  1. But don't the gratuities disappear from the All Included fares associated with both the Aqua and Suite cabins? In fact from my understanding, the mandated All Included inclusion on Aqua cabins also disappears all together. Correct?
  2. With the lack of an actual butler assigned, it will be interesting to see what the sky suite daily gratuity charge will be when compared to an Aqua cabin after October 4.
  3. I'm not sure we'll be there, but you may want to introduce yourself over on the Roll Call thread and let them know you're coming. Revised/Separated October 19 to October 31 CB New England Roll Call - Caribbean Princess Roll Calls - Cruise Critic Community
  4. I think there is more to it, especially with regards to the air pressure along with airflow within different sections of the ship, especially when its moving. Ever notice when you're walking down the hall when the ship is moving and hear a whistling sound from under someone's door that has their balcony door open? IMHO there can be no "whistling" when the balcony shutter doors are closed and the AC is allowed to stay on. That would be key. But then I'm just over here in the peanut gallery trying to figure out a way to give us folks who like to sit on the balcony feeling the elements while my DW likes to sit in the cabin playing computer games during our downtimes with the AC on while say cruising around in the Caribbean.
  5. Just curious, but would it be technically possible for the IV folding doors be redesigned to make them more air flow resistant when closed to allow the cabin AC to remain on when the sliding window is open while the doors are close?
  6. To give you an example of how you can use CruiseMapper and Windy together, I don't think the folks on the Emerald Princess right now are going to have clear skies and calm seas on their cruise that left NYC yesterday unless the weather drastically changes really quick.
  7. Thanks for the heads up! Just thought I'd post some information about this museum on Pier 21 as a reminder of something to check out after we finish our excursion in Halifax. Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 - Wikipedia
  8. My DW and I were going for our daily walk today and as usual talking about cruising when she saw this cute little Southern Sickle Bush-Cricket in the middle of our driveway, and thought I'd post it on the thread as a prelude of what's yet to come. For those who have not followed along on some of my more recent Live From threads, you might see some photos of some cute little creatures we might come across while out and about on an excursion. 😊
  9. We had one booked where we first did a 14-day Norway cruise out of Southampton on the Celebrity Apex and when we disembarked, we walked over and boarded the Sky Princess for a 14-day Baltic cruise.
  10. Here are the excursions we pre-booked for the Quebec to Fort Lauderdale portion of the cruise. I've included the prices in case anyone was interested.
  11. We're doing a B3B on the Getaway starting the end of October 2024 visiting the pyramids in Egypt, the ancient ruins in Greece and Turkey, and then heading to Venice before winding up in Rome. Then in late May 2025 we're going on a B2B on the Star out of Reykjavik, Iceland where we stop at Longyearbyen on each leg.
  12. That's good to hear. When was your recent cruise and what ship was it? We were on the Eclipse in an Aqua cabin for 33-days on a B2B2B transpacific cruise from Sydney to Vancouver this past April/May and received none of those. However, there was one person that posted to my Live From thread that was on the second and third legs on that same cruise who received a bottle of bubby at the start of the second leg. The only difference was they changed cabins on transition day in Hawaii and their new steward brought them a bottle. My assumption was that they tipped their first steward quite handsomely who subsequently passed the word onto their next steward to treat them nicely as they are good tippers. But, of course, this is just a guess.
  13. Welcome aboard. Thanks for the invite, but unfortunately time will be pretty scarce on the pre-cruise family excursion adventure. Maybe sometime on another cruise we can meet up for a beer.
  14. I saw your post on the RC. So sorry to hear that and hopefully your issues will be resolved quickly. I'll try my best to post a variety of pictures so you can get excited about possibly going next year.
