  1. Pingpong1, I had a similar adventure with trying to make dining reservations for 6 people (3 couples). We thought we had it because we got email confirmations but things didn’t look right or feel right in our online account. The next morning I asked our TA to validate our reservations and lo and behold they were all messed up and we didn’t have any of the 3 reservations correctly. Our TA & Regent got things straightened out but we didn’t get all of our dates and times we thought we selected the night before. It might be worth a call to your TA or directly to Regent to see what is really in the reservation system. The official explanation we received from Regent was that the system can be quirky at times.
  2. Briton, I looked at doing that but Sapphire only covers out of pocket cost for the trip itself. They do not cover emergency evacuation, out of the US hospital cost, etc. I did a combo of Sapphire and trip insurance from Steve.
  3. Just finished the Regent pre cruise check in. Must mean that we are getting closer to our cruise. This verbiage shows up after finishing: “Once all steps are complete, you will receive a Boarding Pass which must be presented at the embarkation terminal, along with valid Proof of Vaccination, Passport and all Required Visas, if any, for each guest.” My question has to do with a valid proof of vaccination. Is that still a requirement? And if so, does that mean that one has to be up to date on all COVID boosters? Or does this apply to specific country requirements for other vaccinations?
  4. Got my answer. Well, I read the full details of the shuttle “tour” on Regent and it does say: To visit some of the charming towns and picturesque locales we love, we sometimes need to dock or anchor a short distance away, requiring ground transportation to reach our desired destination. In these instances, we are delighted to offer complimentary shuttles as part of your all-inclusive experience. The complimentary shuttles run on regular schedules, which may vary with each port of call. If you need any additional information than what is provided during your cruise, please contact us at the onboard Destination Services Desk.
  5. Regent shows shuttles into town as a tour on their list of available tours for a port. Does this mean that you have to sign up for that “tour” in order to use a Regent shuttle to and from the dock? Or are there other shuttles that go back and forth from the ship to the town on some regular basis? Our plan on a couple of the ports is to use a Regent tour, then stay in town on our own, and then shuttle back to the ship. If not, then we will take a cab if necessary. Just curious on the shuttles.
  6. Our stop in Edinburgh on Splendor in September says that we will tender in Newhaven. Do all Regent ships go to Leith instead?
  7. Thank you for your reports. I don’t think anyone who is coughing and hacking will admit it to be COVID. I would assume it is and take precautions. I am hearing about a lot mor COVID cases on cruises recently including multiple people that I know personally. Fortunately, the cases don’t seem to be severe and calm down in 5-7 days.
  8. Thank you for the information. There are 3 couples (6 people) traveling together and for many of the ports we chose the same tour. What are the chances we will be put on separate buses? If that happens, is there anything we can do before the tour to see if we can all travel on the same bus or small group vehicle?
  9. I understand that we are to pick up our excursion tickets on the morning of the tour. How early can you pick up your tour tickets before the actual tour start time? Can you pick up the tickets for you and your spouse or for other couples you are traveling with or does everyone on the tour need to be there in person?
  10. I remember being at work and they brought in this small computer and said it was going to change everything. We looked at each other over our green screen mainframe computers and said, what are we ever going to use this PC thing for? And now the iPhone in my pocket has more computing power than our big mainframe did back in the early 70’s.
  11. Opportunities to automate tasks such as this will improve customer service and provide cost savings to Regent. It’s a win for everyone.
  12. Very fast. You will probably have to be flexible with when you dine but you are likely to get later times.
  13. I know it’s only 1 case on REGENT but I am starting to hear more about people testing positive for COVID on various cruise lines. We have 2 family members that contracted COVID on a Viking river cruise just a week ago.
  14. The real proof of a good policy and the company behind it, is when you have to make a claim. Fortunately I haven’t had to do that for travel insurance. I have put in claims for auto and home issues before and I have experienced both great service and poor service. Maybe some folks on this discussion board can chime in with their experiences both good and bad, and we can all learn from them.
  15. This is the first time that I purchased travel insurance and I did so because the cruise I am on with Regent is very expensive. I shopped around and finally wound up with the combination of my credit card travel coverage and IMG through Steve’s company. Steve seems to cater to cruisers and he and his team are very knowledgeable and take the time to explain your options and recommend one based on the information you provide. I also checked the IMG website to compare what the cost was and it was the same so Steve wasn’t marking up the price.
  16. Fair enough Babr. I will say that Steve’s associate did discuss the pre existing conditions options and alerted me to the credit card limitations of coverage.
  17. I second what Babr is recommending. Steve and his team were very helpful for identifying what was best for my situation. They offer several options, all researched and approved by Steve. It can be a daunting task to figure out the differences in policies but they made it easy to pick after a brief conversation. I have some trip insurance included with my credit card. Steve was able to tell me about the gaps in that coverage and he came up with a plan to leverage that credit card coverage and fill in the gaps, such as emergency evacuation, so that I had the coverage I needed. I saved a lot of out of pocket cash for comprehensive travel insurance. Regent insurance was much more expensive than any comparative commercially available option.
  18. Most definitely make your reservations ASAP. We made ours as a concierge cabin (early reservations) and by the next day, the only times left were after 8:30 PM. We prefer to dine earlier.
  19. No tie, no jacket for me. Just a nice pair of pants and a collared shirt in the evening.
  20. I am just asking a question. I don’t think it’s fair to immediately assume that I am making a big issue out of it. Most people just provide an answer to a question, like rcandkc did, without passing judgement about the poster’s response. And if you look at Gilly’s post, they have already missed 2 ports because of weather. It happens and I understand it happens for a variety of reasons. I was just asking what happens to the OBC’s used for excursions in the event that the tour doesn’t happen.
  21. Papa, we are using shipboard credits to “pay” for our small group excursions. These are from Regent and are non refundable but I assume if a Regent excursion is cancelled we would get those non refundable credits back to our shipboard account to be used for some other service like the SPA or pay for upgraded wine.
  22. There are 2 different types of onboard credits. The one’s you get from Regent as part of the cruise are non refundable. They are use it or lose it. Some TA credits are non refundable, some are not. We have a mix of credits, both non refundable and refundable from our TA.
  23. That’s good but how quickly? They are use it or lose it credits so they need to be refunded quickly.
