Have you tried http://www.ridesas.com - a lot of cruisers use them.
-
Try Pancho's backyard.
Good food and a nice atmosphere.
It is right downtown by Los Cinco Soles shops. Unless your girls look very young, they won't have any trouble buying drinks in Cozumel.. :)
-
Instead of leaving your luggage outside your room for them to take down, just hang onto it. Self-assist will be the first to be called in the am... just get an
elevator :) and head down to the gangway...
-
The nets are usually over the pools as people are boarding- they clean them on changeover days IIRC. They will have at least one open later, don't panic....,
-
If you pay your cruise in full at the time of booking, ( 7 nights on Liberty) do you get it all back if you cancel before final payment would have been due ?

Patti Honacki's FB page says she will be in Alaska for the summer...

We took a taxi over to Emerald Beach from Crown Point - he dropped us in the wrong place, ( the girl on the desk at this resort said he was a friend) and then we walked a couple of minutes up the beach to Emerald Beach Best Western. We had a lovely day there, ate at the beach bar, used the pool and all their facilities, watched a wedding on the beach, so it was good! :)

Do Carnival ships dock at Crown Point or Havensight on St Thomas?
-
Try http://www.rideSAS.com shuttle, he has vans...:)

From the pier you will catch the water taxi over to Phillipsburg- then there will be dozens of taxis lined up. To go to Orient Beach should cost $7-8 per persons, some of the cabs are minivans and they will want to get more than just yourself onboard before they leave. If want to go alone, then it'll probably cost $25. You can also get a taxi to take you over to Maho Beach ( is that what you are calling Habo?) to watch the planes come in, but it's quite a way from Orient Beach, right over on the opposite side of the island. There is a good café there, the Sunset Beach Bar ( you tube has good videos of this place) you could get a late lunch there and then get a taxi back. Not sure what they would charge from Orient Beach over to Maho, but when we left Maho beach to go back to the ship he charged us $23.
Have a look at a good map of St Maarten and you might revise your plan.
Maybe to Orient Beach and then into Marigot for lunch/window shopping might
be more practical.

For three people it makes economical sense to rent a car.
That is assuming that you are comfortable driving. It is a pretty straight shot.
He said in his question he doesn't want to drive....

Your cruise line will have shuttle buses running at the end of the cruise, just buy tickets at guest services. Taxis are available, that will cost around $110 or google search for a bus service like cocobeachshuttle . If you go to the
Florida Departures Board on this site, there will be other suggestions...:)

Why not skip the Promenade room and book an inside, save even more money. You're not going to spend much time in it... you're really not
comparing prices of the same grade cabin..

The mall comparison is apples and oranges. At the mall you have a set number of tables amongst the restaurants, but an unknown, and thus somewhat unlimited, number of people who may choose to eat there on a given night. On a ship, you have the same exact number of people onboard every night. They didn't ask me to design their new restaurants but I'm pretty sure they know they need to have a number of seats that is comparable to the old MDR.
As for making decisions ahead of time, on our last cruise we had exactly 2 reservations booked prior to boarding. And yet somehow, we managed to make decisions on a daily basis as to where to eat AND get tables with little to no waiting. Honestly, I think some of you people are just looking for problems. If you've already convinced yourselves that dynamic dining will be a horrible disaster, THEN DON'T GO ON THE QUANTUM OR ANTHEM. There are hundreds of other cruise ships out there with MDR's for you. At least for the time being. :D
Have you seen the Windjammer on Allure? First glance tells you it's way too small for the number of passengers, I've never seen one so congested, with waits for tables- I just hope the same person who designed that isn't involved with the Dynamic Dining......
-
I'll reserve judgment until I see reviews from the first few cruises, to see how well the reservations work, how often people are not able to get the restaurant of their choice......;)
-
It's not very freestyle if you have to make reservations though....
What happens to all the people who are not computer users and don't book ahead?
-
Do you have to make a reservation for every dining venue? How many incur a charge now? Sounds like they are going to have NCL style dining now...
-
All the changes have already been leaked. :) Google search - it's all there...
-
Count me in too - wouldn't it be great not to have to drive or fly to Florida.
Mobile is open, CVL doesn't sail from there anymore...

I thought the enhanced drivers licence only worked when crossing a land border.

It allows you to go to Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda.

The Asian tiger mosquito, which I believe is a vector, is a day biter. I've been bitten at mid-day in Ohio.
The risk depends on the interaction between 3 factors: the disease agent, the host, and the carrier.
The disease agent is a virus which seems capable of fairly quick mutation, which is bad. That means it can adapt to control efforts.
The disease is hosted, as far as I know, by primates. The more susceptible primates in an area, the worse, because preventive measures effective in humans cannot be applied to wild animals. Fortunately the US and many areas of the Caribbean are not stocked with wild primates.
The carriers, unfortunately, are widespread, adaptable and aggressive mosquitos. Control measures are going to be capitol- and/or labor intensive. (Fogging is basically a PR measure to convince taxpayers the authorities are "doing something").
Risk for a casual visitor is probably pretty low right now, but more than zero. Mosquitos are short-lived, so there is a limited window when the mosquito can bite an infected human and then you. If you are a long-term visitor the odds go up, and for a resident they go up higher.
Thanks- I didn't know that..

I thought RCCL had replaced all the old beds with the comfort top mattresses?
I usually look forward to sleeping well on a cruise, I wake up in the same position I went to sleep - they are that comfortable..:)
-
From Phillipsburg over to Orient Beach a taxi cost us $6 per person. There are so many casual beach bars and cafes, each one offering chair/umbrella/drink for a few dollars each. Definitely not worth purchasing an excursion from the ship unless you are very hesitant to go out on your own...
-
St Martin is a relatively small place, you can get a taxi to the most popular places, including Orient Beach for $6 or $7 per person.
Food on RC...vs. Carnival
in Royal Caribbean International
Posted
I found the DR food on Carnival much better than the DR food on Royal Caribbean, but their buffet restaurant was horrible - Windjammer beats them hands down. :)
