  1. I recently did my first booking with a US TA then noticed a few weeks later that our cabin was the same price but now had the offer of OBC.

I e-mailed my agent & heard nothing. E-mailed a few days later just asking him to confirm he got my first e-mail, heard nothing. E-mailed his manager asking if he could respond instead, heard nothing. I phoned last night to see if he got my e-mails & he said he did. I asked about the OBC & he said it was for new bookings only. I told him surely I could just cancel & rebook. Eventually he agreed to look into it.

Hope you get a better service than I'm getting. I usually like to book direct, then I own the booking, but like others in the UK have been tempted by the US prices & terms. Think I'll book my next cruise with someone else.

If you are still outside final payment you can just cancel , get a refund, and find an agent who will be available when you need them...

  2. Suggest you go to RCCL main site Go to contact us. Send e-mail. The topic is existing reservation" Address your e-mail to Richard Fain CEO and Alan Goldberg President. They will never read your post However, the senior Customer Service people will and eventually RCCL will address this matter. Despite people's be patient, Dynamic Dining is a disaster that needs to be addressed now not in the future. The concept may make sense as two seatings was getting stale, however, the execution/roll-out has been a miserable failure for the clients of RCCL.

The more people take pro-active action the quicker RCCL will act. Hopefully, posts/threads similar to this will start the ball rolling

Do you mean Adam Goldstein? I have never heard of Alan Goldberg....:)

  3. All I want to do is book an excursion and a drink package and so far I have had no luck!

It's funny they don't have a problem accepting your final payment, but cannot help with anything else.

    I am beyond aggravated!!!

Yes, that's why they have a menu on the phone - if you want to purchase a cruise- bingo- you get straight through, but if you want to talk about anything else, take a ticket take a seat, it's gonna be a while..:(

  4. It has always been a mess. I've been hoping for years they would hire someone from Amazon who could show them how to run a business....

You can select and purchase a basket full of goods from Amazon in no time, but try to select or book a cruise from Royal Caribbean, and it's an exercise in frustration ... Select April 2014, what comes up is November and December. Choose the price listed, select a room, price has now changed....

  5. They could have been right there and not realize the child was drowning. Read th link posted by Katydyd.

The real question is why there are not lifeguards. Disney Cruise lines put lifeguards on their ships. All the cruise lines should follow suit.

I agree. We can't go to our local pools without there being several lifeguards on duty...

  6. The definition of Drown is to kill by submerging and suffocating in water or another liquid. The article indicates that the child is fighting for his life and is in graved condition indicating the individual is still alive.

This is truly an unfortunate occurrence. My heart and prayers go out to the family but please don't make the matter worse by your unfortunate word choice.

When he was taken from the bottom of the pool he had no cardiac or respiratory activity , he was clearly in extremis- but it sounds they have been able to restore some circulation, and resuscitate him to where he is now 'gravely' ill.... which is not much, but better than when they found him.

If you object to the word drown, what do you think happened to him ?

  7. We have been upgraded three times, each time I found out about it at the pier... I always book insides, and have been upgraded to Superior Ocean View, Promenade room and a midships Balcony.... :)

The only problem with that is, my luggage is marked for my original room and it takes a long time to get it moved to the upgraded room...

  8. I hope this works out for you

my husband's ex is an absentee mother, we were able to track her down and get her signature for a cruise we took last Thanksgiving (she didn't want to sign because, as she put it "I've lived my whole life without going on a cruise, they can, too") but she's since had another child and moved to another state. We are cruising again in 10 months, we have 10 months to track her down!

I will say, though, that no one asked us for the form last time and my last name is not the same as my husband and children. But, I understand not wanting to take a risk!

