  1. I really did try to find on website.

Current policy of taking on wine? must you carry it on? one per person? one per cabin? can you put in luggage?

And I tried to find where you can pre-purchase a bottle of liquor? only found info about purchasing beverage package!

We have always carried our 3 bottles of wine in our checked luggage since it's to heavy and large for our carry on bags & sometimes they charge us & sometimes not. It depends on the people scanning the bags I suppose.

  2. We agree with the OP. Many improvements were good, namely the beds were very nice and MUTS is now High Definition. This was our 13th TA and second on the Caribbean Princess so we know what to expect when coming out of dry dock.

We seldom eat in the MDR since Curtis Stone took over the menus so we only ate in the MDR once on this TA. It was not good. The Crown Grill was good but not great. The new Market Place buffet was a total failure in our opinion selection was very, very limited. So much space was dedicated to sandwiches that only one meat was offered.Badly prepared brisket most days with some form of chicken sometimes and also pork belly( at least that is what the tag said it was). Very few vegetables offered. Sadly, most days the lunch and dinner were exactly the same. One lady called the manager over and showed him her brisket. She beat it on the table and called it hard as a hockey puck. I ate hamburgers or pizza most of the time.

The lay out of the new Market Place buffet was open and looked nice, but much seating was eliminated. They installed to sinks on each end for washing hands......4 sinks for hundreds of people. Most just walked past them. There were no hand sanitizers available.

This was our 38th Princess cruise and our 3rd on the Caribbean so it is hard for me to be too critical of Princess. We will continue to sail Princess but never again will we go on the Caribbean Princess.

    Doug

We were on the Caribbean before the dry dock and it appears that it's become even worse. Although there's nothing that we though was terrible, we weren't all that impressed to draw us back on the ship similar to the Regal or Royal.

Unfortunately for Princess they're offering true 14 day trips but not for us based upon what we experienced in Feb.

  3. Obviously it must make sense to a lot of others but I just don't understand why.

    To each his own...

Don't you ever like to watch a movie before going to sleep at night? It's just so nice to have the ability to stop it when you want & pick it up at another time. While on the Royal class ships they offer a wide selection of movies but on the Emerald their selection is very much limited and you have to watch them at the time they broadcast them.

In the past on the Emerald & other older Princess ship I've seen bits & pieces of so many movies that I just gave up on watching them altogether.

As you say, to each his own.

  4. Where did I say anything about major changes? I'll give you a clue to help you out - I didn't.

Well who cares about the minor things - I'm referring to major items that are life affecting.

Answer- there aren't any. Nor have there been in many a year.

  5. And the only way that you'll find out if something has changed is if you go to the muster drill. Also, not everybody on a cruise has sailed before or has sailed on that line (every line probably has some procedural differences) and coming up with some way to sort out who has cruised before from who hasn't, etc. would be a nightmare for the crew. Is it repetitive? Yes. Is it important? Yes. For the frequent cruiser it's refresher training. For the new cruiser it's brand new. But for all on board, it's important, possibly life-saving, and worth the 30 minutes or so it's going to take.

    Tom

I really believe that if anything earthshaking took place between my cruises (8 or more yearly) I would be able to deal with it as long as I know the basics. Which I've heard many times over in my sailing career.

The muster talks are all directed towards people who have never cruised before and still don't know how to put on a life jacket or find their way around the ship.

  6. Between 2015 and 2016 the wording and information given in the announcements at muster drill changed. If you have not noticed then you probably weren't listening.

There was nothing that changed of great importance that would affect me in any way.

The only really important things are what muster station location to go to and how to put on a life jacket. All the rest most of us have heard many times over and can repeat it by heart.

btw- What were those major changes I missed out on?

  7. Not to take sides with anyone but with all this talk about muster rules I haven't heard anything new in years and even that was a warning about coffee pots. I can see why some folks try to avoid muster after hearing it so many times.

If you know where your muster station is located, what to bring with you and how to put on your life jacket, what else can you possible learn that would be life threatening?

  8. I have never been on a back to back cruise where the second muster drill was waived. We always had to attend and we have done btb on Princess, HAL, Ponant and Hapag Lloyd.

That's weird. Every time we do a b2b Princess tells us we don't have to attend the second (or third) muster. I guess they know we've got it down Pat by then. :halo:

  9. It isn't that simple! I saved over $2000 per person booking a 29 day Logical cruise rather than booking a 7 day and a 22 day individual cruises. Lost out on one $50 Loyalty Credit and FCC (x 2 passengers) and Shareholder Credit but saved over $4000 on cruise fare.

I can see in that case it wouldn't pay. I'll have to check all angles before booking.

    Thanks.

  10. Cruise length has no bearing on the Loyalty OBC. Cruise length is a factor for the military, shareholder, and future cruise credit benefits.

Thanks for the explanation. I'll make sure to book my cruises individually to get the maximum amount. ;)
