience and monitor inventory added more money thus far from sail date won’t get you the upgrade faster patience and if inventory is low hopefully she will hear a few days before sailing
  14. You still have a great chance looking at inventory on a website I use that shows cabins including above 15 per category I see 77 currently available in the various ocean view categories, didn’t look at all of balconies as well but in the BA category alone their were 42 left, I would say they just haven’t done the upgrade process yet could even be next Monday or Tuesday before they do. Happy sailing.
  15. You will be eligible as a guarantee with or without free at sea IF you booked directly with ncl or a travel agency that participates in the upgrade advantage program. Several of the big box travel agents do not participate. Happy sailing.
  16. I’ve been studying them since 2018, example my most recent cruise on the Joy in May, at 80 days out my notes say there were still 38 cabins available, prices for haven continued to drop and by 30 days there were less than 20 and within the last 7 days only 11 haven available that disappeared the Monday of the week of the cruise to never appear again, it’s all about supply and demand what happens on a offseason sailing is not what will happen on a Xmas/spring break cruise. Happy sailing.
  17. Yes but only if you booked direct with ncl or with a ta that participates because a lot of the big box TA’s do not remember just because you get the offer up to 110 days out 95 percent or more are not upgraded until 2 to 5 days before sailing. good luck!
  18. First if you are more than 110 days out it’s way way to early, second did you book direct or thru a Travel agent a lot don’t participate, not everyone gets the option for upgrade advantage
  19. The soonest you will see the offer is 110 days out, Also if you booked with a Travel agent make sure they participate in the upgrade advantage program many don’t and then be patient because almost all upgrades are not processed until 3 to 5 days before sailing
  20. Good luck but it always says pending but it’s a good sign since the others expired
  21. 10 minutes of research shows 402 available cabins right now which is closer to 80 percent capacity at the moment, of course inventory will continue to go down for last minute bookings, interesting though is several havens in most categories available unlike breakaway a few days later with just one left happy sailing
  22. That was just balconies and remember two categories of balconies are at 100 plus available and have been since I’ve been monitoring since end of may, total cabins that I can see available as of yesterday is 502, their are 2014 total cabins on the breakaway, now I monitored my early may sailing on the joy for months before as well and we ended up at like 60 percent capacity, I know the numbers are nowhere near as low as early May, time will tell happy sailing to all.
