  1. My goodness! Where did I get the idea that I could use the Viking transfer only if I were using their air? Did you make this arrangement when you booked the cruise, or did you do this once you were on the ship? All details are greatly appreciated! Thank you ~
  2. Hello~ Can anyone recommend a Bergen car service for an early morning trip from the ship to the Bergen airport? I will disembark the Venus the morning of Tuesday, March 12, 2024. I won't be using Viking Air, therefore will not go on their shuttle bus. Also, I am not physically able to walk with baggage to Bergen public transportation. I've heard that there isn't anything like Uber in Bergen. Thank you very much~~ Leslie Ann
  3. Do we know how much taller the Icon will be than any other ship? Remember that this area is tidal. Back in the day, the QE2 had to take the tides into consideration when scheduling when she could sail under the Verrazano Bridge. She drew roughly 32 feet - same as the Icon, but how much above freeboard is the Icon over the QE2?
  4. I am so sad to hear that private messaging is not possible. I have a cruise to Norway booked for ten months from now. On the roll call for the cruise, there is a post from a couple from my home town! I would love to contact them to get their advice on air travel from Chapel Hill, NC to Norway, but CC doesn't allow me to message them. 😭
  5. OP is wondering about this from the point of view of someone who has worked for a living and is currently working. There are folks who are monied, who do not work, but who have extended families who fit better in these accommodations on RCI than on Seabourn. There are folks who are retired and have money to spend this way. There are folks who have inherited money. There are folks who want to splurge in order to entice the entire family to go on an unusual family gathering. There are circumstances talked of in all the other threads here. Years ago, my husband's family stayed in the then-prestigious Presidential Suite* on Freedom of the Seas 6414. He had talked his parents into taking the family on a 7-night cruise on the brandy-new Freedom of the Seas. Parents spent a ton on money on this suite/trip for the family. It had its perks. The Captain and some officers spent some time in the afternoon with the family out on the aft deck. Ultimately, though, only my husband thought that this cruise was a special family trip. We made no converts to the joys of cruising. Nowadays, I am without my husband or his parents, and I enjoy cruising alone in modest accommodations. 😊

  9. What are the downsides for longer-term passengers if there is a changeover at certain ports of call?
  10. Thank you. This is useful, specific information 💖
  11. Dear Kuddles, Our vacation time is precious to us, so for that reason alone I urge you to go for the 6-nighter. Over your lifetime you will have opportunities to go to various ports of call and sail on various ships. However, right now you need to make a choice, so please choose the most restorative cruise vacation--the longer one. With love, Lana
  12. Ship – Brilliance of the Seas Sail dates January of 2023 Deck - 7 Stateroom # - 7540 Stateroom Category Starboard - Forward Quiet Stateroom? Only one night I faintly heard singing from the show in the theater below. Otherwise room is very quiet; hallway was quiet, even though room is conveniently close to forward elevators and stairs. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View – Unobstructed, 2 chairs + tall table. You can look straight down to the water and see and hear the waves breaking when under way. Heavenly! Balcony Size? - balconies on 7 forward are deeper than standard balconies, which is why I book these rooms. Was wind a problem? - No Any specific problems with this cabin? - Yes; very sadly, sink in bathroom has strange ugly cracking. Any other comments? – Bed in room faces forward. In other words, when you lie in bed, your toes are towards the bridge, and your head is aft.
  13. I first tried acupuncture on the Explorer many years ago. I had chronic pain in one spot on one side of my upper back. I was shocked that one session did indeed fix the problem that had hounded me for years - which traditional doctors could not alleviate. It was amazing.
  14. Oh my! Thank you very much for digging up this thread. 🙏🏻 And many thanks to all of you for your advice regarding Barcelona or Rome. 💐
  15. As best I've experienced, as someone who lives on West 49th Street in Manhattan, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity always sails out of New Jersey; Norwegian always sails out of Manhattan west midtown; however, Carnival has sailed out of both Manhattan or Brooklyn over the years. Cunard and Princess have sailed from Brooklyn. It is interesting that MSC sails out of Brooklyn, but I am not surprised.
  16. Hello everybody~~ I am very anxious to see what the Oasis Eastbound 2024 TA will be. In the meantime, I was looking at her 2024 Med itinerary, and it seems that one can board either in Barcelona or Rome. So putting the transatlantic aside for a moment, if you had to choose which city to embark from, would you choose Barcelona or Rome, with the main factor being ease from the airport to a hotel to the pier, if I decide to fly both ways rather than doing a TA. Please forgive me if this question should be asked in another forum, but I couldn't figure out a better place than here. There is a lot of experience available on this thread. Thank you 🙏🏻
  17. Hi Everybody 👋🏻 Will Venezia be sailing from the piers midtown Manhattan on the Hudson? I hope so.
  18. The Odyssey doesn't have an indoor pool? Why was I thinking that there was a pool in the Solarium? Please elaborate - I would really appreciate more info. Thank you very much!
  19. Lately I've been booking for the ship: I love the Radiance class, and I want to sail on them as much as possible before they are retired. I love the helipad access, the Windjammer outdoor seating, the unique, pretty Solariums, and the forward Deck 7 balcony stateroom balconies.
