  1. At the front of the ship on deck 9 in line with about a half dozen other ships. There is a very nice breeze this morning keeping it cool. A lot of my fellow passengers are out and about already. Sunrise is 609 I'll probably park myself here till then and then pause for a coffee break.
  2. Good morning. Looks like we are still making our approach. Pilot is supposed to board at 530. Getting ready now and then heading out on deck. What I wouldn't give for the coffee shop to be open now.
  3. I'm going to bed a little early tonight. I have set my alarm for 5am so that I can be up for our entry into the Panama Canal. I don't remember the last time I set an alarm for that early 😴.
  4. Dinner menu on Lido and a few of the items they had on display before the buffet opened.
  5. For my starter I ordered the demo item the pastechi karni which is basically an empenada. It was very good. Next I ordered the jerk pork loin and the grilled salmon. Both were good. For dessert I got the babaloo cake which I also liked.
  6. Tonight's dinner menu. It has a couple new items that were showcased in a cooking demo earlier in the day.
  7. Off to dinner. No wait again tonight. Old menu tonight but with a couple different items tonight.
  8. And now we are caught up. I'm heading out now to have my caricature drawn.
  9. With the new shortened brunch hours it was closed when the lecture concluded so I made a buffet run. Carnivals buffet is not strong enough to support as many trips as I've taken there at this point. I made my own chibang style plate. Half Asian half Mexican. The Mexican was surprisingly good 👍 For dessert I had a piece of tiramisu cheesecake which was also very yummy.
  10. We're almost caught back up, not counting what I've not posted from the first internet outage. Today is our last full day in the pacific ocean. Tomorrow is our canal transit. We lost another hour last night and now we are just one hour behind eastern. First up today is the lecture on the Panama Canal. Very poor planning as it was help in the comedy lounge while the theater was used for a port shopping show. They are scheduling an extra show so others can see because the lounge was standing room only.
  11. Stewart is doing a great job. My mom stole my sheet because she was cold. Last night when he saw that he brought her an extra blanket I've never seen before without being asked. He's definitely going above and beyond.
  12. For my starters I ordered the jalapeño poppers and the venison spring roll. Both were good. For mains I ordered the chicken pot pie and the pork picatta. I didn't care for the pork dish but the pot pie was good. For dessert I had the amaretto cake.
  13. Last night's dinner menu is a new menu for me. I think we are about out of new ones, they didn't spread them out real well.
  14. I found out the festivities in Puntarenas yesterday were for us to celebrate us being the first ship of the season. The president of Costa Rica even showed up and came onboard. As far as I know he did not make a public appearance onboard but that is still pretty cool. Sunset as we were leaving Puntarenas. You could still hear the drums in the distance as we sailed away. A very nice experience and wonderful welcome from the Costa Rican people.
  15. The internet is being a pain again. It went down last night and is still very slow this am. Ironically it started having issues as I was purchasing wifi for some cruises before the price went up.
  16. All checked in for dinner. Under a 10 minute wait much better tonight. New menu to try out also.
  17. I went for some lunch while there was a break in the trivia. Lunch offerings. My plate Next trivia isn't until 3 so gonna run up to the gym for a bit of exercise.
  18. I'm here for trivia which was supposed to start one minute ago but there is nobody here to host. Hmmm 🤔
  19. Back on the ship after a nice day exploring Puntarenas. The weather was warm as you would expect without being too hot. There was lots of shopping to be had as soon as you got off the pier. Reasonable prices and not too many pushy vendors. I found a locally designed t-shirt for $12 that I'm happy with. There was also some sort of parade and festivities going on so the atmosphere was very festive. The beach right off the pier did not look very inviting but everything else in the immediate area was nice.
  20. Good morning. We are docked in Puntarenas and apparently the dock is level with the cabins on deck 1. I'm not sure who was more surprised to learn that, me when I opened my curtain in my underwear or the crew on the other side of my window 😅.
  21. My 33 day cruise is half way over. Going to bed. Up next, Puntarenas, Costa Rica.
