  1. We are cruising the Oasis end of April we last cruised back in 2009 and it was on the Oasis inaugural- been a long time. We are excited to see the changes since we were last on. Can you tell me how the food is overall in the MDR. We will be eating here the bulk of our time with only Chops and Giovanni's table booked- we loved those 2 places from last time. Also, since she is now sailing out of Port Canaveral- how is the process of embarkation there? We like to arrive early and do they have a special place for priority boarding?? After this cruise we will be emerald and I was just wondering how the process went. Do you know what took the place of the cupcake cuboard?? Not sure what is there now. Thanks again.

I personally found the food great in the MDR. I ate there 3 times each time having something different. It was very good! I did Chops. I'll be doing it again tonight. The filet was fall apart good! I never did try Giovanni's so I can't talk about it. I do know from a fellow cruiser that if you have the eat, play, dine deal then you get a different menu thank the regular menu.

I found it easier than Miami. Miami was extremely busy and crowded. I have heard that there were long lines for shuttles and it took forever to get dropped off. I was there fairly early so I didn't notice it myself. From what I noticed there was a reserved area for Diamond Plus and suite guests but everyone else was in the same holding area. You will be boarding before the general boarding because of your C&A status as it goes b2b, wedding parties, pinnacle & suites then C&A status. The families and those needing assistance are mixed in their somewhere as well. Then non C&A guests.

I was general boarding group 2 and it was quick. I was on board by 11;30 I think. Was cupcake cupboard on the boardwalk across from the dog house? If it was then it's now cups and scoops. Ice cream and cupcakes for a fee

  2. Yesterday was mostly spent relaxing at sea. I spent a good portion of the day on my balcony reading my book.

I've been reflecting on my time here and the comparisons to the Norwegian Getaway. It's almost like comparing apples to oranges. Both companies are good at what they do but in some ways Royal does it better than Norwegian. I like Norwegian and I loved the solo suite but I'm not a fan of their ships. I find them too crowded, to noisy, and more of a party like atmosphere. I'm the type of person that goes to bed early and is up early. I'd rather know that I don't have to worry about what noise is coming through the walls or from 2 floors down.

That being said..there are things about Norwegian that I wish Royal had...like the Thermal suite. I spent a lot of time in that spa last year and I would this year if it was available. They have something similar but it's not the same. The buffet on Norwegian is far better for hours of operation. It never closes..the one on Oasis does and it baffles me. There are people who would really enjoy a late night snack or a mid afternoon lunch but they close it at 3pm or there are no really good options at night. Like I said..apples and oranges.

Would I sail Oasis again...yes I most likely would. Would I sail Norwegian...if the price and destination were right then sure. I see me on Oasis more before I see myself on a Norwegian ship again. But that's my personal opinion and feeling. I'll be looking very carefully at all the options available for next winter once I get home.

  3. Thank u for those. Here I am getting ready for bed and suddenly I am starving. Chops left looks fantastic. Did u get lobster tonight? Prime rib? I think u are going to have to keep up with what yo eat where :)

I had the lobster. I was going to order both lobster and the prime rib but I decided not to lol. Chips was amazing and I'll be going back tonight!

Following and I would love your comparison of the two ships, especially if you were in a standard cabin and not the exclusive suites on the Getaway, .My DH and I are loyal to Royal and the Oasis class ship is our favorite of all of our cruises. but always looking for other fantastic ships and new ports-of call to try. We have now sailed on all three "sisters" and are booked for the Oasis of the Seas this up coming Thanksgiving. Enjoy your cruise, I can't wait for your review.

These rooms are bigger. Norwegians were tight. Now I was in a studio cabin but still I did a cabin crawl then too and they pack a lot of cabins on that boat which means little to no space. If you have a balcony on getaway it will add to the experience.

I've been looking at Norwegian again but I don't think you can beat these cabins!

That's from my balcony. As you can see it's fairly spacious for one person. Add a second it may get cozy but I wouldn't add a third.

  5. Since I'm doing my first solo cruise in April, I am really looking forward to your experience. Have a wonderful cruise [emoji2]

You know Cindy, as expensive as it is to cruise solo, this is a good ship to do it on. There are times you feel a bit lonely but if you're good at making friends then you'll be able to do things with them. I like to be alone a lot of times. I'm very socialable but can also be an introvert. I've quite enjoyed people watching from my balcony or reading my book with a cup of tea.

  6. You know, despite the fact that I'm younger compared to the majority of the ship, I am quite enjoying my time on this ship. I haven't done a lot of the on board activities for the simple fact that I needed the break to relax and recharge. That being said, there's many things to do if I wanted to participate in things like the casino or musical entertainment.

I will likely sail this class of ship again as it's not the party atmosphere that some ships are.
