  1. Two sailings this year both time decorated just make sure to use magnets no tape so it keeps the door from getting messy for the next cruise Happy cruising!
  2. Yes I agree NCL doesn’t handle the bidding it’s upgrade advantage their third party system so calling NCL and asking on whether upgrades are being processed and if they are going live etc they wouldn’t know
  3. Thank you for an another great informative review. The balcony cabin’s really like so nice bright and larger plus the balcony chairs now have cushions which I think is a nice touch. Enjoy your cruise!
  4. The program that handles the upgrades is called upgrade advantage it’s a third party company. Their is no “person” who assigns the upgrades it’s all handled by the program based on inventory and maximum profits. Unfortunately your sailing if you have checked inventory is very full in all categories of club balconies currently showing only 2 available, so your odds are not very good. Typically balconies and club balconies upgrades are not awarded until the week before sailing. Enjoy your cruise
  5. Considering only one ship last week had the “old” type muster officially and there is nothing in writing from NCL that they are going back to the old way, I’m surprised we are on page 6 already on this issue I’m just take the wait and see what happens attitude either way I’ll be on a cruise so life is good.
  6. If you click on modify and that’s all that comes up that’s all you can bid on you can’t bid on every category, for example if in inside you can bid on ocean view or balcony, in a balcony you can bid on club balcony mini suites and havens
  7. Go to modify it will pull up your current bids and also any other categories that you are allowed to bid on that you haven’t yet. Happy sailing!
  8. No you get whatever the computer assigns in your winning category no exceptions that I’ve heard of in the 5 years I’ve been following this thread happy Sailing!
  9. It’s only some select sailings that are live bid, sometimes the banner doesn’t come up when in certain browsers, try a different link or better yet review your offers from the email link. happy sailing!
  10. On a sold out Xmas cruise good luck, all you are doing is raising the price for future cruise dates since one of the main reasons they have you bid on sold out categories is to capture the data for algorithms for future cruise. Happy sailing!
  11. No that has been happening off and on for about a year, if you go back several pages you will hear about it, it seems on some, not all, but some select sailings they have been trying out a live type bidding process good luck and happy sailing
  12. Remember it’s only 33 days away, and all of the categories you want are sold out, the odds are not in your favor, at all. It’s a XMAS cruise after all their is always the possibility that someone might cancel but they will just put the haven cabin back into regular inventory and it will probably sell out within a day or so since your on such a premium date. Happy sailing, next time if you really want haven you should try off season.
  13. No you will get the rate you see or close to it if the price difference is 9,000 difference between bidding and not bidding calling isn’t going to change the going price sounds like on your particular cruise either haven is very full or it’s not to close to sailing date so the haven’t started lowering the price
  14. First, booking thru a TA often the TA do not participate in the bidding program including almost all of the big box TA do not participate. Second, if you are eligible you will either get an email from NCL like 2 to 3 days after making your final payment since you are with 110 dsys of sailing, or you can also check your banner when you sign on to NCL and on that first page scroll they the banners and see if you have the keys get you upgraded banner. So then if you have the option if your in a balcony you can bid on upgrading from club balcony to haven and their will be a slider showing the minimum to maximum bid options. If you are in inside you can bid on only ocean view and balconies. Then and this is important be patient check inventory by doing mock bookings and realize that 95 percent or more of bids are not upgraded until 3 to 5 days before sailing. Also, continue to check pricing if price goes down sometimes it’s just cheaper to upgrade directly. Happy sailing!
  15. Yes, but it really doesn’t mean anything, each and every sailing the inventory and algorithms are different you need to do the research and check inventory and bid accordingly and sometimes it’s just cheaper to upgrade directly close to sailing. Happy sailing
  16. Good luck with 34 days out there is only 2 left in Category HG, and upping/lowering your bid at 34 days out makes no difference since almost all bids are not processed until 5 days or even less prior to sailing, I would suggest seeing how much more it is to pay to just upgrade, or expand your bids to at least a few other categories, and continue to check availability what you will find though is historically every Thursday or Friday they lower the haven categories close to sailing I doubt with 17 left at 34 days by the time bidding comes around their will be any available other than maybe a select few which will go at food or better bids, happy sailing
  17. They are pending immediately after you do your offer but you only see it that way in one screen
  18. The answer is yes to the restaurant but no the mini bid or even a higher bid won’t get you any havens on this cruise. Did you check inventory, I did your cruise is sold out of all haven categories you can sure bid but your chances of winning the power ball are probably better. Happy sailing.
  19. I’m guessing you meant Nov 18th not Oct? If so did you do a mock booking, I did haven is sold out not sure for how long but it’s gone. Now if you are trying from a inside to a balcony I would say you had a good chance but normally upgrades are given out 3 to 5 business days prior so it’s to early, I would say next Tuesday to Thursday if your in a inside. I did a quick mock booking took like 5 minutes found over 183 assorted balconies. Happy cruising
  20. Thank you for taking us along on a great review, we were on the breakaway oct 16-23, so just a week before you got on, I thought the ship and service was great! I did miss the beaches you get with a warm climate cruise but it was fun.
  21. Jamie, great review. I miss your input all the time on the upgrade thread you were always one of the voice’s of reason. I get so frustrated in those that think they can upgrade to a haven on a minimum bid on a sold out Xmas cruise, and why they don’t hear sooner if they don’t get the upgrade etc. Anyhow continue to enjoy the rest of your cruise when we were on her last month I have to say the service everywhere we went was excellent.
  22. We just got off on Sunday, on Thursday in Canada it was Mixx on deck 6, osheeeneehs on deck 7, and prime meridian on deck 8, deck 15 waves pool bar, not sure about deck 17 but I do know that Mixx had waiters coming down elevators getting drinks and bringing them elsewhere
  23. We just got off a lovely cruise on a 7 night New England cruise on the Breakaway and had a great time. The speciality restaurants especially were extra good service everywhere was excellent, and just like our May cruise on the Joy, saw more people constantly with carts with cleaning supplies keeping everything spotless. Only weird thing and I just thought it was weird I watched a couple of movies in the atrium like I normally do and they no longer offered fresh popcorn, popcorn and movies to just go hand in hand. Anyhow we had a great trip if anyone has any questions on Breakaway let me know. Happy cruising.
  24. Thank you for another great review I so enjoy all your pictures and details. Looking forward to the rest of the review.
