I am not sure if the Steward will keep it "full of ice". With the cutbacks, they have also cut back on the number of room steards so that they have to service a larger number of rooms. It is my undderstanding that they will give you ice in you request it. However, if you have a large cooler, I am not sure that they have the time to fill it up with ice.
Yes they do and they will. We take a soft sided cooler every cruise and the wonderful stewards fill it up with ice every time....they keep the ice bucket that we ask for filled too. Who said anything about a large cooler?
I am getting so tired of people throwing out the "with all the cutbacks" comments. I received the same outstanding service on my last cruise in July as I did on my first cruise in 2005, probably even better. In fact, I get more benefits now for a cruise that is almost identical in price as it was in 2005.

Congrats! Nada here. We spend a fair amount of time and a fair amount of $$ in the casino too. I keep waiting for my special offer. I guess I really shouldn't hold my breath 'till then :p

Wow-- people leaving because of a drink coupon ? What if you found out your cruise was going to be $8.75pp less expensive ! You could spend that $8.75 anywhere on the ship.:D
No kidding, but I'm sure they would find fault with that too.

Some people like to take that grain of salt and turn it into a full blown salt mine.
Any thread that starts with "worst cruise ever", "I'm never cruising Carnival again", "more cutbacks" shows that the poster is over-dramatic. Ship happens and if you choose to always look at the glass half empty, you are always going to find the negative in everything. Life is too short to stress over the little things and turn them in to mega grievances.

do platinum people still get the drink coupon?
we had drink coupons last week on the Victory
Yes. platinum still gets it....plus the bottle of water.:)

Bottom line is, if you want to gurantee that your Staterooms are close together, DON'T BOOK GTY. OP got what she paid for and now she is upset with CCL. She brought her complaint here and is now upset with the responses she got because nobody agrees with her. Know what you are booking and make sure you understand the rules of it. And when you screw up, take responsibility for your mistake.

Thats it! I'm canceling our March 28th cruise and our Nov 29th cruise!!! How dare they take away my free drinks....................JUST KIDDING:D Come on March 28th!
:p:D:p

It's a 1 liter bottle of water per person - not the little ones we all keep in our fridges- which they normally sell for about $5.00. With everyone red & above getting them, it actually works out that everyone can use this perk. I loved the drink coupons, they were great, and I enjoyed my free Bloody Mary at brunch but I also don't mind paying for it and will do so. So many people complained that they were limited to getting the free drinks at certain times, etc that Carnival opted for something everyone could use. People that are upset over this change should be upset at the whiners that complained to CCL enough to implement this change. There were polls on FB & John Heald's blog months ago regarding this and believe it or not, the majority wanted the coupons gone and thought they were useless. You can't make everyone happy and if you are outraged enough at this change to jump ship, then don't let the gangway hit ya in the rear on the way out.

What ship were you on where there was no dancing? I have never been on a cruise where there was not dancing. There are dance clubs, deck parties, etc.

It's not worth the money, it's worth more (but don't tell CCL that) ;)
One of the best meals I've had...ever.
I agree with you. That meal for two people at a land based fine dining restaurant would be a few hundred. Easily.

Now were on the mark. I'm shopping tomorrow for another ring. Thank you very much.
You're very welcome. As an adoptee myself, I would like to thank you for adopting your DS. The bond between adoptees and adoptive parents is a special one. God bless and have a fabulous cruise. Post pictures when you get back! :)

All they will need to get back on is their sign & sail cards. You and DH will need photo ID and sign & sail. You don't need to take passports or birth certs off in port.

Like this. Thanks Also we will not be alone our 8 yo DS will be with us. He is our whole life , we adopted him at 2 years of age ,we still don't know if we saved him or he saved us ,probably the latter. So I wouldn't mind if he was part of the surprise. Thanks for all the input please keep them coming.
Awww, that's so sweet. Is there anyway you could possibly have a right hand ring with his birthstone for him to give her at the same time?

We always take a soft sided collapsible cooler in our luggage. The steward will keep it full of ice for you too.
-
Totally worth it. The food is amazing and wine free flowing.

Like others have suggested, get in contact with John Heald...he will help you out (:
Personally I would LOVE to be proposed to in public on my cruise. AND it's happening (shhh I'm not supposed to know). I'm sure he wouldn't do such a public proposal if he was worried she might dislike that or say no...I mean, he is taking it public and I'm sure he thought about all of that first.
I wish I could be on your sailing to see it!
Congrats!

How do you pack these for transport through the airport? Do they have to be in checked baggage or is carrying on okay?

Carry on is fine. Take some ziplock bags with you to put them in though.

Why don't you contact John Heald via his blog or FB page. He may be able to help you set something up or give you some ideas. At the very least, he will send you guys a bottle of champagne and choc covered strawberries.

Thanks for ALL your responses.
If we could get a FREE upgrade, that would be great. Yes we have been on Princess, and they have upgraded us there.
Does it make any difference if you book/pay for a room at least 2 months ahead of time, if it would be more of a chance to get an upgrade?
No, there really is no chance of getting a "free" upgrade no matter how far out you book. As you can see from the previous posts, the "free" upgrades were several years ago and they do not give them out anymore. You have a decent of getting an Upsell though.

Yes as long as there's not a live creature in it....not a pleasant smell when it starts to rot

According to goccl this info is wrong for. Each cabin requires it. Even minors only cabins.

Scroll down to the faq. This situation is specifically asked.

It also states "to receive the benefits".
Minor children are required to check in with their parents/guardians and will be able to board with them. They do not have a tender port and the kids would not use the guest service desk. So really, in this particular case there are no benefits in getting FTTF for the stateroom with the kids in it and one for the parents stateroom would suffice.

You may want to ask this in the St. Thomas section of the Ports of Call boards.
-
Add me to the list of people saying you got exactly what you requested. Nowhere does it state that linked bookings will be near each other when requesting guarantees.
I had the exact opposite problem. I was sailing in a group of 8 cabins. I originally had an inside, but I upgraded to a balcony guarantee. Another one of the cabins in our group later decided to do the same. When we got our assignments we were next to each other except I did not want to be next to them!
Lol, that would be my luck

You also need to look at itenaries. Port Canavaral departures tend to have better stops.

6 of you in 2 staterooms....such close proximity its no wonder you all got sick. I would bet money that one of you carried the virus on board and passed it amongst yourselves.
