  1. Depends on the PI in my experience. Premier Inn Holyhead last year had a fantastic breakfast. Llantrisant a few weeks ago - again brilliant and well worth the price. Rhyl a fortnight ago - limited, cold and a bit disappointing. Anything’s better than a McD brekkie in my husband’s opinion anyway!
  2. Tammy Wynette was appearing in Swansea about 30 years ago and by the time I got through they only had obstructed view tickets left. As it was a midweek performance and a good 3 hr journey back home with work the following day, I gave it a miss. When you’re in your 20s you think that there will be plenty of other opportunities. Alas, no.
  3. Good to know, It’s Princess that I’m looking at actually!
  4. Which is fair enough I suppose. But do they compensate the customer when they cancel at short notice as some have reported?
  5. I would agree most of the time but I have to say that one of our most enjoyable cruises was on Marco Polo in a twin, low down with a porthole! Our only cruise without a balcony but great fun. However, I think we only had 2 sea days so we were kept busy.
  6. That’s good, gives you a bit more breathing space! I’m suddenly interested as I might be cruising soon!
  7. I’ve just realised that you sailed RCI!
  8. How did you manage to get the test done before leaving home if you had a 2 night pre cruise stay?
  9. Regarding differences between adult only/family friendly. Even Ventura, which is a family ship, can feel very different depending on when you travel. 35 nights in January, we only saw one child, but 7 nights in August and the ship was packed with children having fun. For us, the ship is never the first consideration, but rather the date, price and itinerary!
  10. I think your wives are missing a trick. I let my husband do anything and everything. Makes my life easier!
  11. I bow to your superior knowledge. However my three children, graduates from 2017, 2019 and 2020 inform me that all their fellow students always used laptops in lectures. I have also been a tutor recently and found it most useful for students to have a laptop handy. Not solely for typing, but for instant research. Made the sessions far more interesting and lively, not just listening passively. Enabled interesting discussions.
  12. The app is clearly working for you which is great - as long as they don’t expect everyone to be able to use it! An uncle of mine recently had a knee replacement, no issue with the op. But the physio has been terrible. Just a telephone consultation which was difficult as he’s hard of hearing. The physio asked him to set up a system similar to Facetime which my uncle was unable to do, having no smart phone or reliable mobile signal. So basically no aftercare and really giving vague reasons when my cousin phoned to beg for something better.
  13. Students require laptops - they’re used now in lectures and very few desktops are provided in university libraries etc. Many schools also have a ‘bring your own device’ policy to supplement the devices provided in school. Seriously though, laptops are now so light and mobile. I bet some people’s make-up bags, lunch boxes, water bottles and gym kits weigh more than laptops. I really don’t see what the issue is. Granted in the past, they were heavier.
  14. I agree that the employer could easily provide shared computers. My point is that laptops these days are light and small. Students and pupils carry them around without difficulty and I can imagine the ‘snowflake’ comments bandied around if they started complaining about carrying laptops.
  15. To be fair, laptops are getting smaller and lighter all the time. I think back to the first one I had and it was quite cumbersome.
  16. My middle daughter is a teacher and brings her laptop home every night - she’s stuck to it until about 9 every night doing her prep. She also brings home at least one bag full of of books to mark every night. The other two are now back working in their offices 2/3 days a week and again have to transport their laptops and some paperwork/files. It’s not unreasonable.
  17. I’ve never felt the urge to watch the same show twice on the same cruise. Mind you, I’ve seen some of the shows several times - on different cruises.
  18. Me too. We only found the theatre full once, first show, and so returned for the second show. I think that was on Britannia.