You don't need her permission if your husband is traveling with you. Only if no parent is there... http://www.royalcaribbean.com/customersupport/faq/details.do?pagename=frequently_asked_questions&pnav=5&pnav=2&faqType=faq&faqSubjectId=322&faqSubjectName=Before+You+Purchase+&faqId=2702

  9. Thanks, I've heard about that as well which is what started me looking after I heard about this offer. I have found a couple of TA's in the US who I could book through but both charge $100 for cancellations, which is fine because we'd still get our deposit back unlike in the UK BUT if you book a promotion that you're not eligible for then they will amend the cost to the full price so there really wouldn't be any point in trying to get this offer, we'd just be $100 out of pocket.

Thanks for the explanation :). What do you mean by "if anything goes wrong (even if its not the cruiseline's fault)"? We read threads on here all the time about missed ports or problems on the ship and the passengers receive compensation from RCI in one form or another. I'd love somebody to tell me what this special protection is! I've looked all of this up and it seems to me that the financial risks would be covered by my travel insurance and/or my credit card company.

I wouldn't use anyone who asks for a $100 cancellation fee.. one click of the mouse isn't worth that!

  10. I had a similar experience with Crown & Anchor yesterday  except I had no trouble with the accent, in fact the people I spoke to both seemed to have American accents but they were no more helpful.

My question was around the BOGO 50% offer currently available in the US. I had contacted a TA in the US and asked if we were eligible for the offer if we booked through them - the answer was no, it's only open to US & Canadian residents. The reason we are always given for not having the great deals available in the US is that UK cruisers have "extra protection" when they book in the UK - obviously this begs the question if I am willing to miss out on the "extra protection" and book with an American TA why can't I do this and take advantage of the offers? I phoned Crown & Anchor to ask that question and was told that they can't access the Terms & Conditions for US bookings!!! I was then told that some TA's in the UK use the American booking system and I could book it through them.............but they couldn't tell me which TA's they were, they suggested that I google "travel agents in the UK using RCLL American booking system" - yes, they really did suggest that! I then spoke to a supervisor who gave exactly the same responses and who proudly told me that the Google suggestion had been his  All in all it wasn't a great experience. This leaves me with another question - do I really want to pay RCI for a cruise when I know that the same cruise is available in the US & Canada for £800 less?

Sorry for the rant! I don't begrudge anybody a great deal - but surely we should all be treated the same?

    Gill

I can't post the name of it but maybe if you visited a British Cruise enthusiast site you would find several members who use a US agent all the time with no problem... :)

  11. I'm a bit confused as to who the OP called. But if the price drop was prior to final payment then it should have been no big deal. Of course if the OP lives in Guatemala, then I don't know. But to be honest, that's the risk you run in booking early. The risk you run in booking late is less desirable cabin location, possible price hikes, etc.

When someone buys a car and 4 months later the priced drops due to end of year sales does a the dealer refund money? No. Same with every other product. If you want the sale price you wait for the sale. If the sale never comes you're out of luck.

The only reason you get a price drop prior to final payment is because the cruise is fully refundable up to that day (in the U.S. that is). So you can cancel and rebook. But after final payment the refundable portion dwindles as the cruise approaches. So why should someone get OBC just for booking early?

Sorry, just my opinion. If I book a cabin I want and take it out of inventory for 6He isc months, why does the cruise line suddenly "owe me" because the offer last minute discounts? Should I have to pay more if the price goes up?

He is calling from Southport, in England. Customer service for the UK was

outsourced to Guatemala a few months ago, hence the difficulty with that

customer service agent's accent.... maybe they have been taught English with an American accent, makes it confusing for someone who speaks English English.

  12. I find it hard to believe that a person goes on a vacation and has no idea what to pack. I agree that it is a common sense issue. If you don’t know and don’t know how to research it, call the travel agent, cruise line or even family/friends who have taken a similar trip. Can you imagine being on a European trip ( land or sea) and being denied entrance to churches or other sites because of inappropriate dress. ( shorts, too short skirt bare shoulders) an claiming ignorance?

As for a tie, you can pick one up at the $10 store on the ship.

    M

Exactly! Even if I had not read one item about cruising, when I took a look at the elegant dining room, the dress code would be obvious to me.. Some people expect to be spoon fed information.