  15. Just thought I'd add some website links I'll probably use quite often while on the cruise. 1. My two favorite Northern Lights links. The first one provides a 30-minute forecast, and the second one provides a 3-day forecast: Aurora - 30 Minute Forecast | NOAA / NWS Space Weather Prediction Center Aurora Forecast - See Northern Lights Today 2. My favorite weather forecasting website regardless of where we're at in the world. There is also an app, but I simply use website information.: https://www.windy.com/ 3. The current location of the Caribbean Princess: CARIBBEAN PRINCESS Current Location (cruisemapper.com) 4. Ookla Internet Speed Test Speedtest by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test
  16. If you look in my expanded signature area below, you will find various Live From threads of the Princess cruises (among others) we've been on since cruising started back up. If you just look at the pictures, you should see some of the things we did while on the ship, both in the evening and on sea days. In short, we never lacked for things to do.
  17. Lee must have been quite the storm with plenty of wave action to deal with on your cruise! Hopefully, we'll be cruising in much smoother waters. Thanks for the heads up! We're in a suite and usually get to the Reserve dining room when it first opens, so we can hopefully get to the theater with our deck of cards in hand 20-30 minutes before the show. Hopefully, our strategy will continue to work on this cruise.
  18. That cruise on the Edge I'm sure is going to be an awesome one!! Hope your friends see a bunch of Northen Lights on their cruise and avoid dealing with any aftermath from any potential weather developing in the Atlantic as some recent cruises in that area have had to deal with lately.
  19. For those interested in following my next Live From thread I just started regarding our upcoming Canadian/Atlantic coast landcruise on the Caribbean Princess, here's the link.
  20. For those interested, I just started a new Live From thread on the Princess Forum which will cover our upcoming 22-day Land and Sea cruise on the Caribbean Princess from Toronto to Ft Lauderdale.

  22. Hi all! I know it's a little early, but I can't help but start getting excited about our upcoming 22-day Princess adventure which begins October 14 flying to Toronto for a 5-day land excursion, to include seeing the Niagara Falls, before boarding the Caribbean Princess in Quebec for a 12-day cruise to Ft Lauderdale. We are also booked on the ensuing 5-day Caribbean cruise RT out of Ft Lauderdale which will finally get us to Elite. Yay!! As one might imagine, we'll be watching for any potential hurricanes and/or tropical storms forming in the Atlantic which will hopefully either disappear or become irrelevant once we start cruising down the Atlantic coast. On the brighter side the Northern Lights are expected to be stronger than they have been for at least a decade over the next few months, which hopefully means we will have a good chance to see them when we're cruising up the St. Lawence River or maybe as we make the turn and start to head south once we reach the Atlantic. My plan for this Live From thread is to share some of our experiences while on this adventure, with the usual one exception. As with my other Live From threads, I have no plans to post any pictures of food or drinks. Sorry. But if you would enjoy seeing photos of the various wildlife and other attractions we’ll see along the way, please come along and I'll try my best to make it interesting. Of course, if you have any questions about the itinerary or the ship, please feel free to ask and will try my best to find the answers. Our 5-day land excursion portion of the cruise. Our 12-day cruise from Quebec to Ft Lauderdale Our 5-day Caribbean cruise RT out of Ft Lauderdale
  23. Thanks! We're in a Club Balcony on all 3 legs but will definitely make sure our TA is aware of that issue. 🙂 Update: I just checked and the CruiseNext promotion still includes our 3 bookings. 👍
  24. This statement caught my eye. When we were on our Jade B2B and booked these 3 Oct/Nov 2024 cruises onboard in early December 2022, we only applied 2 CruiseNext certificates valued at $125 each, 1 for each of us, to each booking. Since the certificates are valid for 4 years, I’m guessing your example doesn’t apply in our situations, correct? Here’s what it says in the CruiseNext T&C, or am I missing something? All CNDs (including Haven option) are valid for new reservations that book and sail within 4 years from purchase date. CNDs become null and void after expiration. Failure to redeem and sail within 4 years will result in forfeiture of your CND(s). Not applicable towards existing reservations.
