I’ll be taking a red eye into Miami for my oasis cruise. I will be landing very early in the AM cruise day. I will be solo. Any suggestions on what to do so I’m not sitting at the port for 3 hours waiting to board? I think my boarding time is 11 am.

I’ve noticed wear and tear on every cruise I’ve been on. I would say with the exception of some of Royal’s radiance class ships they do a pretty good job of keeping at least the common areas nice. In my opinion even the Voyager class still is very nice. Cabins are always a toss up. We have had worn down cabins on old ships and newer ones. That is just the luck of the draw. You can also do research on cabins before booking and then hope they stay in that condition for your cruise. I’ll be getting on Oasis next week for a B2B. I’ve watched a lot of videos and I’m not worried at all.

In my experiences previously the pool decks served drinks in hard plastic cups. Except that they are lighter than glass I’ve never noticed a difference. I agree about any kind of paper cups and straws. Both of those give off an odd flavor in my opinion. It is nasty when they start to get soggy. It is like ordering a timed bomb with your drink. Chugga chugga..

This isn’t true or at least wasn’t at the time since my sister status matched our entire household at the time including our parents. They only required that we have the same address which we did. No we didn’t deceive anyone. This was almost 20 years ago.

the policy to me reads that if the linked child continued to earn points from their parents after they turned 18 those would be revoked. I think I’ve never been impacted by this because I always saw it as more of a status match. They match to me and then promote to the next level once they have accumulated enough points on their own to do so. It hasn’t been an issue for us yet because we have always all cruised at Diamond (I status matched with my sister on my first cruise as we lived together at the time)

When testing the hot tubs on cruises what has been the result?

You have to keep the chemicals properly balanced or people can get sick. It has been what has stopped me from putting one in at home. I know that we are too lazy to keep up with it which means paying someone else monthly. 🙁

Wait until you hear about sea lice, sand fleas, and flesh eating bacteria. All risk of the ocean. I was joking last week that I’m over informed and it will now take a lot of Alcohol for me to get into any water while on my trip. to others point, these things are not new. Unfortunately you can’t unlearn them now. 🤣🤣 Recent reports of sand fleas and sea lice out of Routan. I think it was Maya Chen (or something like that)

Are you going to provide proof of marriage every time you board? How would suggest they vet that?

Seems easily doable. We will line up to disembark with our own bags and hop in a taxi. We just need to be at the airport around 9 for it to work.

We will get on something. Worst scenario we get a hotel and fly the next day. No big deal. I prefer this over booking an overpriced flight that leaves at 3 pm and gets me home at 9 at night. I’m not sure why folks always assume the worst is going to happen. We have made these early flights many times. It is worth the occasional miss.

If we don’t make the flight we will just get on another one. I hate sitting around the airport all day trying to get home. If I have a chance to be home by noon I’m going to take it. It usually works out just fine.

I heard a few reports about the miserable itches from folks that traveled mid-march. Is this a thing? Does bug spray and sea lice repellents help?

I don’t see why they would treat them differently.

Looks like they changed the C&A benefits a few weeks ago. The timing works.

I’m not sure that is why I asked. I personally don’t recall a 20% soda discount.

This all sounds like a mix-up to me. It isn’t logical. I can have my partner who is obviously over 18 grandfathered with my status. Is that just good for one cruise? Doesn’t make sense. They should have to accumulate their own points to advance but once grand fathered they shouldn’t lose status. That is how it has always worked.

Did these just change? I don’t recall some of these and I thought I looked a few months ago.

I always thought Carnival was very similar to Royal. I won’t sail on Carnival because of the drink limit. If Carnival suits your needs and you love the itinerary you should go for it. Considering it is referred to as a “budget cruise line”, I wouldn’t expect gourmet food. From what I’ve read you’ll always find something decent to eat. Just don’t expect 5 star. Happy cruising!

Haha… I have a 10 am flight out of FLL for a cruise from Miami. I feel good about it but anything can happen.
